50 year anniversary and Brooklyn Pickle knows how to treat their customers right! Customer appreciation day with $5 sandwiches and lots of additional 50¢ specials, like pickles, sodas, chips and brownies. The line was long and people kept coming. They opened the doors at exactly 10am and the amazing staff behind the counter never missed a beat. Sandwiches were being carefully made and packaged up with drinks, chips and sweets. The inside was decorated with balloons and anniversary t-shirts were being sold. I came home with a few different sandwiches because I just couldn't choose one! I left off the condiments so it wouldn't be soggy and came home and added some deli mustard to the corned beef and Swiss with lettuce and onions and it was delicious.

Turkey sub, cream cheese brownie & raspberry tea.

While traveling & in town at lunchtime, I was looking for a restaurant with subs, since I live in the South now & cannot find a decent one there. I was very pleased with the turkey sub I selected and had a great cream cheese brownie for dessert. It was my birthday and I was looking for a tasty meal after going for a walk at Onondaga Lake Park. Brooklyn Pickle delivered!

It's been at least 25 years since coming here and I'm so glad I decided to try while I was in town for the week. Decided on a Reuben and clam chowder soup. Both were so delicious and the sandwich was filled with meat just as expected. The service (black woman) was soo helpful and friendly, she made me feel right at home. Def a gem for the town and worth a try.

Not from the Syracuse area but was just in the area for work drove by and saw this deli with a bunch of cars so I assumed it was going to be good and I stopped in. Yes the long was lying but worth the wait and wasn't a slow line. I ended up getting a whole gluten-free roast beef sandwich. Also an antipasto salad and the carrot ginger soup. The antipasto salad was already pre-made but fresh that day which I ended up having for dinner. The carrot ginger soup was a period soup that was freshly made in house Rich delicious flavors. And the star of the show was my gluten-free roast beef sandwich which was technically two sandwiches so I had two lunches out of that. The roast beef was flavorful. I ended up putting lettuce tomato, banana peppers and provolone cheese. I definitely love the pickles that were included as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Turkey sandwich. This is only half the sandwich!

This place can move people! At least 10 people working the counter area putting sandwiches together! The meat, cheese, bread, all fresh! There is no better sandwich, anywhere. The soups are fresh and homemade. The whole sandwich is too big for anyone to finish, so I took the other half home. They offer half sandwich's, which is like a normal size sandwich. Wide verity of chips, drinks, home made cookies and desserts. There is seating inside and out. Very comfortable and the rest rooms are clean. Highly recommended

Had to get the BP sweatshirts.

I don't know how you make a simple turkey sub so delicious, but dang. I'm from the south, and we don't have a lot of great deli options, so Brooklyn Pickle is always a treat when we're back home in Syracuse. Restaurant is clean, service was fast and friendly, and the sandwiches are simple, but amazing. And we also like the owner!

My husband loves this place, and I have to admit, it's pretty darn good. It's the only place I can get an egg and olive sandwich!

Crooked Cattle - Drunken Focaccia Bread

Stopped for a Saturday lunch. Only one waitress. No host stand or anything so it was a little bit…read moreawkward to figure out who to tell We were there. We started with the drunk focaccia. It was fine. Would've been better if the cheese was actually hot. Expensive at 15 bucks for four pieces of bread with beer cheese and scallions on top. I had the beef on week. Partner had the CHAMP. They really enjoyed theirs. The beef on wreck was good. Horseradish had a real kick which I appreciated. The sandwiches came with "rough cut" chips which seemed to be made in house. Fine for what they were I suppose, I don't personally like homemade chips so I can't judge too hard. Came to nearly 60 bucks for two sandwiches and an app. Expensive for what it was. Not a bad experience but I'll only be back if my partner has a craving.

Tried Crooked Cattle for takeout on a DoorDash happy hour promotion at 25% off (unclear if this was…read morea one time deal or a daily offering). I ordered the Beef of Weck and Potato Salad given past reviews seemed to deem these two items as menu staples. The potato salad was fine, in need of a big pinch of salt. The Beef on Weck was a hardy, and a big portion for a sandwich, the extra horseradish wasn't necessary unless you're really a fan. However, the sandwich should be eaten with the au jus, otherwise it borders on flavorless. I did find the bun overly salty. Filling but not fufillying. Additional note... When I went to pickup the staff member wanted me to sign off on a receipt of the full amount without the discount. When I stated I paid online, he responded it had to do with the fact DoorDash doesn't allow for a tip. When I asked for a new bill representative of what I paid, the manager came and said they ask for the signature to confirm it was picked up... Then I said, I can indicate that here on the app, and he agreed and let me go with my food. Overall the interaction made me uncomfortable as I've never experienced a similar situation with pickup. Perhaps just me, but something I feel someone should be made aware of if they're ordering to-go.

Honestly I didn't even know that this little shop was hiding here until a friend of mine had told me about it. Hiding in the Mass Mutual Buildings Lobby in Downtown Syracuse at the corner of Fayette and Clinton Street, unless you happen to notice the sandwich board sign out in front of the building you wouldn't notice it. The good about this place from what I can tell you is rotating $5 lunch specials, free delivery of lunch within the downtown area, a rewards program based off points of dollars spent, and a friendly staff and reasonable prices on a pretty expansive menu for a cracker jack box sized Deli. And most of the food is fresh prepared right in front of you. Sometimes even by Joe himself! I decided to try something that was a regular item on their menu which is cleverly named with streets and areas in Syracuse. I had the "Onondaga" which is essentially a chicken bacon ranch panini. One thing I love about it is its a pressed sandwich, Which next time I try one of their pressed ones I'll get a different bread. The standard for this sandwich is a local favorite, pastas stretch bread. Which is absolutely delicious, but it just doesn't press well in my opinion and it makes it overly chewy. If I customized it a little and got a different bread, it would have helped it. But it did use a lot of fresh ingredients bacon made right on the flat top and roasted chicken breast cut right there, and a good quality ranch dressing. I got a side of fries as well which were just basic shoestring fries but were fresh fried to order for me. I can say if you want a budget lunch that is of good quality, Joe's definitely is a great choice, as it ran me less than $10 for quite a bit of lunch with a drink. I can definitely say that I will make a return trip. And even though its hard to find for the general public, they definitely are loved by the downtown workers as they probably churned through 30 customers as I ate mine in their quaint little dining area of about 4 tables. If its that routinely eaten, I think you as well might like to "Eat At Joe's"!

Friends had a pork wrap and an Italian meat sandwich and they were quite satisfied I had a burger, it was OK, smaller than the burgers I'm used to but not bad. I also had clam chowder that was meaty (lots of clams) and tasty. They have both bottled drinks at fountain drinks with free refills. Prices are very reasonable I.e. my burger was $3.50 Dining room only has 6 small tables with two chairs each but we put a couple together no problem Place is very clean. Staff friendly and helpful

The staff always seem to be hard at work as they are clearly in high demand. We were lucky this visit because all of the bagels were super fresh as it was peak busy hours. We also were lucky because we actually found parking quite quickly & didn't have to circle the block. I appreciate they offer sandwich options but I usually stick with a bagel & some form of cream cheese for myself because that's just usually my preference. This visit I got a rosemary salt bagel with salmon cream cheese. It was simple & perfectly what I was looking for that day. It's a beautiful space that is well lit & well decorated. It's easy to find them with their sign out front. It can get a bit crowded inside if they're busy but that's nothing to complain about it's just the reality of the space they are working with. Last note- it does always smell really amazing when you walk in there.
