Chris is fantastic. Trustworthy, reliable, reachable and helpful. We had a last minute urgent lock repair at an inconvenient time and reached out to Chris. He replied very quickly and solved with the same urgency we called him with. Highest possible recommendation! read more

I needed a reliable locksmith and these cats came through. I called up and they came within 15 minutes which is pretty good. Chris, who I assume is the owner or lead is a pretty cool dude. He has a very affable personality, which is needed for an annoying situation of locking yourself out of your room. I didn't have cash on hand, but he walked me through creating a Venmo account which made the process pretty smooth. I hope to never have to call a locksmith again, but these guys did their thing. read more

Had such a great experience with this locksmith business today! I locked myself out of my apartment with my twin babies and not only did they offer timely service for a great price, the service was super fast. The person was communicative about their timing, they worked quickly to get us inside and they took Venmo for payment. Super friendly and they know what they are doing. read more

Was locked out of my home with a low charge on my phone, so I didn't have the luxury of researching locksmiths late at night - especially since I had a flight out the next day. Upon arrival, there was 2 minutes of jiggling and I didn't get a strong sense that it was going to be successful. My initial understanding was that it was $130 to open the lock, but to no avail, the only other option he provided me was ~$240 to break my lock and install a new one. That was definitely a no go and he still charged me $140 for stopping by. I'm respectful of people's time and would have paid for the gas and attempt, but that definitely did not equate to the full price. We eventually agreed on $70, but I felt ripped off in addition to feeling like the prices were misrepresented with the ulterior motive of trying to upsell me. The feedback I provided was to be more direct about the prices before committing to a service. read more

I wish I had more locks for Chris to replace... I would definitely recommend his services to others: some service people call once they are late to tell you that they will be late. So, I appreciate Chris for calling before he was scheduled to arrive to let me know that he was running behind in his schedule. The replacement took far less time than I even anticipated. There was no "deep couch sitting" before he called me to the door to say that he was done. The biggest plus for me was that he explained all of the components of the lock (it's a mul-t-lock), how I should be responsible for my card, and why I shouldn't use the slam lock (unless I like throwing away money... I don't). And he was unexpectedly nice and nice to talk with. I mean, time is money so we didn't talk that long but, Chris was pleasant to talk with; like "pull up a chair & offer him a beer" pleasant. I didn't of, course... and he would have refused because he was professional, a professional who is knowledgeable about his craft. Like I said, if I had more locks to replace I know exactly who is call to replace them. My one regret, I didn't ask for more business cards. They're bound to come in handy. Thanks Chris. read more

Called and gentleman was very courteous, came out right away like he said. Fast great service and everything he said on the phone was exactly what it was in person! Very pleased would definitely recommend and use them again! read more

Great service!!! I had a jammed deadbolt. I called Chris, he came by promptly despite the weather (snow, ice), took him 10 minutes to take apart the lock and pop open the door. Firm price, the other service I called started scamming on site, but when I called Chris it was one price estimate and the same price after the door was open. Great job and outstanding service! I highly recommend these guys they are honest and perform their services exceptionally. read more

If you don't mind paying prices that are two to four times as much as competing locksmith's this is your place. These guys charged my wife $225+tax to install a new cylinder. I called four other locksmiths to confirm what I knew was a rip-off. Other locksmiths in Brooklyn quoted $55-115 to swap out a cylinder plus the cost of the cylinder. The cylinder these guys installed costs $40 from Amazon. When I called the next day upset that they had taken advantage of the situation they hung up on me. It's shameful when businesses take advantage of folks who aren't familiar with what normal prices are for a simple job that took half an hour to complete. I should also mention that they showed up 2 hours late for the job. UPDATE: They called me back and attempted to make things right which I appreciate so I updated my review to reflect this. read more

The price for installing a top of the line deadbolt was very fair. The installation was fast and neat. He even adjusted the bottom lock so it would close better as a courtesy. Very friendly as well. He knows his stuff. read more

I got locked out of my apartment late one night after the knob spun completely off. Chris promised to show up within 30 minutes when I called and ended up coming in 15 minutes. He was extremely professional, honest and fair with pricing. Most importantly the job was done fast and efficiently without leaving a mess and I haven't had a problem with the door since the fix. I highly recommend this locksmith for any jobs that require attention. read more

I don't tend to write reviews unless I've had an exceptional or abysmal experience. Brooklyn Lock and Security was beyond exceptional. I called Chris, their owner, after my local locksmith was closed during the day. Chris walked me through the issue with my key, suggested another locksmith who might be able to copy the key and told me to contact him with any questions--offering advice even though he knew he couldn't actually sell me anything at the time. As luck would have it, later that day one of the locks on my door jammed. Within minutes Chris had sent a member of his team who swiftly, carefully, and diligently rectified the problem. This was professional, outstanding, timely service with great prices and all around wonderful people. I could not recommend Brooklyn Lock and Security more. read more

Chris is the best. I am going through a stressful move and thought the lock to my new kitchen was broken. It wasn't. I had used the wrong key. *womp* Chris was a total sweetheart about it and tried to convince me that I wasn't a complete idiot. The lock was loose so he fixed it, and his trip wasn't in vain. He was quick, and professional, and it felt like I was hanging out with a friend when we did the billing! That's pretty impressive. Lol Hire them! read more

Chris was referred to me by a friend from Bay Ridge so i called him and asked if he serviced Staten Island and he said he would since it was a referral. Fortunately he was able to fit me in that day to change my back door lock since the key broke in it. Before Chris arrived we discussed prices since i had just purchased a car and was over dealing with car salesman! He was very courteous discussing the prices and when he arrived he made me feel comfortable and reminded me of the warranty he has for doing work. I appreciate the courtesy for driving to Staten Island and even more about being up front about the pricing. I would recommend Chris for his timeliness, up front attitude and clean/professional work. Thanks again! read more

I can't recommend Chris highly enough. I hired him to install two locks. He immediately noticed that a locksmith I used last year (M&D) had done a poor job on an installation that left me vulnerable to a potential break-in. He fixed their mistake free of charge. Not only did he arrive quickly, get the job done fast and efficiently but it was also a pleasure to have him in my home. He made me feel comfortable and safe which is truly rare with any kind of male contractor. He's the only locksmith I'll ever use in this city. read more

My 89 year old grandmother with alzheimers locked herself out of her house a few blocks from mine. Thank god she was able to find her way to my house since she left her cell phone inside. As soon as she arrived I thought to call here because a friend mentioned what a good experience he previously had. Chris came right over and made sure my grandma was able to get back in to her house. He was professional and personable and fair priced from experiences elsewhere... thanks Brooklyn Lock & security I'll be using you moving fwd! read more

I am the proud owner of a new door, and wanted to change the locks on that door. I had a lot of ideas about what kinds of locks I should get. I called Brooklyn Lock & Security and Chris was able to come over to do the work right away--even though I was expecting to schedule a time because my issue was not urgent. He then very kindly explained thoroughly why a less expensive option would be far more secure than the set-up I was envisioning, installed the new locks quickly, and walked me through exactly what I needed to do to make sure I wouldn't have to replace things completely if I ever lost my keys. He also fixed a busted latch on the door, and was overall pleasant, knowledgable, and truly seemed to have my best interests as a door-owner at heart. read more
