I had 5 shelves to hang onto a concrete pillar in my apt. I was told it was going to be REALLY hard being that the surface was concrete, so i was dreading having to get someone to do it. I called and got a next day appointment which was stellar in a city where jobs like this get a quote for "sometime in the next few weeks". Jon sent Stan to do the work and stan was prompt, courteous, VERY friendly and worked SO fast. he was done in about 1 hr and 15 minutes. Jim's hourly rates are reasonable and he does not overcharge, even if he over/underestimates (especially if a quote is given over the phone without seeing the actual place that needs work done)--his fees are appropriate and completely reasonable. I've just moved into a studio apartment that required a much needed upgrade. I called a bunch of handyman services that I found on Yelp, and Jim was only 1 of 3 that got back to me on the same day. Since he was so friendly and patient with my request, I immediately scheduled an appointment with him. He confirmed our appointment the evening before, arrived on time, and promptly got to work after greeting me. He painted my kitchen, bathroom, and a wall in the living room...and my apartment now looks amazing! He also installed a new showerhead and changed my toilet seat in literally less than 5 minutes. Throughout the day, he was also very conversational and friendly. More importantly, I felt that I could trust him with my apartment and belongings, as I left for a couple of hours while he was still working. Hiring Jim was SO worth it (and I paid out of my own pocket since my landlord was not required to make all of the updates that I wanted to make)...I'm loving my apartment!

They are just 2 guys that I found on craigslist but they do a great job. They have a minimum fee of $125, so if you need a bunch of little things done, its a great deal. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 is they left a bit of a mess after they did my invisible wiring in my wall from the drilling, but for such a great price, i can't complain. So nice and they will work in the evenings as well--had them come on a Friday night to mount my TV and have some paintings hung into my brick walls and they did an incredible job. The missing star from the "Five Star Review": There was a third person with them (not of the J & A duo) and he tended to talk a lot, slowed the process down and seemed a bit absent minded. However, that said, this nameless third person did a great job as well.

His estimate was reasonable for the amount of work to be done and very competitive with estimates I had already received from five other contractors. Andrew and his assistant Matt took about two days to transform my kitchen into something really sharp. Andrew was very thorough and even took care of some odds and ends that were left by the builder (and previous contractor who installed the counter top). Also, Andrew was very neat - he covered the counter top to avoid any damage or stains and swept the floor after both days of working. After they left, you would never know that two people were sawing tiles and working with grout and tile adhesive all day. I wouldn't hesitate to book Andrew for any other jobs I need done around the apartment. It was a five-star experience from start to finish and I'm glad I found the Handy Andy Squad.
