Jay beautifully repaired a very damaged antique curio. I appreciated that he was a clear communicator, and also, very importantly, he was able to come to the house first to discuss his methods of fixing the piece before settling on what I considered to be a very reasonable price. In addition, I was very happy that he was able to take the curio to his workplace to do the repairs because with our large, very protective dog, it would have been difficult to have this work done in my house. I'm truly impressed with how he restored the curio to its original condition. This was definitely a project with all that was required; the curio had broken legs, detached pieces of metal fence-like railings, unsecured shelving, etc. To summarize, he did a super job and I highly recommend him! read more

Great advice given about our couch malfunction. He diagnosed the problem online and advised us that it probably wasn't necessary for him to come and look at it and charge us. We figured out what was wrong with his aid and were able to fix it ourselves. What more is there to say? read more

J was great to interact with. He was responsive, courteous, on-time, and provided a fair price quote for a door frame fix. Appreciated his patience and customer service, and would definitely recommend him. read more

Jay helped with a shelf install (after I'd messed it up). He provided a plan for the project beforehand, came punctually, and brought the necessary tools and equipment to complete the job. Work was completed quickly and proficiently, and with the extra time left, he even helped to hang some frames up on the wall. I'd work with him again! read more

J has helped us complete two major projects - mounting our massive 84 inch TV and creating a display of our national park posters by drilling into our brick wall. J was a total pro, working very efficiently and hanging everything perfectly. Everything is straight and evenly spaced, and we could not recommend him enough for any hanging or mounting project! read more

Great communication, amazing work at a fair price! I would absolutely recommend him. I had 2 doors that needed to be repaired, and bottoms shaved so they could close without scuffing the floor. I reached out on a Sunday morning, and by Sunday afternoon, the job was done perfectly. He also cleaned up the sawdust. I'll be reaching out to him if I need work done in the future! read more

Jay is incredible. Not only is he immensely capable and able to fix and do just about anything, he has a great eye, so is able to help with home improvement projects beyond merely getting things up on walls. Jay is easy to work with-- he's responsive, incredibly clean and respectful (removed his shoes without being asked). My dog, who hates all men, adores him. Jay has helped us multiple times with everything from picture hanging to fixing weird things, and he will be our go-to as long as he remains in this business. read more

I reached out to Jay to refinish a wooden bench I wanted to buy from a reseller online. He was super helpful in providing an estimate for the level of work that would be required, and once he'd received the bench, worked very closely with me to keep me informed on the condition of the wood under the original paint and to nail down the final look I was going for (which did change over time!). Jay was very communicative and kept me updated on every step of the process. I'm super thrilled with how my bench turned out! read more

Joel completely repaired and refinished a large cutting board that had been gifted to us by a family member. It had split in half and had some mold, but he did an amazing job making it look brand new. It was easy to communicate and he was very responsive. The price was more than fair for how it turned out. Highly recommended! Thank you again read more

Jay is fantastic! We are so grateful for his help. He did a variety of tasks for us that ranged from basic (hanging a mirror) to complex (shaving and rehanging a door) and he did really excellent, efficient work. He is also a very nice guy. We highly recommend Jay and look forward to working with him in the future! read more

Jay was fabulous. He was patient and extremely pleasant. I had a drawer under my platform bed where the track was broken and I was unable to pull the drawer out. He meticulously disengaged the track and reinstalled it better than it was originally installed. read more

J Greene was a God-send. I moved into my Brooklyn apartment with a huge, heavy wood bed frame, that came with built-in drawers and side reading nooks. In addition, the bed-frame was damaged from me trying to put it together myself at my prior apartment. I called J, he was respectful and responsive. He seemed to really care that I had been sleeping on the floor, and prioritized helping me out. He came, fixed the damage, basically rebuilding the damaged portions, and assembled the bed. His price was affordable, $65/hour. He didn't dilly dally, he took just the amount of time it required. And my bed feels secure and safe. It's so amazing to sleep on a sturdy bed each night. I highly recommend. read more

J Greene was very reliable as he showed up when he said he would. He put a lot of thought into fixing my china cabinet and daybed. The daybed was supposed to hold 300 lbs but it broke within a month. J Greene fixed it and I think King Kong could sleep on it now. I used his services twice and was happy both times. read more

I'm so glad to have found J Greene on Yelp. I reached out to see if I could get two chairs fixed because the front legs on both were dislocated. J Greene responded the same day and made himself available the following day. He was clear on how long the repair would take, and his price was reasonable. J Greene was courteous and polite, kept his face mask on, offered to take his shoes off, and cleaned up after. I'm very pleased with his work on the chairs. These aren't expensive chairs, but his repair firmly reinforced the chair legs and will hopefully extend their use for a while longer. I would definitively recommend J Greene. read more

Jay did a superb repair job, reassembling and re-gluing my bentwood recliner, even adding new reinforcements that made it stronger than when new 30 years ago. He is a pleasure to work with, a skilled craftsman and a thoughtful problem solver. read more

J Greene was a huge help in fixing our mid-century modern couch. The corner hinge was broken and the seating portion of the couch also needed to be reattached to the leg portion of the couch. J did great work in the house and had the right equipment / hardware on hand. Was very responsive and flexible on timing. Pricing came out to same as estimate. We'll work with J again. read more

I've used other services and have to say that hands down Jay is THE best furniture doctor in the nyc area! He came to our aid when we had a last minute emergency getting our oversized sofa out the door during a recent move. He broke down and rebuilt the sofa like new, but beyond that he was an absolute awesome guy to work with and takes a lot of pride in the quality of his work. I highly recommend him for all your custom furniture and assembly needs! read more

Jay did a great job! needed some heavy mirrors and draperies installed into exposed brick walls. He got right to work, had all the necessary equipment and seemed to know exactly what he was doing.
