I first went to Hanna for a bridesmaids dress for my friend's wedding- I needed help styling some sashes on it and also needed it taken in and hemmed, she did fantastic!! She did such a good job that I ended up taking my own wedding dress to her for alterations!! I can not thank Hanna enough for what an amazing job she did on my dress!! I'll be honest, it's hard to pay $180 for alterations and still give a place 5 stars but it's what it deserves. I have the "honor" to be in a few weddings this year and I came here with a mess of a dress. It could zip, but it didn't look right, too much room in the cups, tight in the back and hips, long strap, just not good. These ladies completely re hauled my dress. They used one of the linings to add panels on each side then took in the cups and shortened the strap. They basically took it apart and put Humpty back together again. I also appreciated how they took their time and gave me a minimum of two fittings. If I needed anything else, I'm sure they would have been happy to do it. I brought the dress in before their New Year break, but they were still able to get it done a little over a month. I have another Bridesmaids dress that I will be bringing here as well and hopefully will cost me less. read more

48 days until "I do", and there I was staring at my dress, dumbstruck. I had no idea where to take it for alterations, besides the obvious of where I bought it. And THAT wasn't going to happen. I needed a bit of hemming, some gaudy beading removed, and a bustle. That's it. The dress fit me like a glove when I bought it in March, and luckily remained that way until the end of October. I wasn't about to shell out more for alterations than the price of the dress. Enter Brookdale Tailoring and Cleaners. Yelpers didn't lie about this place: Hannah is amazing! I am so glad I trusted her with making small alterations to my wedding dress. I'm honestly surprised I didn't think of it sooner, as I drive by it daily. I called on a Monday to make an appointment. Hannah answered the phone and told me I could come in that day after work. I didn't expect that, but I was so relieved! I rushed home from work, grabbed my dress, boots (for the ceremony), and custom Converse shoes (for the reception) and made my way over. Hannah greeted me immediately and had me go put my dress on. When I came out, she got to work, pinning and adjusting, pinning and adjusting. She worked quickly but with expert precision. For the bustle, she determined English would look better than French (I didn't know the difference until she explained it to me) and I agreed with her choice. Due to the height difference in my heeled boots and flat shoes, she had to remove four inches from the bottom of the dress. She quoted me $228, which included all of the work mentioned above (except for the bead removal, she didn't charge me for that) and also pressing the dress to get the wrinkles out. Not bad at all! During my appointment, she showed me pictures that she drew of beautiful dresses and suits (a true fashion designer, and very talented!) She also mentioned how she is the recommended tailor for Macy's and Banana Republic, which is noteworthy. Hannah assured me that my dress would be ready on time, and in all of the years she's be doing this she has NEVER been late. And I believe that. I paid $50 on the spot and she scheduled me to come back November 18th for the final fitting and pay the remaining balance. Take note- credit cards are not accepted, so plan accordingly. Finally the 18th came. Like a kid on Christmas, I could hardly wait to try my dress on again. I arrived back at BT&C; Hannah was waiting for me, dress in hand. I tried it on and when I stepped out to look in the full length mirror, I was thrilled. The beading was no longer there, and you couldn't even tell that it was in the first place. The bustle was perfect, and the bit of hemming she had to do was impeccable. I almost, ALMOST shed a tear of joy (I'm not a crier), but instead I profusely thanked Hannah over and over again. After I changed back into my street clothes and settled up with Hannah, she wished me well and made me promise to bring her a picture of me in my dress after my wedding (which she'll get, without a doubt). She also told me to bring the dress back for preservation for $35. $35! I think my dress store wanted to charge me three times that.... again, no thanks! I'll keep my business local, thank you very much! Definitely see Hannah and BT&C for wedding dress alterations. The prices are reasonable and Hannah was a joy to work with. I highly recommend her service especially if you are looking to have your most treasured/expensive clothing altered e.g. wedding dress, suits etc. I brought my half a size too small, silk (i.e. heavy!) wedding dress to her and she did a fantastic job with the corset, chest padding and bustle. THere were many options for a bustle, but she looked at my dress's fabric type and concluded the best one would be a french bustle. Hanna doesn't just recommend any solution; she customizes it for every individual. Best of all, she's reasonable in pricing and would throw in discounted dryclean when you use her tailoring service. I'd been going back and forth between having my wedding dress altered at David's Bridal or going elsewhere. My friend Val recommended Hannah to me as she'd had her wedding dress altered at Brookdale. Hannah is truly a genius! She made an amazing recommendation to alter my dress that took it from a dress I loved to a dress I was so in love with I wish I could wear it again and again! My dress was a snow white satin dress with lace overlay, a lot of beading - sequins and pearls, and a hella long train on it. Hannah suggested removing the white underlay from the train so that the lace would stand out and it would make the bustle lighter and easier. She also showed me the bustle options - French vs English. She also took up the hem of the dress and the slip and pressed the dress for me. The bustle was rock solid. I've had several friends who've had tons of trouble with their bustles on the wedding night - falling out while dancing, tearing if the dress got stepped on... I didn't have a single issue. I didn't even notice it. Oh and the English bustle was gorgeous to boot. As much as I loved the train, I loved seeing my dress bustled! I ended up bustling it for about half my pictures too! I paid just shy of $425 for all these alteration which isn't exactly cheap but totally worth it for the amount of work she put in and the final product. I never got pricing from David's for my dress, but I did pay less for all my alterations than a friend paid for hers at David's, and hers were much simpler. I will certainly be making the trek to Naperville the next time I need something altered! read more

I first came here to get my wedding dress altered but the quote I was given was $600 which was too much for my budget so I went somewhere else. 1 day before my rehearsal dinner, I came in asking if they could shorten and take the seam in on a skirt in 1 day. Hanna willingly accepted the job and did not charge me for a rush order. I think it cost less than $30. 2 days before the wedding, I felt uncomfortable that my wedding dress would fall and I would constantly have to keep pulling it up (it was strapless). I brought my dress in and asked Hanna for her advice. She suggested putting a lining along the sweetheart part of the dress so that it would stay better on my skin. I also asked for straps that I could hook/unhook for dancing. Hanna had a bunch of pageant dresses to do the next 2 days and was so busy but she said " I want you to be confident on your wedding day" and generously accepted the job. Hanna worked super hard overnight and everything was done the next day. It cost around $150 which is reasonable based on the time constraint. I actually did not end up using the straps on my wedding day, but having them available made me more confident the day of the wedding. I think the lining helped too. I must tell you; this is based on Hannah's TAILORING. If you are looking for cleaning/pressing, it really isn't her thing. Hannah transformed my dress perfectly for me! It looks absolutely stunning on me and is super comfy. My dress was a PROJECT requiring much time due to beading, lace, flowers, and details. I'm very happy with her work. I did pay for pressing but she thought it was appropriate to press the dress 3 months before my wedding and that's it. I haven't really needed any elaborate alterations, just some various hemming because petite just never seems to be short enough. Though throughout the place, there are many pictures of happy customers in beautiful dresses that have been altered there. Overall, I'm very happy. The turnaround isn't super quick, if that's an issue, which it's never been for me. The price is a tad higher than other places I've had hemming done, but nothing hugely out of the ordinary. She does get really busy around prom and wedding season, which would probably be my only issue if you are looking for more of a regular tailor/cleaners than for special occasions. Unsurprisingly longer turnaround, but more so, you can't just drop off a pair of pants that's already pinned or you know how much you want taken off. Or one time I picked up a pair of pants and was hoping to have the same length taken off another exact pair, but appointments are required for dropping anything off. That's something I haven't really run into at other places. Again, not a huge deal, but for busy hectic periods in my schedule, maybe something a little more flexible suits me better for the simple jobs. If I needed some real work done, this is the place I'd go. Still, it speaks volumes about the demand she gets that she's so highly in demand around that season! And if you are looking for involved alterations around that time of year, I'm guessing you'd want to call early if possible? :) read more

Whatever Hannah touches, turns to gold. I ordered my wedding gown through an online retailer, and hated it when it arrived. Since I live in NYC, I'd only ever heard great things about Hannah from friends and family in Illinois. So, I visited Hannah during my next trip to Naperville, dress in hand. WHAT WAS WRONG: my strapless, princess-stylegown was too big in the waist, too long, and too plain: it woefully lacked the sheen, angelic effervescence, and body-hugging look it had advertised. The bust was too big and the dress kept falling, while my belly looked bigger than my bust. Tulle layers, which began from the waist down, fell flat (not a very princess-y effect) instead of poufing gloriously. Worst of all: I had LESS THAN TWO MONTHS until my wedding day. WHAT SHE DID: Hannah inserted a corset and stays for stability in the upper half of the dress. She also added a gel lining in the sweetheart neckline so it wouldn't gape open, and added chest padding so that I could have the silhouette I wanted. Hannah then trimmed the multiple tulle hems to fit my height, and added something underneath the tulle hems to give it a fuller, more princess-y look. And, she added a bustle (cleverly hidden when not in use) to neatly contain my train while dancing. Best of all: she found me a gorgeous matching belt, and sewed it onto the dress, making the belt seem like it had always been attached to the dress. Then, she took the extra beads that came with the wedding belt, and sewed them into gorgeous, classy clusters all around my bust, and waist, and tulle skirt. Additionally, she found me a timeless veil to complete my look. Then, she shipped the entire dress to me in NYC with time to spare. At the risk of sounding obsequious and sycophantic, I can't help but agree with all the other reviews listed here. Hannah went above, and beyond, and beyond some more to make my dress. Having hailed from a pharmaceutical industry background, I know excellent customer service when I see it, and Hannah is the epitome of it. She is wise and experienced enough to give you the look YOU want, not necessarily the one that's high-fashion (read: uncomfortable). She is kind and considerate when listening to your concerns, and exceeds every promise she makes. Hannah is incredibly punctual, too: she waits, dress out, greeting you with a smile as you enter for your appointment. I trust her fashion background (heralds from the top design university in Korea), and her artistic touch. Truly, my gown looked as if it had never been altered: it fit like a glove. I recommend Hannah to any bride who wants to turn her rags into a Cinderella ballgown. read more

I bought my wedding dress when Pricilla of Boston was going out of business, and the dress I fell in love with was of course discontinued, slightly large, and had dirt at the bottom. It was a runway dress which is why it had the dirt on the bottom and it was too long on me. I INSISTED on buying this dress, and researched to find a reasonable priced place and someone who had the talent to be able to fix it. I found Brookdale tailoring on google and read the positive reviews, so I decided to take it there. I got married on September 2, 2012, and brought my dress there about 10 months in advance. Hannah did a BEAUTIFUL job. I went in about 4 times, every time she made it fit more and more like a glove. I was so worried about the dirt at the bottom of the dress, and she got ALL of it out. You should see the before and after pictures!! There were rhinestones lined along the chest, and it order for her to take it in she had to remove EACH rhinestone and sew it back in by hand. It looked brand new!!!! Her price was amazing, her work was amazing, the room is clean and has a nice full length mirror. Spoiler alert: Hanna is the best, THE BEST!! After finding my wedding dress this year, the boutique recommended that I go to Brookdale Tailoring for my alterations. I had never been here before, but as soon as my mom I met Hanna we were impressed with her kindness and her portfolio and we knew we had made the right decision. Each time I came in to try on the dress and see the work that had been done, I was blown away!!!! Hanna and her team restructured the dress in a way that is beyond my comprehension. They were able to move the lace without impacting it in any way, they added padding for my chest, they took it in on my waist and had to remove all the buttons... in short, it was a lot of work, but the results are phenomenal. Fantastic tailoring!! I brought my wedding dress here to be altered and couldn't be happier with the service and final product. When I brought my dress to Hanna it was 2-3 sizes too big, thanks to the bridal salon I bought it from who convinced me that if I ordered anything smaller it would need to be let out. The dress is very detailed so I knew it would not be easy. Hanna put her heart and soul into my dress....you would never even know that it used to be way too big for me. It fits like a glove!!! Brought a $3000.00 velvet Georgio Armani jacket to this Tailor, with a tiny bit of reservation. Paid in advance for the sleeve shortening and tapering. I must say I have been on a streak of great luck lately with people that I have been referred to. I picked up the jacket as well as an Armani Jeans driving jacket, for which they also shortened the sleeves. You can not tell that shortening was not done at the factory. It looks as perfect as it did before it was altered. I can not express how impressed I am with the workmanship. The tailoring is amazing! On the velvet jacket, the owner of the store actually, hand embroidered the mock button holes on the sleeves, at the buttons. Four on each side. She did it with such perfection that I can not tell the difference between the Factory Armani stitching and hers. I will also say that my Grandfather was a tailor and made clothing for designers, during his lifetime. This shop rivals the perfection that my own Grandfather put into the clothing he made me during his life. Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job on my items. A couple months ago, I brought 2 dresses for alterations. Hanna is wonderful! I called beforehand, and although she was packed with wedding dress orders, she squeezed me in. One dress was supposedly fitted; straps needed to be adjusted, and bodice, taken in and hemmed. She advised that it be hemmed a certain length, with my shoes' heel height in mind. The second dress had the straps draping oddly; it needed to be taken in, and hemmed as well. I left the dresses, and came back a week after. She works soo hard! When I came to pick up my dress, it was beyond their store hours, but she still had me try the dresses on, and waited for me to finish. It fit perfectly! I felt comfortable using the dress to an event (not worrying about tripping or wardrobe malfunction!) I think it is worth mentioning that she is the chosen tailor for BHLDN. I saw a lot of Miss America contestants' pictures on her wall. There was also a long time customer there, whose been coming back to her for years (I got to chat with her. She said that Hanna is the best.:p) Those pictures and testimony of a loyal customer just says a lot about the wuality of her work. read more

Hanna is a Miracle Worker!!! What she has done for my daughter's wedding gown has been incredible!! From the minute we walked in the door, Hanna was knowledgeable, reassuring, professional, and so much more! I have no idea how she was able to 'take in' this gown (which meant putting in 'stays', taking up the shoulder, taking up the many layers in the length, etc), and make it look even better than it did when the dress was purchased, but she did. She took her time with the initial consultation to make sure my daughter and she were 'on the same page' as for what my daughter wanted as far as the type of Bustle, how much to take in on the waist, etc. and it is perfect.
