The Chiliquillas was Excellent! I had the green and it was great. The beans and rice that came with it so good! Large portion. The Benedict was great too! Bid English Muffin and Lots of avocado and bacon under the egg. Hash browns on the side was a very nice size portion. Chicken Fried Steak was good size and tasted good too!! Excellent service. Quick and clean. I ordered steak and eggs, sourdough toast and fruit bowl. Steak (medium rare) and eggs (over medium) were cooked to order and tasted well. No massive seasoning, which for me was good. Sourdough toast was buttered edge to edge. This is not found in most restaurants. Most places only put a small dab, this place made sure it was buttered. Excellent just for that alone. Bowl of fruit consisted of a slice if cantaloupe, a small piece of pineapple, watermelon, melon, and an orange slice. They even remember our names and the wait times are minimal due to the outstanding Hostesses and Hosts who pay attention to detail..(They even remember our favorite places to sit... It's my first time at Broken Yolk in El Centro. I'm from San Diego & I love Broken Yolk there. Actually I'm not disappointed by this branch. Service was good. The wait staffs frequently checked if we need anything. By the way they have morning (alcoholic) beverage menu with more than just Mimosa & Bloody Mary. We had Hard Apple Cider (vodka + champagne + Apple juice). It is pretty good. Totally recommend it. As for food, I had Golden State Egg Benedict with home fries. I did really enjoy my meal. The hollandaise sauce is not too light & not too thick. Porched eggs are perfectly cooked. I don't really like home fries though. The potato is too thick with no flavor. Excellent! Came here twice for breakfast and each time was great. Can't say enough good things about this joint I'd highly recommend it. Get the early bird special plates under $6.00 from 6-8am. A solid American breakfast lineup with some Mexican and healthy choice selections. I have yet to experience lunch. Waitresses are so nice. Always smiling and don't overcrowd or bother you every 5mins. Laura is the best (I hope that's her name). She sets a great example of how customer service should be. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and flavorful, eggs were perfectly poached, and avocados were plentiful. The bacon was a bit overdone and hard. The fresh fruit on the side was a bit stale and dry. Overall, the benedicts were still very, very good because the sauce was amazing! We also ordered the waffles, which were the perfect balance between soft and crunchy. I'm not usually a complainer but this wasn't a good experience. It took awhile to even get greeted once we were sat, and when the server did arrive she was very short and not friendly. I'm a bartender/server and although I have bad days and understand everyone does, she didn't even check on us after the food was dropped. I found something unsavory in my sandwich, and I would've told her but she didn't come until we were all the way done. I had to ask another server to take our payment. So tried the Broken Yolk for breakfast this morning as I had a hankering for some Eggs Benedict. When I got there about 9am there were not many people in there so seating was immediate. Coffee came quickly and had enough time to peruse the Menu before being asked what I wanted. The Menu stated that it was poached eggs on top of Canadian Bacon and English muffin covered in Hollandaise sauce. Side of Hash browns. I am pretty sure that it was not Canadian Bacon but a smoked ham slice, cut in half so a piece on each muffin. I pointed this out to the server and was told that's what they use. No offer to change anything. Hash browns could have been a little crisper bit were good. Once they put the check on the table that is the end of service. I came into the Broken Yolk on the day after Thanksgiving 11/23 after doing some Black Friday shopping with my best friend. We came in around noon. The restaurant wasn't even crowded because it's more of a breakfast place, which you think would be perfect for lunch. After we ordered, we literally WAITED OVER 30 F'ING MINUTES FOR OUR FOOD to arrive!!! Really??? We saw a few other tables getting their food AFTER we were seated! Food was good (not great) but NOT WORTH WAITING 30 MINUTES FOR! We actually had to ask the waitress if there was a problem with our order! I guess the cooks were waiting for the hens to lay some eggs or something. UGH! read more

Went here on a lunch date and had a decent experience the place is fairly large and has a "Big Ass Fan" right in the center for Imperial Valley summers I imagine, some of the booths are quite large and can accommodate larger parties. The food was ok although the beans they serve are bland and plain in flavor the menu is more tailored to breakfast than lunch though something you should keep in mind before coming here. The drinks come served in a large cup I don't even think I needed a refill on this trip which must make it nice for the servers. We've been to Broken Yolk 3 times now. Twice on a weekday morning, and once close to closing time on a weekend. All 3 times we have had attentive, friendly servers and the food has been really good. We've had Eggs Benedict, Nutella crepes, and tried a couple different omelettes. All good. My husband also attempted the challenge, and although he can eat like a beast...those biscuits are deceiving and already have you beat. Came here for a brunch with my boyfriend when we were in town for a wedding. I had already eaten a bit of breakfast before I came here, so I ordered a parfait. In all honesty, it was meh. The food portions are well worth the price point with fresh servings and hot plates. Make sure to ask for the fresh fruit vs. the frozen if food and taste is important to you.
