I had great memories of my trips to Brogen's in college.... then I went back.. FOR THE LAST TIME. I enjoyed the mixed company, locals, first timers, teenage trust fund kids, and nostalgic's like me. My main bartender with a little grizzle in his beard was attentive and prompt. At 1am my brand new guinness was throw away by the bouncer/bar back. When I immediately told him that the beer was a brand new he shrugged and walked away. I told my trusty bartender what happened and he immediately replaced my Guinness... I was committed to the service. At closing time the bouncer/bar back told everyone "close your tab or get out." I tried to close my tab for about 10 minutes but my bartender was not there, nor anyone else. When the same bouncer/bar back told me to get out, I responded, "I haven't closed my tab because no one is behind the bar, but I will be happy to come back tomorrow and add to it." I meant ZERO sarcasm because I had a great night..... but homeboy led me by my shirt sleeve to the bar, grabbed a bartender (who had not served me all night) from the back and told him that "I would not close my tab because I could not get service." The unknown bartender said, "SORRY YOU HAD TO WAIT, NICE STARCHED SHIRT." The first part obviously lacked sympathy... the second an insult to the simple white button down shirt I had worn to the bar. He made another insulting comment and rang me up for $30 for 1 Guinness, 1 Vodka Tonic, and 1 Makers Water. Perhaps, most people are so drunk that they do do not remember what they order... I was not in this category. When I studied my tab without immediately signing, the unknown bartender said, "IS THERE A PROBLEM?" I told him that it seemed I was overcharged to which he told me, "BROGEN'S HAS A $25 MINIMUM." He then said, "IF I OVERCHARGED YOU, LET ME MEET YOUR MINIMUM!" HE PULLED OUT HIS WALLET AND SLAPPED FIVE $1 DOLLAR BILLS ON THE BAR. REALLY? read more

Brogen's North is located on Frederica Road on the right, about a mile past the Sea Island Causeway. Brogen;s North is in the same shopping center as the Yum Yum Shop. Brogan's North serves up one of the best hamburgers and fries on the Island. One of my personal favorites is the Blue Cheese Steak salad. They also serve a variety of appetizers, salads, seafood and sandwiches. Call ahead and check with them on their daily special, which is also posted on a blackboard in front of the restaurant. March 21 was our third visit in recent years. We live in Atlanta. Biogen's North is a super place for families. We only have had wings and burgers. Both were great. The burgers on March 21 were cooked exactly as requested. The meat taste and quality were perfect. We rate it 9+ and will go again. read more

I've been going to Brogen's North for 20 years now and it's at the top of my family's list when we visit the area. On our recent visit on July 10th our waitress was on her last day of training and she was amazing! There are so many good appetizers we can never pick just one! Some of our favorites are the fish fingers, potato skins, and the buffalo fingers! We rarely order pizza but while we were there we saw at least 20 people walk out with one so it must be great. My sister and I love the black and blue pasta and the burgers are yummy! It's the perfect casual, come as you are restaurant and it's great for kids! read more

We regularly go to Brogen's and have always liked it. The last 3 visits, we both ordered our favorite burgers, medium rare, and they have ranged from medium-well to shoe leather. We could have sent them back but who wants to wait another 15? What's up Brogen's? Even medium would be bearable. read more

We love Brogens's North! It's close to home and has a great neighborhood feel. Robbie and Bill are great behind the bar and the food is good. I don't look at the decor, I don't look at ceiling fans to see if they are clean, I don't time the kitchen because sometimes they are slammed and sometimes they're not. It's convenient, friendly, and has good food, cold beer, and reasonable drinks. Keep up the good work guys. Don't change a thing. read more

I prefer Brogen's North over Brogen's South because it is less of a "sports bar." I also believe the food is of better quality. I had a house salad and it was pretty darn good. Not to mention the fries were A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. They have a game area with lots of fun arcade games for kids. The service was a little bit slow when I went but they were busy that night. All in all, Brogen's North is a must-try! read more

Voted best burger and I agree!!! Party scene is by the pier I went to the quieter north location. Great burger great fries good coleslaw! Onion rings are huge! Service was great such a sweet guy and very helpful. Definitely worth a trip for a great burger and great environment. read more

This place is GREAT! The pizza is the best I have seriously ever had and the wings are amazing (make sure you get them finished on the grill!). Great drink prices, a family atmosphere, and just a nice place overall to get some great food. Highly recommended!!! read more

What a disappointment - Worst house salad I've ever been served. Brogan ' in the Village is great, but this place . . .

We got here around 6:15 and the place was mostly full, but I wouldn't say crowded. We were seated right away, ordered quickly. But the appetizer took what felt like forever (probably 20 minutes) and the food even longer. The food was only mediocre. The hush puppies had zero flavor. The French fries weren't special. The homemade chips were good, but salty. The fried shrimp was alright, but very greasy. The burger was good. The service was also pretty inattentive. We rarely saw our waitress and she didn't check in much. I need tartar sauce for my shrimp and it took a full 5 minutes after our food was delivered before we saw her. This has to be the filthiest place on SSI. The burger was ok but nothing great, I don't think their A/C was working. The sweet tea was good.I recommend at least shampooing the carpet it's disgusting and the floor is sticky. read more

This place is always so crowded and I pass it several times a day so I finally stopped in. The Yelp reviews were so good, I thought I was missing out by not dining here. Boy, was I wrong. In my opinion this place is really quite stunningly awful. I will start out to say that the service and waiter attention is very fast - something unheard of on this island. The décor is something like a fort that you may have constructed in the woods when you were a child in the 1970's. The indoor/outdoor carpet was filthy as was the ceiling, ceiling fans and framed "artwork". I was afraid that a giant dust ball was going to land on my food. But, then again it may have made my meal more tasty and more tender. I don't know what the cut of meat was on my Prime Rib sandwich, but it was certainly not Prime Rib. Whatever meat it was, it was tough, grisly and when I tried to cut through it...I could not as it was held together so well with sinew. Does Gorilla Glue make steaks? My son's burger was way overcooked and the bun was burned. He also requested it be served plain but it came slathered in mayo with lettuce and tomato. My daughter got the 10" pizza that looked and tasted like something from Chucky Cheese or worse, the frozen food section of Winn Dixie. I cannot imagine why anyone would ever return but then again there is a line out the door at Longhorn's and Golden Corral too. read more

Nice little, pub/sports bar near where we stayed in SSI. Crowded dining room and bar area. We were seated at a high top in the bar area. Great spot to watch the football games. Beers and crab cakes started us off. Beers nice, crab cakes about what you'd expect from this type of place. That was followed by a nicely blackened grouper sandwich and a very sad portion of onion rings. I would suggest a different side like fries. The other sandwich was a Reuben which quite frankly was the best one my GF ever had. I am not a fan of Reuben's but I tried it and it was very tasty. She also had the sweet potato fries which she enjoyed quite a bit. If you are up for watching the games and want to grab a burger or sandwich, give them a try. read more
