The lovely K and I enjoy a weekend brunch out, to be sure. At our fairer half's suggestion we stayed close to home and stopped at Brogan's this past weekend. At first glance, the window paint is a bit odd, the entry crowded and cluttered, and the beverage cooler as soon as you walk in a bit confusing. Once we were told that table 3 by the window was sanitized, we sought out our spot to find the menu under the plastic protection sheet. I felt like I was at my Grandparents place and sitting on the couch, or walking up the stairs upon the carpet protection runner. The menu appeared to be quite strict with "no substitutions" everywhere. The four slices of bacon for the full breakfast appears to be generous, but the whole plate itself was underwhelming. Zero seasoning on anything provided a homogeneous taste. I was unable to discern any difference from the toast, the eggs, or frankly even the bacon..... it just all tasted the same. The lovely K's eggs were far from over easy, the bacon again plentiful, but tasteless, and the pancakes run of the mill. The Presidents Choice table syrup capped the entire experience off. The peanut butter and jam packets when creating a PBJ toast offering tasted like absolutely nothing. Basic food offering, but at $16 per plate for far from inspiring food, it's overpriced, in our opinion, not worth the money when there are so many better choices within walking distance. Upon entering........impressive. Even 45's stuck all over the ceiling. Amazing diner colours, everywhere. Booth seating, of course. Even a small stage area. 50's music was playing. Cinevault (classic movies) was on the big screen TV. Ambience was great! Had a grilled cheese with fries, a side of gravy, and a cotton candy milkshake. GC was just OK. Didn't have a sharp taste, as I would expect from the cheese. Seemed like a marble cheese. Fries and gravy were decent. The milkshake was very good. Great presentation, with a candy strip on the top, and the stainless mixing cup on the side; with the rest. Not a huge amount, but normal, I guess. Thing is, I ordered a "NON-Adult Milkshake". Large. Up on the chalkboard, it says the adult ones are $15. Must have alcohol in them. Mine certainly didn't. It even showed on the under-glass menu on my table, the large milkshakes weren't over $10. Yet they charged me $15. That's right, a FIFTEEN dollar milkshake ( I, do, not, care, that it's 2024 ). It also showed the grilled cheese as $10; they charged me $12. Now I've read many reviews on Google. People saying they were overcharged. A few months ago, with this higher-than-menu-price business. And they're still doing this?? Update your menu's already! We were handed menus and told to pick a booth by the window. I ordered Eggs Beny, hashbrowns were cold and tasteless. Hubby ordered omelet, hashbrowns were cold and never got his toast. Son ordered Mac and cheese with fries, Mac and cheese cold. I asked for a glass of water, never got it. No quality check after food delivered. No one asked if we wanted a refill on our coffee or dessert. We will not be going back. read more

I love coming here all the time for their amazing location and unique décor. We ordered the BLT sandwich with there famous onion rings. The BLT sandwich had big thick slices of bacon, along side a lightly dressed golden brown toasted white bread. The lettuce was crunchy and and the tomatoes tasted fresh. I had to try their BLT sandwiches as they were a classic for the any picnic. It also came with a home style thick cut fries which really compliment the whole meal. * BLT with fries ($11) This portion is perfect for dates and just something simple to share, and who doesn't like bacon? * 8/10 - in love with this place, some parts were just under seasoned. * 8/10 - it's cheap for sharing, but the portions are not that big if you are sharing. read more

We moved to Langley a year and a half ago and only now went to Brogan's. We should have ate here from day one!! Food is fantastic, great ambiance of a 50's diner with live music every other Saturday. Friendly staff and awesome owners! Very reasonably priced. We had the Patty Melt and the Richard Martin burger with homemade fries. They are a TOTAL COMMUNITY FAMILY restaurant....currently accepting donations for the families that lost everything in the apt fire on 56th near 197/8....we came down to donate and decided to stay for lunch....so glad we did!!! Great food! I've got three kids and they love a trip to Brogan's. Weekday evenings are best if you prefer a quiet eating experience as weekends are typically packed with karaoke and live music. Breakfast is legit and the portions are significant. I am basing this review on coming here with my family a few nights ago and the opening remark is confusing. My mom was ranting about how great the diner was so we went with a large group of 12 of us and it seems strange from the point of entry into the diner. Outside were a line up of high end downhill mountain bikes with no mountains to be around but a few unsavory characters sitting in the front booths. Walking our way through the diner it seemed like a lot of regulars who eat there and got some strange looks that seemed like "how dare you come here" walked towards the large table that was reserved for us the staff had to ask some patrons to leave the table as it had been reserved. There were multiple people coming to our table talking to us, thanking us that we came in, one random lady was talking to me about how we were all going to sing during open mike night, another woman gave my brother and nephews chocolate covered bacon, another woman kept coming up to my 7 month niece constantly trying to look at her and a woman with a faux hawk came and took our drink and food orders (she was a total sweetheart) Now here is when things went strange, on the stage for open mike the lady played some strange religious movies that were some off breed of karaoke. I'm not religious but it seems like they kept trying to spoon feed us their gospel music the entire time we sat there. I didn't take offense but it was annoying. The "host" of the night doing the music seemed to think everyone there would enjoy religious videos and ambient music playing, more like "I enjoy it so you should as well" The ambience church music was playing in the background while they were setting up open mike and now the hipsters and what looked like art students started to flood in so now it was a strange crowd of seniors having dinner and hipsters. The open mike started and we opted for the private room in the back, Moved to the private room and the room was a back brick room that was painted with cars and they had a few space heaters to keep it warm back there. It seemed more like a staff break room as it had some multiple bric a brac items strewn about like a old stye piano, tables and chairs of various styles and sizes.The food came and it was pretty good but the fries were either cooked right or under cooked. The burgers were really good but everyone had inconsistent fries. Plus the wrap and one burger a few people got had raw red onions on them as they should have nee friend to the least. I got the fish and chips and they were very pale not crisp at all. They gave my nephew a small cake for his birthday which was nice and also a lemon pie to share. The front washrooms were gross and my son said to me I don't want to use the bathroom here it smells and it was like a bus stop bathroom like smell. We paid out bill at the end and there were so many people milling about at the till we didn't know who was an employee, who was paying their bill, or who was just taking up room to chat with the waitress there. When we were leaving there just seemed to be unsavory people just hanging around the front area where the booths were and the rest of the patrons still gave a strange look of "how dare you came here to eat here, this is our place" I would not recommend coming here on a Saturday night when the live music is on because it's either strange religious movies being played or the usual open mike crowd people who jump from place to place to sing. If you have children do not bring them here because the street people who come in and hang both inside and outside made my wife and I a little on edge. The waitress with the faux hawk was a gem and she worked her butt off for everyone as she was the only server by the end of the night. This establishment great food but their fry times seem inconsistent as you either get fries done right or a greasy soggy mess. However, I had a bit of a disappointment with one of the waitresses just recently. I realize they were very busy that day, however, this waitress would not accommodate my request for a certain alternative to my meal. Plus she was very abrupt when asking me if I wanted my change and when she gave it to me she kind of "dropped" my change on the table. The staff is always busy serving customers and when they are not doing that they are cleaning or getting ready for events. Each month they feed they do a free dinner where everyone is welcome. I was excited to try this place as it is set up so cute with old 50's style diner. The 2 stars are for this only!!! Great photos and model old cars everywhere, its worth seeing. Absolutely loved the look.....but you want to talk about slow. The service was none existent. We arrived for a quick lunch at 1:15pm and didn't get out till after 2:30pm. But that was not the worst of it. My daughters kids meal of $12 came with a sundae that we finally had to ask go to the cash to ask for so they sent us into the ice cream section. There was a boy - I'd say maybe 9 years old at most working the ice cream section ALONE!!! It took him at least 10 minutes to get to us doing two ice creams before us. When he finally did our ice cream it was so small not even a scoop and it was not pushed into the cone so it fell off immediately down my daughters arm. He yelled "I'll do another one free of charge" which was funny (it's notate kids fault) but he still couldn't scoop anything and then I saw him picking up pieces that had fallen onto the plastic sliding freezer doors with his hands and pressing it onto her cone - yes with his hands I had seen him put into his mouth! He knew I saw him so he stopped right away when I looked. I didn't say anything but was mortified. Again he gave her the tiniest pieces of ice cream not even a scoop but I just wanted out of there at this point. Then when we left my adult son told me he say him actually drop a chunk of ice cream into the crack of his elbow and reach down and lick it. Noooooo!! Who puts a 9 year old child to work without any supervision at all. Even the waitress working was sitting while she'd take peoples orders. It was just insane to me. Not acceptable. Someone needs to do an inspection of this place too as we had a few fruit flies buzzing around our table. read more

When I got there the place was not that busy only two or three other patrons in the whole place. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich in an iced tea. When the sandwich came I was quite impressed with a size and that home cut fries hot. It chapter two sandwiches held together long toothpick I pulled them out it started eating one side of the sandwich I did into a toothpick which could have killed me it was half broken off and pug look like it has been chewed on. I told the waitress and she offered you read me another sandwich I said no thank you I had to pay the full cost of the old meal with just over $22 for one sandwich and when iced tea way overpriced for the quality. I could have died with that toothpick chewing though you stuck in my mouth or been damaged and taken to the hospital not once was an apology given to me by the waitress I was trying to get an extra napkin and she was so busy talking to her other friends at the other tables I was totally ignored the whole time I was there. I finally got her attention and she came to my cable I asked her if I had upset her somehow cuz I have been totally ignored. She said she had to distance herself from all tables which wasn't true because she had sat there smooching with her friends for a longest time maybe 20 minutes so I got my bill paid it and left. Food is very plentiful. You get alot for what you pay for.. mid $-teens per plate. 3 piece cod for $16 was great. Food was hot and all served together. Fries could be fresher and hotter. Burgers are very large. Steak was cooked perfect with garlic to the vegggies. Service was friendly but didnt offer refreshments. What a cool place to have some breakfast! You get what you expect from this great little place. Dinner quality food in large portions. The seating is plentiful and the staff are lovely. If you are not a fan of loud noises I would check before you head over as they frequently have live performances that have caused me to cut my socializing over eggs short as it's a struggle to hear my friends over the performance. The food is yummy and there is lots of it. Sadly they don't seem to like to substitute things for those with dietary restrictions. It's quite a neat little place and if you aren't picky is suggest it however those with restrictions should steer clear, you will pay huge $$$ to get a full meal you can eat. I visited the Diner for lunch today. it was my first time and went on a recommendation from friends who had been there for breakfast and enjoyed it. I have read some of the negative reviews and wonder if they visited the same place. We were treated to an hour of fun and good food. The waitresses were a hoot and they were super friendly. The food was a solid 7.5 out of 10 and value for the price a 10 out of 10. I had a burger platter for $13 that included 3 onion rings and an 8oz pattie. We had such great service I have to wonder if the people complaining were at the same restaurant. Our service was prompt, friendly and efficient. There were 4 of us (two teenagers) and we all had something different. All meals were presented attractively on the plate and hot. Everyone raved about how good our meals were. I like diners, so whenever one pops up in my Facebook feed, I follow it. This was quite a hike from the North Shore to Langley as a special trip. I had corned beef hash, which is always a toss up, but I like places that have it on the menu. They use sliced corned beef and not the tinned kind. Good portion, with two poached eggs, yellow peppers, onions and hash browns. It was fine, but none of the flavours really popped. The good lady wife had a Reuben sandwich which was definitely not deli style. A couple of slices of corned beef, cheese and sauerkraut. Not spectacular. Service staff were a bit brusque, probably because we weren't regulars, but overall fine. If you live in Langley, probably your goto for breakfast, but don't drive from North Van. read more

Our first time visiting this restaurant and wish we never made the trip in. Upon arrival, we waited several minutes before we were even acknowledged. Once seated I had to get up to track down a couple of menus. After 25 minutes our order was taken and half hour later the food arrived. If you want to have a conversation with your dining companion I would not recommend this place as they play very loud live music even during breakfast time. I went for breakfast here with my sister and the service was horrible. When we first got there the woman did not even say hello to us, just put the menus on the table and walked away, we then had to wait over 15 minutes just to order our food. And when the food did come it was inedible. Our server did not come to ask us how we were doing or if we needed anything once while we were there; but she went to all her other tables to check on them multiple times. I don't want to assume that she's racist but that's the only thing I can think of because we were the only people of colour in the restaurant. We were ready to pay and I wanted to see if she would come ask us if we wanted the bill or a box, we waited over 30 minutes and still nothing until I asked her for our bill as she was walking away from checking in on the table next to us. Horrible customer service, very disappointed. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless you want bad food + bad service. read more

The place looked quasi closed but we pushed on in an effort to support a local small business. This is one of those instances where we should have trusted our instincts. The waitress was new 2 days on the job and I felt for her she was doing a good job for her second day on the job. The lady supervising her was pretty hands off not really caring much whether anyone came or left.. Food- we ordered kids chicken strips, kids Mac and cheese and half order of maxi nachos. Mac and cheese review: They were out of juice boxes which are mentioned in the menu, the Mac and cheese looked much like a box of craft Mac and cheese from Walmart and the dessert ice cream mentioned in the kids menus was never brought to us, 2/5. It was edible but my 4 year old would probably eat cat food. Chicken strips and fries: the chicken strips had a very strange yellow gelatinous goo under the over fried exterior and over the chicken. The fries were completely tasteless and raw in the Center. Older child completely rejected her meal after 2 bytes. She has no issue eating Wendy's chicken nuggets which I find inedible so I know she has it in her to eat some questionable stuff.... the ice cream was also absent from the order despite a full charge on the bill for the meal. Half order Nachos: the cheese was not bad, there was no meat or olives which for 10$ I would anticipate at least one or the other. Meat was an extra 4$ charge even on a half order. There was a religious meeting going on in part of the restaurant where the patrons were quoting bible verses. They were also giving my oldest child a stare down which I was only informed about once we left. The restaurant smelled of second hand smoke as patrons walked in and out to smoke during their meal. Frankly it felt like we had entered a strange twilight zone cult when we sat down for this meal. The location is large by restaurant standard seating for around 100 at least in my estimation but some very quirky customer service with a let it be what it will be attitude to the whole experience. I'm not sure what the ownership management structure is for this restaurant because once you scratch the surface on the nice enough 50's retro diner decor, the restaurant itself doesn't seem to have much of direction or expectation of what the customer experience should look like. We should have listened to my spider senses. Restaurants don't usually get a second chance with me when the strike out this bad on their first try with me. Service: the trainee can't be faulted but the experienced server overseeing her should have ensured the customer experience was ok. The food took 40 minutes to come out after being ordered despite there only being a couple of other tables with customers, the ice cream for the kids never came and they had no juice boxes. She promptly tried to say she didn't see the other girl seat us when she was the one who seated us. The coffee tasted like it'd been sitting for well over 40 minutes, and didn't have a taste I even wanted to consume. I ordered the Richard Frank's bacon and cheddar burger with fries and a side half ordervof nachos grande. The nachos were luke warm and the cheese has hardened making the chips hard to seperate or enjoy. The burger was decent but the friend were god awful. They were store bought fries baked and served Luke warm and dry as hell with no flavor. I will not be returning as long as the same waitress works here she clearly doesn't like her job and, the only positive from today was the staff were all wearing masks and following covid guidelines. read more
