We lived above the restaurant during that time period. My dad was the chef and my mom ran the restaurant. I love Real Thai because the food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Everything that we ate was delicious, especially the fried mussel pancake! I usually only order pad Thai at Thai restaurants, but I decided to branch out and order the pancake...and I'm so glad I did! It was crispy and even my 4 year old liked it. I ordered the sesame chicken and even though it wasn't as spicy as in other places (like Fongs down the street), it also wasn't smothered in sauce; that gave me the opportunity to savor the fresh, crisp vegetables as well as the tempura chicken. I saw some white people walk past after looking in, I guess they were expecting Americanized Chinese food (Mongolian beef, orange chicken). We ordered homemade khuushuur, buuz, cast iron tsuivan, khorkhog, and guzeenii buuztai tavantsul soup. Mongolian food portions are always very generous. The owner also gave us Mongolian milk tea for free. It may taste salty but you drink it with your meal. In fact, you could probably just order two items for two people. Mongolian restaurants are usually family owned and they are very kind. Prices are very fair for how much they give you. -Homemade khuushuur 5 - Mongolian version of an empanada. They are meat pies with soy sauce, garlic, onion, black pepper, and green onions. They are also very filling. -buuz 5 - caution. These are very hot when they arrive at your table. Take a small nibble to let some of the steam out. These are super tasty when they are fresh. Each dumpling has a generous amount of beef inside. -cast iron tsuivan 4 - these are handmade noodles with beef and beef brisket. I thought this was decent. Not my favorite Mongolian dish. -khorkhog 5 - we didn't pre order so it took about 45 mins. It says it is enough to serve two people. There are hot stones to get the blood in your hands circulating before eating. There are bone in mutton pieces, large potatoes, and steamed flour. Highly recommended. -guzeenii buuztai tavantsul soup 5 - this isn't on the menu but the owner will tell you about it. This has intestines and homemade dumplings (they look like pouches). The broth will warm your belly up on a cold day.
