All I needed was someone to look at a repair they did and they would not take the time, very frustrating

Once upon a time Denver was the world's Carnation Capital and City Floral a major producer of…read moreminiature carnations (and other cut flowers) for the wholesale market. An employee in the mid-1950s had the idea of selling the lower grade flowers to the public. Cheap carnations ($1 a dozen) soon led to lots of foot traffic to the greenhouses which motivated adding additional plants and other retail items. South American competition led to the decline of U.S. cut flower production and City Floral sold the last carnation in 1985, adapting to become a full retail garden center with a landscaping design/build operation. The greenhouses date back to the original cut flower facility built in 1911. This was expanded for retail sales in 1976. The office and warehouse facilities on the west side were added in 1990. This is the oldest remaining greenhouse in Denver. The current facility is packed with every possible goodie for the gardener/landscaper including flowers, fruits, vegetables, plants, trees, shrubs, a huge variety of containers, statuary, tools, and supplies. There's a large succulent section and a good collection of bonsai. Services include tips and education on plant care, pest and disease diagnosis, plant identification, custom container potting, delivery, in-store repotting, plant rentals, an interior design partnership program, and comprehensive landscaping design and construction. I've had the past notion that City Floral was a bit pricy, but I found them very competitive on price in 2026. The products are top quality and the staff is exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is a fantastic facility and very convenient for those of us who live in central Denver.

I am so disappointed in this company. While I can understand the challenges many small businesses…read moreare under (as a small business owner myself) I would never treat customers the way they do. First and foremost, we hired this company in May. They are very quick at an initial estimate which is extremely misleading. They did come and spray for weeds (after it rained which meant that it didn't stick and we had to call again to redo the application) but as for our $5,000 tree needs it was extremely challenging. We never heard a peep from them in May until we reached out, they were then supposed to come in early June and didn't come prepared so they had rescheduled. Who doesn't come prepared to do a job? They were then supposed to come today but just didn't show up without calling or emailing - anything. Our trees are large and we've already lost a large branch which is why we wanted them out to begin with for the safety of our neighbors and family. The final response I received from the owner after saying that if they didn't come tomorrow we would cancel was complete indifference and complacency. The excuses went on and on until they ultimately cancelled because they could not complete the job that we have been waiting for 6 weeks for them to complete. The owner shared that they don't like operating under these expectations and conditions from customers that if they do not come out they will cancel, so they said they would cancel me because I told them I would cancel if they couldn't meet their promises. I guess what they're looking for is a customer who is indifferent and has reduced expectations of a service provider, which is not me :) Here is the final response from the owner "there are many other tree care companies out there." You're right and to anyone looking for a new tree and lawn care provider I would look elsewhere. The google reviews are quite misleading, check yelp before investing time and energy with this organization. It will save you time, stress, and your sanity in an already challenging time. While I want to give empathy for all small businesses that are struggling with staff and equipment issues, there is only so much I have to offer especially when you continuously over promise and under deliver. I never thought it would be so difficult to spend $5K with a company.

With precise and deliberate care taken of property, neighbor consideration, and timing, the business of large tree care is done. All tree care is costly but necessary, when caring for these much needed natural resources. Finding someone to do our backyard was painful until we found Sang and his team! After asking Sang…read moreto come out and give us a quote he was there within a day or two and had a quote for me within the week with everything line-itemed just as I had asked. He answered all my questions quickly and fully while we were trying to make our decision! A couple weeks later when we finally made up our mind on the items we wanted him to do, he was responsive and realistic with his schedule. His price was the best so waiting a couple months was totally worth it! Sang and his team did a 60ft long retaining wall with steps for us, as well as leveled out the terrace on either side of the wall! The team came early, worked hard and got everything done when they said for the price they said. They left the yard and driveway clean! They were very nice and worked with us to help us get the sprinkler in to both levels behind the wall. They gave great recommendations for what to do with the yard and the wall during the process! If we ever need to landscape again or anyone needs a recommendation, Sam's Landscaping will be our first call and we would wait for them for sure!

No Sprinkler Service for you!…read more I see their trucks around town all the time, so I decided to give Sam's a try. We had a minor sprinkler repair situation. My husband decided to work from home on the day, three days after we made the appointment. They scheduled for 8am. At 9am, the guy texted to say he was running late. He showed up at 10:15 and took a look. Very quickly said some PVC is broken. It would be $500 to repair and take 3-4 hours. We agreed (at first) and he said someone would start at 11:30. After considering, $500 seemed high. They would have to dig an 18" by 18" hole (which my unskilled husband later did in an hour) and replace or glue a $25 pipe. We asked about the timing and price, offering $300. He said he can't do that and had already booked another job anyhow. I suspect Sam's might be more responsive and professional for bigger jobs. It's too bad. We plan to redo the landscaping, hardscaping, and replace the sidewalks and patio this year. Sam's seemed like a good outfit for the bigger job, so we tried this test run. Because of this subpar experience, we'll be hiring someone else.
