BEWARE!!! Over THREE WEEKS ago I dropped my very nice, clean, new-ish mower at this shop as it had stopped self propelling. I had to push it there as I am elderly and have no car. The man at the counter was VERY soft spoken and mumbling, and I turned on my phone app. that allows me to read what people are saying (I'm hearing impaired). DID THIS ANGER HIM?!? He said very little & just asked me for $40.00 for an estimate, and I left. In TWO WEEKS I heard nothing and called them. The person on the phone seemed confused at first, then said "Oh...I'm working on it right now." Another week passes & I told my son to call, because I had a feeling they were playing games with an old woman alone. They told him the propelling cable was broken and they couldn't find the part. I find this hard to believe as Wal-Mart & Home Depot sells them for $15.00! It's a common thing to break on a moser and a quick fix! They had no idea how long it may be until they might get one in. They then told him to tell ME to come get the mower, mow my lawn with it NOT propelling (I live on a hill) and bring it right back (They said this knowing I was in my 60's and had walked several blocks to get it there in the first place & it was 100°). At this point is was clear something was amiss. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw on the web site this place is closed permanently! A few people I know think they maybe thinking of repairing this high end mower to sell and they are blowing me off. I don't know what to think. BEWARE of this place is all I can say. read more

My lawnmower broke down between front lawn and back lawn and I called a few places to schedule service. Most places had very poor customer service skills on the phone until I reached owner Brad Buck. He was extremely friendly and helpful on the phone. He told me it would be a couple of weeks because he is so busy with summer lawnmower repairs. I brought the lawnmower to him as soon as we got off the phone and he and his partner took a quick look and repaired everything on the spot. He even sharpened my blades. What a totally great experience. I will take all my small engine business to him in the future. read more

Really appreciated the help loading the mower into my car to avoid windshield breakage and the concern about everything being just right. Really friendly folks and quality work at fair prices. Only downside is you might have to wait a few weeks due to their busyness. I had a large Toro snow blower worked on, and they did a good job advising me on what was wrong and what was worth fixing. I feel they tried hard not to waste my money. Only gripe was the turn-around time estimate was substantially longer than they quoted as the snowblower sat for over a week without getting looked at. I would use Buck's again. read more

I have a powered paraglider with an unusual build that had been attacked by mice while in storage. Buck walked through all of the wiring with me and found a wire chewed through and repaired it and then he found a way to get fuel into the engine to test it. He has very helpful and got me running quickly and at a reasonable price. I will definitely be going back with my other small engines. read more

Brought my chain saw in because it was stalling out. Charged me $60 for a tuneup which is fair, but they neglected to test it under a load, i.e. cutting a branch. When I tried to use it on a branch it continued to stall out just as before. When I returned next day they tested it under load and it still stalled. Then they said it couldn't be fixed. But they would not refund the $60! Previous lawnmower minor repair by an employee was quick and fairly priced. But if owner is there handling transaction, BEWARE! read more

Brad has twice worked patiently with me on keeping our 32 year old Lawn Boy working, and working well, letting me get the parts needed for the repairs and then charging only reasonable labor rates for installing, adjusting, and testing them. He's honest, provides great additional information, and I watched him make a HOUSE CALL for an elderly couple who couldn't get their large mower to his shop. I took my lawnmower into Buck's when I couldn't get it to start. This was in the middle of the summer and so he was backed up a bit (a good sign to me). He explained what the typical problems were with these newer lawn mowers (i.e. cheaply built with plastic parts). He repaired the mower, sharpened the blade and it is up and running great. Price was reasonable and service was completed in the time promised. I will definitely be back if I have a need for services in the future. read more

I called up Bucks to see if they had time to look at my Honda lawnmower that was running rough. Despite being pretty busy, they told me to bring it in. I was afraid my carburetor was shot, but I took it in to get the bad news..Long story short, within 30 minutes, Brad had changed the oil, bent blade, air filter, and spark plug. He fired the engine right up and it runs like new again. Definitely cheaper than the hardware story that ripped me off last time. And I couldn't be happier with how my lawnmower runs now. Great, locally own business that really is not all about the upscale, or doing work I didn't want. read more

For the same price as a lame chain hardware store or flaky rental place, Brad handles your mower/blower issues with skill and a personal touch. We brought our mower in for a tune up and had it back THE NEXT DAY. (Ace Hardware estimates six weeks.) Highly recommended. read more

Buyer Beware! Dropped off my Craftsman mower on 11/2/17 for a repair. Was told that the repair would take a week ("You will definately have this in time to do a Fall Cleanup" he said) and cost $85. Unfortunately, this was not a truthful estimate. Just picked up the mower today - 14 weeks later and is cost $155! No apologies, no discounts. Only a lame story that a part was on backorder. Apparently, some reviewers have had better experiences, but it was not even close to the 4 star performance I read about. Your mileage may vary (as they say), but I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. read more

I loaded my mower into my vehicle to take it Buck's Service, and while driving there I made a mental note to take off my mower's grass clippings deflector when I arrived. I have a mulching blade on my mower and the deflector allows the mulched trimmings to spray into the yard as I mow. I dropped off the mower, and of course I forgot to detach the deflector. I was a mile down the road when I remembered, and I thought to myself "those guys won't lose the deflector -- they run a service-oriented business and they will certainly keep all the parts together." They promised that the mower would be ready in two weeks, and when I heard nothing after a month, I stopped by to check on it. They told me that they were working on snowblowers, and they would call me when it was ready. When I was there, I asked to see the mower because I wanted to retrieve the deflector, but they couldn't find the mower (bad sign, I thought). Two months after I dropped the mower off, I got a call to pick it up. The mower did not have its deflector. I asked them where it was, and of course they denied losing it. I told them that I distinctly remember dropping the mower off with the deflector attached, but they continued to deny losing it. Also, the mower had each of the wheels set at a different height, which is a simple thing to adjust, but does not bode well for a full-service $130.00 tune-up. My wife and I joked about whether I had a premonition that Buck's Service would loose my grass deflector or whether I just have an expectation that small-engine servicemen will be incompetent. read more
