Once upon a time Denver was the world's Carnation Capital and City Floral a major producer of…read moreminiature carnations (and other cut flowers) for the wholesale market. An employee in the mid-1950s had the idea of selling the lower grade flowers to the public. Cheap carnations ($1 a dozen) soon led to lots of foot traffic to the greenhouses which motivated adding additional plants and other retail items. South American competition led to the decline of U.S. cut flower production and City Floral sold the last carnation in 1985, adapting to become a full retail garden center with a landscaping design/build operation. The greenhouses date back to the original cut flower facility built in 1911. This was expanded for retail sales in 1976. The office and warehouse facilities on the west side were added in 1990. This is the oldest remaining greenhouse in Denver. The current facility is packed with every possible goodie for the gardener/landscaper including flowers, fruits, vegetables, plants, trees, shrubs, a huge variety of containers, statuary, tools, and supplies. There's a large succulent section and a good collection of bonsai. Services include tips and education on plant care, pest and disease diagnosis, plant identification, custom container potting, delivery, in-store repotting, plant rentals, an interior design partnership program, and comprehensive landscaping design and construction. I've had the past notion that City Floral was a bit pricy, but I found them very competitive on price in 2026. The products are top quality and the staff is exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This is a fantastic facility and very convenient for those of us who live in central Denver.

Months later when I went to do my own oil…read morechange, the drain plug was stripped and the filter was so overtightened it caved in trying to remove it. They agreed to fix the drain plug, cool. Got the bike back -- now it's leaking oil. Took it to an independent shop for a look. What he found (pic attached): the helicoil they installed is visibly crooked, and there were still metal shavings sitting in the oil pan. Filter was overtightened again. Called Vickery to discuss. Their response was essentially "that was our best guy, he double checks everything" with no explanation for the shavings or the crooked repair. No offer to cover the cost of having another shop redo their work. Just said they wished I'd brought it back again (why would I?). Will never let them touch anything I own ever again and would recommend you do the same. Plenty of other great shops around.

I think they are buying poor quality plants and charging the Hardy Boy prices. Good luck with that! I spoke with the staff and they admitted that they are having a fungal nat problem. I couldn't find one plant that didn't have bugs when checking the stems. Lots of stressed out plants too. Will never come back. Sorry. Too bad since it's a cute store and even shopping at the old location.

I used this company about a year ago and regretted it. I hired this company, Jose, to level a 25…read moreft. diameter area in my backyard for an above ground pool. After agreeing upon price they started digging. I don't think they know how to level an area. They did not use a long board to make sure it was level all the way across. They used a shorter stick. - After a few hours they started putting tools away like they were finished. I walked outside and looked and said, this is not level, but he told me it was. He recommended I put the pool up and if there's a problem they would return to fix it. - After the pool was installed on the weekend and filled it was 6" inches out of level. The water was 4-6 inches higher on the one side. So, bad that the filter return would not work properly. - i called the number and talked to a woman who took the information and said they would send them out. They never came out to fix it. Subsequent calls were not answered as if they were ignoring the phone. I left message and no call was returned. - My opinion is they do not stand behind their work at all. I had to call another landscaper to have it fixed. I request a refund of the funds.

There's never any waiting for them to help you if they are free. Parts are almost always in stock, and Sean is literally a walking encyclopedia of parts.
