The Broadway market really ebbs and flows regarding fluctuations in customers and vendors. It's great this Easter season to see folks coming back after the last few years were more heavily affected by the pandemic. Come for the Polish vendors and food to take home (as there isn't as much hot, ready to eat Polish food now), and have some Filipino, Halal, or Margie's Soul Food. We loved our fresh food enjoyed at the market and were so happy to enjoy rye bread, hoarse radish, etc. that night for dinner. Minus one store for bathrooms and the parking garage being less than appealing to many.

This was the first time I have ever come to the Broadway Market. Our group was hassled for money outside of the building. We spent about an hour here, but the live music was so loud that we left. It wasn't crowded, but it was a Wednesday afternoon. We loved the amount of wineries that were represented, and tried samples at each. The wine slushy was delicious. We had expected to find more Polish venders, especially since this was the week before Easter week.

Soupfest at the Market! A new and smaller version of the Soupfest they had pre pandemic at the Buffalo Convention Center. Grouped together in the Market there were 7 soup vendors and 2 with sweet treats. At Crazy Good Eats I tried the spicy chicken gumbo and the Reuben soup with rye croutons. The gumbo was a very nice one with a great spicy after burner. The Reuben was a real surprise with beef and sauerkraut in the soup. Creative and very tasty. My favorite of all the soups I tasted. Next stop was Blue Fire BBQ with their pork pozole rojo with pulled pork and veggies and a dot of sour cream on top. Nice and tasty. On to 773 North to taste their Patty Melt soup with hamburger and american and cheddar cheese. Very cheesy and a very good soup. I also had their Stinger soup. It's made with stinging nettles. After the Reuben soup I rank this for second place. The sampler sizes were approximately 3 ounces and were $3 each. Not really cheap but for sure it is a nice way to sample a number of soups.

My husband and I went to the Broadway market the weekend before Easter. It is a Buffalo tradition to visit the Broadway Market at the Easter season but neither of us had participated in this tradition. The focus is on polish food traditions. We tried the pierogis from the East-West Cafe. We tried a fried bologna sandwich and a polish sausage sandwich from Potts Deli & Grille. The place was crowded. Many people were buying their favorite polish foods and sweets in preparation of Easter. There was sittings with the Easter bunny for young kids. Polish music and dancing. A real cultural experience. Maybe you should try it?

Came here 2 weeks before Easter Sunday. I learned through word of mouth that this is the place to be during the Easter holiday and is definitely a historical and delicious gem worth checking out. My friend and I perused the market (fresh produce and butcher stand on one end), tried out samples of local honey, jams and mustards, listened to the band, and made conversation with the friendly stand owners (there's a 2nd floor of booths). We thought this was a great way to see what there was to offer (all the food was on the main floor - tons of chocolate, polish dessert, soul food, pierogis and more!) before buying the first thing we saw. We ultimately decided on: - East West Cafe - pierogis (Farmer's cheese and potato and cheese) and polish smoked sausage - Duke's donuts - hot apple cider (from one of the cider mill farms) - Pierogi by Paula - Farmer's cheese - Raspberry filled paczkis and almond bear claw - Kathrene's Philippine cuisine - young coconut drink Everything was tasty but the star of the day was the pierogis and polish smoked sausage from East West Cafe. Plan to spend $20 per person if you're looking to fill up here. A minor gripe but offering more seating would be great. Most of the seating was congregated right in front of the stage or around several small tables at the center of the market. Not going to stop me from returning though. I'd love to see what it's like outside of the Easter season. Parking: plenty garage and side street parking (for a nonEaster Sunday weekend)

I went to the Broadway market for my very first time on Good Friday. Lots of vendors with very interesting products for sale. I enjoyed myself for quite a while as there was so much to look at and one of my favorite pastimes is window-shopping and browsing. I picked up a nice bottle of wine and some cheese, and also some Dyngus Day gear (shirt, silly hat, pierogi earrings) for Monday when I will attend the parade for my first time as well. I would be interested to see what the Broadway market looks like during off-season days. I'll definitely be back.

    I need it........... not!

The Broadway Market was like a ghost town. It was Saturday around lunch time when we decided to drive there to try Kathrene's Cuisine. We learned about them from the article in Buffalo Rising. What a disappointment when after walking around the building a few times, we didn't find any sign of Filipino food. The probably left the market already. We saw soul food available, some Polish stuff also, but generally most of food vendors were not there and a lot of stands were closed. The atmosphere was sad and depressing. The cherry on the top of my dreadful experience there was a meat seller with awful attitude not only to his employee but also to me, the customer. It was really unpleasant transaction and I'm sure I'll never come back to this section of the market, why should I? I don't think I would like to deal with this again. But if you need something like a Polish souvenir kind of 'chachkies', amber jewelry or a new hat, that's the place where you can check the merchandise out. The question is if I ever will be back to the Broadway Market? They say "never say never", but for now, not even in the far future.

Went to the Broadway Market on Palm Sunday. Wasn't as crowded like years passed but had enough venders to make it interesting. My daughter couldn't wait to get bbq hamburger's from Babcia's pierogi and wasn't disappointed and got golomki too she liked the inside but now enough sauce was dry and wasn't rolled tight. I wanted pierogi and didn't like their's so we went to Potts deli where they had a little stand that had 3 items unlike the restaurant in the market that was crowded and smelling great! I love there pierogi got cheese wasn't dry or too sweet just the right mix delicious and the kraut. Was the best not dry or sour was perfect texture and the dough was great and a big size unlike Babcia's .my daughter got there golomki like the inside better from Babcia's but the cabbage was rolled tight and had plenty of great sauce. We also went to Strawberry Island which is a candy stand I love the chocolate covered strawberries but didn't get this time but got an old favorite Charlie Chaplin on a stick! Very disappointed tasted like just marshmallow's dipped in chocolate lacked the coconut ! There was a few pieces but more would have brought me back to the past just left me to regret I disturbed that great memory if they added more coconut it would be great. We had a great visit to a great place from my past I visit from time to time

Descending the elevator from the upper level parking garage is like arriving inside of Willy Wonka's chocolate room.

I've been going to the Broadway Market every year around Easter since I was a little kid. My father would always tell stories of how his parents would take him here when he was a boy, and how different the place was when he was little compared to how it is now. I just love being able to visit this place considering how long it's been in Buffalo, and how it continues to offer quality goods from local vendors. The Market has a number of meat sellers near the back of the building, who offer a range of goodies from lamb to beef, even duck! We always make sure to buy some Polish sausage and pierogis. Sometimes they've got people selling flowers. Easter chocolate is plenty, along with butter lambs and all your favorite Polish treats (like chałka!). They usually have an area that sells dog collars, of all things. But I discovered that Fetch! Dog Treats had a table there, also selling Easter-themed dog goodies. They've also got a little restaurant inside, with diner-style seating. They make wonderful breakfasts, and they've apparently got the best pierogis in Buffalo. I haven't tried them, but I'm sure they're good. I haven't visited outside of the Easter season, so I'm not sure what it's like to visit during a weekday or a weekend, but the times I have visited have almost always been while the market is incredibly busy. It can get particularly crowded as it gets closer to the middle of the day, as opposed to the early morning, and the busy crowds can sometimes make it hard to get to everything, so we typically plan on going early. The Market is seriously great. It's an experience you shouldn't let yourself miss out on!

As a Rochesterian with close ties to Buffalo, I am amazed that I've never been down to Broadway Market, so with Easter right around the corner I asked my friend Lindsay A. to take me on my recent trip there. A proud Polish American girl, I really enjoyed being here during the Easter season. The place was packed and there were some great vendors. There weren't a lot of vegetables, but who's buying that at Easter? We're here for the meats and pastries. Actually, I was on a mission to buy a Placek and get some pussy willows. It seems only in Buffalo that this is normal. I was pleased to find small bunches of willow branches instead of the long, whip-like ones that were more prevalent. I'm a little too old to be chasing the boys around with those things. Instead I like to keep them in a vase on my mantle, and I was happy to find what I was looking for. Also stumbled upon a small vendor Sweet Temptations du Jour. They made a great sugar waffle coated with dark chocolate and almonds. OH SO GOOD. It was my dinner actually on the drive back to Rochester... and I indulged in every second of it! There was also a shop inside that had great Polish items - So happy with my new apron that wishes you all SMACZNEGO! And I got a cute little onesie for my nephew. He's definitely a "Precious Pierogi!" It was crowded and that was expected, but it really wasn't too bad considering. I wasn't buying meats so I didn't have to wait in line for too long. Bought my Placek at Melanie's and I'll let you know how that is later. It looked moist and delicious compared to some of the others available. Broadway Market doesn't really compare to the open air style and size of Rochester's Public Market... but this may become a Holy Week outing I have to make more often!

A flavor of Buffalo's rich cultural heritage is found at this quaint market. Polish food, crafts and some Polka dancing make for a fun outing. Pierogis and pastries are yummy. There are fresh vegetables and meats to buy to take home too. Lots of other miscellaneous vendors to add variety. Simple, but nice. Best to go before the Easter rush. Parking is still free in the ramp.

Love the hustle of this place during the holidays. I went to browse and fight crowds this Easter season, love that they have extended hours. It made getting there easier but the crowds were still sizeable. That didn't deter me from scouring every inch. Meats, chocolates, wine, baked goods, spices, pierogi, hand crafted goodies. Everything you can imagine or want! I left with lots of fond memories from days gone by, as well as a sizeable haul including a butter lamb!

Ask the Community - Broadway Market

Does anyone know if there are any vegan vendors at the Broadway Market? I'm specifically looking for a vegan butter lamb. Thanks for any insights!

What is the market like outside of the 2 week easter season?

Very quiet usually. Same vendors are pretty much there all year round. It's better to park in the upstairs parking ramp and then take the escalators down. But, it's pretty safe and the same goodies all year round. Hope this helps.

Is the Broadway Market Handicap accessible? Elevator?

Yes it's handicap accessible but no elevator. Not many vendor upstairs during Easter but there is an escalator.
