Seedlings here are a DEAL! $1.70 for a bundle of 3. The selection of flowers and trees are relatively large. The vegetables selection isn't as large, but you'll find what you need I think. The workers know where every plant is and can answer any of your questions. They're also dog friendly. Enjoyed my time here.

Gardenville has lots of flowers, some interesting dwarf fruit trees meant to live in pots (might be…read moregood on patios? I didn't see much info about the species and their growing requirements), and an impressive collection of tiny plants that would look awesome in a terrarium. Nice houseplant selection. They had lots of Easter décor when I visited for gift baskets and whatnot. They have a shelf with pre-shaped bonsai trees (seemed on the steeper pricing side) but I did not see any bonsai pots, soil, or care / maintenance tools for them, which tells me these are kind of intended to be a gift-and-forget-tree not a support-bonsai-hobbyists-tree. Overall prices felt high to me compared to other local garden centers and the atmosphere didn't give me a feeling like I wanted to hang out to learn more. Based on other reviews, maybe spring is not the right time to visit - maybe I'll try back in the fall when there are apples. Side note - I asked the shop cat if he'd mind if I took a photo and he turned around and posed! Love the shop cat.

terrible customer service. I spoke with 'one of the owners' and had a disappointing experience…read more I was asking about strawberry varieties, specifically beyond everbearing types, and whether other options could be brought in. Instead of a helpful or informative response, I was met with a dismissive tone and a lack of willingness to engage in the conversation. I completely understand that businesses may not want to share sourcing details, but the way it was communicated came across as unnecessarily guarded and unwelcoming. As a customer who is genuinely interested in plants and learning more, I expected a more respectful and informative interaction. There is a big difference between setting boundaries and making customers feel shut down. Unfortunately, this experience felt more like the latter. I hope this is something that can be improved, because customer interaction matters just as much as the products being sold.

My, sister, dad, & I are big gardeners, and grew up on a family farm in WNY. The soil is…read morewonderfully dark & rich, & I don't remember the last time something died other than from getting munched on! We went to this nursery last May and bought a bunch of outdoor shrubs/bushes: 6 rhododendrons & 2 roses - spent almost $700 in total! Unfortunately, ALL 6 rhodies died by mid-Fall, and one of the roses didn't make it through the winter. We went back to Urban Roots, bringing receipts + pictures of the dead plants, still in their mulched beds next to healthy others. It was then we first learned that Urban Roots does not guarantee any of their plants, even $69 Rhododendron! This is surprising since most or all nurseries I've been to provide at least 1 year's worth, it's notable that I've only used once in 50+ years! Anyway, selection was solid with all the expected types, and the initial experience was fine. Just beware "PRODUCTS ARE SOLD AS IS!"

Love this place and will happily return! It looks small from the outside but don't be dissuaded -…read morethey have a great variety of plants, garden-related items, garden art, plant care items, specialty soils, and really too much to list here. The place smells wonderful as soon as you walk in thanks to a table of blooming spring flowers. I was especially impressed at the collection of seeds that included things I have not seen elsewhere (celeriac! red and purple carrots!). There is a large outdoor section too that opens up mid- to late April, depending on weather (not open yet for spring 2025 as of April 19th but will be soon). Outdoors they have trees, shrubs, perennials, bags of soil, and a nice selection of pots. During the winter they mostly have indoor plants and houseplants, so if you need your gardening fix when it's cold out, you can probably find what you're looking for here. The plants all look happy and well cared for. This community garden center is a co-op full of passionate people who truly care about the place and the plants, and it shows. You do not need to be a co-op member to shop there, but it supports the organization so if you end up becoming a regular it is well worth considering. The person I talked to here has worked there for 15+ years and was friendly and very knowledgeable. This is not like the high turnover big-box stores where the staff does not actually care about your garden success.
