I had a very mixed experience taking a bright yellow cab (which I believe was Broadway Cab) from the PDX taxi stand to The Porter Hotel downtown. The Good: The driver was incredibly friendly and chatty. He actually gave us some fantastic restaurant recommendations to check out while we celebrate my birthday here in Portland. The Bad: The interior of the car was quite smelly, which wasn't a great way to start the trip. The Unacceptable: We took the cab late at night (around 10:50 PM) with absolutely zero traffic. The 20-minute ride somehow racked up a $58 meter fare, which seemed unusually high even with the standard airport drop fee. However, the real issue happened at drop-off. I handed the driver a $100 bill, and he claimed he couldn't break it, returning only $30, essentially forcing the airport run to a whopping $70 out-of-pocket. While I appreciated the local dining tips, using the "no change" excuse on arriving airport passengers is an unprofessional way to pocket extra cash. Tip for future riders: If you take a cab from the PDX line, make sure you pay with a credit card or carry exact change so you don't get hit with a forced tip. read more

Unreliable! We recently reserved a cab (the day before) for a 4:30 AM pickup. We had an early morning flight and chose Broadway Cab over the various ride share options, thinking that if for some reason the cab did not show, we have a number to call and another cab could be quickly dispatched. By 4:35 that day it was obvious our cab was a no show. We called the Broadway office and as hoped, we immediately got a human to respond to our concern. I gave them my reservation #, but they explained that they did not have a cab assigned to our reservation. And it would be at least another half hour or more until they could dispatch one. That would not work for us! What is the purpose of a reservation, if there is no assurance that they can actually provide a cab at the time you've requested? To stay in business, Broadway only needs to offer dependable service at a competitive price. This experience confirmed that Broadway can no longer offer either. I will never use you again due to Ali. A 5 minute ride took 20 minutes and he had to drop me off at a McDonald's. Not where I was going. I refused to pay. It was already over $18, and I wasn't at my destination. He threatened me physically and said he would call the cops. I was afraid of him so I went inside the McDonalds. He followed and told all employees to hold me until the police arrived. I was mortified. And scared. The employees didn't know what to do. He finally left after hurling loud insults at me across the restaurant. Jean and Shara are useless. They obviously let their employees threaten customers. Today while waiting for the car wash spot to open that I had been waiting for after I vacuumed my car I got cut off by one of the drivers. I was there first, and had been there he had just merely pulled in. He was yelling at me with my kids in the car got out of his vehicle and was screaming profanities at me. Over a car wash that I was in line waiting for. I can only imagine how he treats other women patrons. I was scared he was going to be violent, be very aware and vigilant this man works for this company he was in a company car! The gentleman working the car wash gave me a free wash due to the inconvenience this man caused, and was afraid he was going to get even more aggressive as well. I use Tri-Met Lift and they sometimes have to send a cab. EVERY TIME there is an issue!!! They are NEVER on time. One time we had to end up taking thr train/bis home. They were three hours late!! Just was completely let down by Broadway Cabs. I called the evening before to book a cab for 7.15am the next morning so that I could get to work on time. The process of booking it was slow and I had to repeat the information several times until the operator had it right. Then this morning - no cab. I'm on hold for 10m to be told there's no cab driver to cover my ride and it will be 10m before someone is available. 10 minutes pass and still no cab - I call again and now it's 30m wait time but no guarantee. What is the point booking ahead to discover there's no guarantee of anyone turning up. No wonder services like Lyft and Uber dominate. I will never rely upon on Broadway Cabs again. They are the worst and atrociously unreliable. If they actually show up to your house, the chances of you getting a return ride back home are like 1%, they are so unreliable. I've called ride to care to report them from my front porch bc the driver never came. The male driver claimed to be in front of my house waiting for me for the last 20 minutes, which was a complete and utter lie, because I was on my front porch from 10 minutes before the ride and about 30 minutes after (enjoying a gorgeous spring day), and there was no driver, just a liar trying to cover his butt, who should be fired. Ride to Care said that out of 10 complaints, 4-5 are for ride to care. And the guy who picked me up today had a road rage issue, and kept calling me SIR despite talking to me on the phone, and I have a very feminine voice. So a wheelchair van pick up was booked for the said appointment for 1:00, plenty of time right? As the time ticked by I wondered where they were at 1:10. On 12/30/22 I took a cab from PDX to home (NE PDX-8 miles) because Lyft kept cancelling my ride and it was late. I will never do that again! Aside from paying way more than Lyft, the driver couldn't get his card reader (Square) to work and the meter kept running. He still put my card through for the fare plus tip ($38) but when I got my Chase statement, the company had taken another $9.60 out...for what, I don't know because a 20% tip on $38 would have been $7.60 (but I already tipped). Booked a pickup through the website several days in advance for a wheelchair transport for my disabled grandfather, who had a doctor's appointment. 10 minutes BEFORE the pickup, I received notifications on my phone that the booking had been complete. 10 minutes AFTER pickup time we were still waiting for our ride. After calling their dispatch number, I was told that the driver had came and apparently called us and even talked to us, and left cause we weren't ready. If it isn't obvious by now, none of that is true. We never received a call nor noticed any transport coming by. We were told other drivers were busy and it would be awhile before a pickup can happen and I told them not to bother cause we'll miss our appointment by then. I have triple-checked the booking multiple times to make sure that the addresses, instructions for pickup, and dates were all correct. So none of these issues should be on our end. We now have to do a last-minute reschedule of the appointment. And we'll use another medical transportation service that is more reliable and better-reviewed than Broadway Cab. read more

Like most every cab company, the service they provide may pale a bit and be more expensive than shared ride services like Uber and Lyft, but Broadway Cab wasn't bad. I hailed a taxi to take me to the airport; the cab wasn't the cleanest I've been in, but wasn't awful. There was a screen on the back of the passenger seat where occupants of the back seat could watch advertisements or choose to watch news and other programming. The driver was friendly and talkative, but not to the point of being annoying, and it was also nice that the taxi accepts credit cards, as not every taxi in every city offers that. It was about 11 miles to the airport, I was charged $37 before tip. read more

I don't want to even put 1 star. Aggressive, rude, and hostile driver, last night, 5 July 2023, at PDX airport, 11:23 pm, driver's name: YURI. DO NOT USE YURI AS DRIVER. DO NOT USE BROADWAY CAB. We arrived to PDX, international flight, over 24 hours from time we left our point of origin. I am quadriplegic. I can't walk, I can't stand, I am in chronic pain 24/7, I use a mobility device. We had 2 medium suitcases. I was seated on my mobility device. YURI sat in the driver's seat & did nothing in the beginning, HE DID NOT EVEN GET OUT OF HIS VAN TO OPEN ANY DOORS. We had requested a full size van. Broadway sent YURI in a filthy, messy, filled with garbage, stinky mini-van, no room in the back for our 2 suitcases, nor my mobility device!!! (My device collapses into a size that is smaller than a suitcase, & weighs 42 pounds.) YURI: dirty shorts, dirty t-shirt, flip flops , dirty hair, completely unprofessional appearance. Immediately he starts to shout & scream at us. Why? I have no idea. A gentleman by-stander saw our luggage falling off the cart & they start to roll away & HE rescued our luggage. YURI: NOTHING. NADA. ZILCH. He screams at me: "GET IN!" I told him "I can't walk nor stand." I told him that I couldn't open the sliding door of his van. He responds: "GET IN!" I should have told him "we don't want you, go away, we'll wait for another driver" but after 24 hours, were too exhausted to think correctly. I told YURI that I could only enter from the left side of his (contaminated) mini van & again, YURI screams "GET IN!" I said , "Well get out of my way so I can proceed!" He moved but did NOT open the door of his van for me, & I am still seated on my mobility device. I struggled to open the door. Finally he walks around & very angrily opens the door. I do not need assistance to transfer myself from device to inside the van. I am able to do that myself. My young daughter struggles to get our 2 suitcases into his messy van, with very little room for anything at all. She collapses my mobility device. YURI places it, (the lightest piece) in the back of his van, in a non-secured manner. He begins to drive & immediately my mobility device starts flying around in the back. My mobility device==$$$$$$$. It is not something that you allow to roll around in the back of a vehicle. This is how my older device (less than 6 months old, was broken). YURI did not give a rat's arse. He only screams "My English no good!" I told YURI: " Your English is good. The problem is you are not nice. You are angry! We are the customers. We do not pay for you to scream at us. I know what is like to learn another language. I had no choice. I had to learn Spanish. But I am nice!" YURI: " Oh, so you speak Spanish? Ha, I speak, German, Russian, Ukraine, Polish, Czech, I speak SIX languages." I say "That is wonderful, but you must learn to be nice! Wow. I guess I can answer my last question from my 1/18 review - How do you rate a Taxi service? When you're cheated by one, it's really easy. I'd expect treatment like this in maybe a 3rd world country. Someone unfamiliar with the local taxi laws gets scammed. Someone who didn't read the guidebook that says "always tell the cabbie to turn the meter on" gets to their destination and the cabbie gives them a whopping charge, That kind of thing. Last night we hopped in a Broadway cab for a short jaunt across downtown (and I'm talking SHORT). We arrive at our destination and the meter says $5. Cab driver demands $8, stating that it's an extra $1 for each passenger. Problem is his meter says $5. The driver can't make it say anything different. Argument ensues. No problem, I think... I'll call dispatch and sort this out. Me: "Hello I have a question - your driver (gives cab number) is demanding $8 on a $5 meter" Dispatch: "Well, it sounds like there were 4 of you in the cab, so $8 sounds about right." (he has no idea how far we went) Me: "The meter says $5. What's the deal? This isn't right. He can't charge us more than the meter, can he?" Dispatch: "I'M JUST DISPATCH, I DON'T KNOW! WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME?!" (hangs up on me) Me: ... flabbergasted Not wanting to call the cops, I let it go with the $8. Then, and I kid you not, he turned on a movie on his iPhone that he had set up near the meter and watched the movie while driving. I couldn't believe it! If I could rank this negative stars I would. Broadway Cab contracted by trimet LIFT is a disaster. I have actually lost count of the number of times they've screwed us. My mother is 74 y/o in a wheelchair. Normally she can walk for very short distances or stand transfers but after a fall in January she broke her ankle. She is now completely wheelchair bound with no weight bearing allowed. Because we don't have a wheelchair accessible van since normally she can stand transfers to the car and I stow the wheelchair for her, we are now totally dependent on Lift to get everywhere. The two most memorable disasters were in Feb when we were trying to get to Sunnybrooke Kaiser for a post op appointment. The broadway cab was over an HOUR late. Knowing the probability of insanity with rides from past experience I planned for us to arrive an hour early. Even with the extra lead time we were still 15 minutes late to the appointment and had to wait an hour at Kaiser till they fit us in. Thankfully I'd booked a will call return and it was a bus they sent to pic us up. Afterwards I complained and was assured nothing like that would happen again. Tonight 4/9 we'd scheduled a dinner in advance. Our pick up window was 7:30 pm to 8 pm. At 8 we called asking where our ride was. We were told a broadway cab was coming. We called broadway asking for an ETA and was told there were no drivers in the area but they were working on finding one. Fine it's Easter we could wait an extra 10 15 minutes. At 8:45 after we'd called again, 15 minutes before the restaurant was closing broadway STILL hadn't found a driver. Had no idea if or when they could pick us up. Thankfully a VERY kind woman who'd noticed us sitting in the lobby since the start of the window stopped on her way out and asked if she could give us a ride. I explained what was going on and this ANGEL of a human being whipped out her phone, ordered and paid for an Uber for wheelchair users. The Uber driver arrived within 15 minutes and had us at home saving us trying to navigate regular buses in the cold and rain with a 20 minute walk from the nearest bus stop to our home in the dark. Broadway Cab is a terrible company and SHAME on Trimet for continuing to contact with them. Clearly mine is not the only experience like this given the reviews here. It's unconscionable to treat anyone like this let alone the disabled and elderly. Oregon should revoke their license to operate in the state and Trimet should be forced to change their contract if they wish to continue operating. Clearly there were some wheelchair vans running in the area or Uber would not have been able to get us a ride so fast. At minimum Trimet should have multiple options to dispatch rides. This reliance on a wholly unreliable business is wrong. read more

I use Broadway cab through my medical rides. Every time they get chosen for me they are always late, take me to the wrong places, they are rude and unprofessional. It was during that 100 degree weather and I waited for over an hour and a half, I ended up getting heat stroke and ended up in the emergency room. If it was my choice I would never ever use them! I have to talk to the grievance line on Ride to Care to tell them to never assign me to them again. read more

It's not my first choice but I have used Broadway Cab a handful of times throughout the years I've been visiting Portland. Usually only when I get put with them at the airport, since they usually want you to take whatever cab is next in the line. A few times I have called them when Radio Cab is going to be too long of a wait. I don't mean to continue comparing every other company to Radio Cab, but it's hard not to since they're my favorite. Broadway Cab is still a fine second choice though. I've had a mix of good and bad drivers, but never a TERRIBLE driver that has completely ruined my experience with them. We arrived at PDX at midnight, tried to hail an Uber or Lift but none were available (never had that experience before anyplace on earth but that's a different review lol). A Broadway Cab pulled up, my partner hailed the guy and we put our bags in the trunk -- then the guy started saying he wouldn't drive us (I only live about 3 miles from PDX and he seemed to be implying the fare would be too small to be worth it? But I thought I was misunderstanding him) and we needed to call an Uber. (We'd tried that first but there weren't any, as I said). My partner and I got into the back of the cab anyway because we figured we were not understanding what the guy was saying -- but he was adamant: he would not drive us. My partner argued with him -- it was now almost half past midnight -- and the guy got behind the wheel and we started towards home. I realized there was no license displayed inside the vehicle and nothing at all to indicate it was a cab except the words Radio Cab on the door; but there was a cellphone plugged into the dash that was registering numbers like a mileage counter. We were very close to home when the driver pulled over on a dark corner and tried to make us get out of the cab! My partner freaked at the guy, argued some more, and he drove us the rest of the way. Still thinking we were misunderstanding his broken English, I gave him a pile of cash including a generous tip. He didn't even look at me or say thank you or acknowledge me at all. He just bent his head to the cash, counting it out like a drug addict getting ready to go score -- which I now actually think he was. It wasn't just the crappiest cab service I've ever had in my life -- I still wonder whether this guy was actually a cab driver or if he jacked his cousin's rig? Calls and emails to the Broadway Cab office went unreturned. I think he jacked his cousin's rig! BROADWAY CAB IS NO LONGER A REPUTABLE OR TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY. That is all. read more

I manage a group home for adults with disabilities and i schedule rides for my redisents, to get to and from their place of work, through tri-met lift.... When trimet lift does not have drivers available to pick up a customer they contract out with Broadway and have them fill in where they can... THEY ARE NEVER ON TIME AND THEY CAN NEVER GIVE YOU AN ETA.... still currently waiting this morning (7:33am) for a ride that was supposed to be here by 7am...i called and of course.... Do not prebook them from the airport! I tried to book a cab when I got off the plane on a slow time at PDX. The dispatcher told me I should call again when I was picking my baggage and that it would be a short wait time from there. So I did five minutes later and was told to wait on island 3. 40 minutes later in 40 F weather with my infant son, some random number calls me and asks if I still need a ride. When I call back radiocab the dispatcher said "oh really?" When I told him that someone just called. I've used them before and have gone out of my way to recommend them over Uber and Lyft but I will definitely not do that ever again. I've deleted their app from my phone. I asked for a pickup in my far SW home around 9pm on a Friday night. I was expecting them to take the normal amount of say, 45 minutes to an hour before they arrived. To my surprise, 20 minutes after my call, I had a taxi waiting out front. Although, he did try saying he was outside my house, when really, he was at the top of the road, and clearly my house is not there, so when he called and said he was there, I had to say "Um, bullshit". He threw the car in reverse and picked me up, so all was well. The fare seemed about what I would normally pay to go into downtown with a cab from my house, about twenty bucks, and since I was going to Powell and 12th, it was about 24 dollars I think? I received a text message the minute my car had been dispatched and the service was prompt. Can't ask for much more. Clean car. Nice driver. read more

Can I give them 0 stars??? I used them 4 times on a trip to portland because my hotel ordered them for me and they gave me their number so i could order a cab for on the way back. Cab #1-- got lost and circled couple times before he could find my location. Cab #2 called and took 20 min to come because he couldn't find the place (best of the 4). Cab #3- took 45 min to come to the hotel, cab was HOT, and he did NOT take our luggage in or out of the trunk. I had to knock on the window and ask him to pop the trunk. AND i'm 6 months pregnant!! Shouldn't have given him any tip! Cab #4 came to the wrong location, waited longer.... popped the trunk but was on the phone so didn't put the bags in. And when we reached our destination, he forgot to take our bags out, and we were so upset, we did it ourselves... like we did for every broadway cab experience. For my 5th taxi, i got a another number (finally) and used green cab. 5 stars there. Took our bags, was prompt, polite, got us to our destination quickly, even made restaurant recommendations... it was a dream compared to this cab company. This morning, 2/8/2023, was the FOURTH time Broadway Cab as contracted through TriMet LIFT failed to pick me up. On Monday I mailed a long complaint letter with Exhibits to 22 persons or companies related to Oregon transportation in which I fully documented the times and circumstances Broadway Cab failed to pick me up. And then today, unbelievably, two days after mailing off my complaints, Broadway Cab again failed to show. I had to cancel my medical appointment. This habitual abuse of elderly and disabled citizens must be addressed, and I am working on an additional complaint letter right now because, gee, I have all this extra time since I had to cancel my medical appointment because Broadway Cab failed to pick me up. A Broadway Cab driver called 1-1/2 hours after the scheduled pick-up time to inquire where I was. Ahhh, home with a cancelled appointment. Is this the same driver who notified LIFT they had arrived within the notice 30-minute window when in fact they had not? Does Broadway Cab list me as a 'no show' to receive payment when they fail to show up? And when they show up two hours after clicking 'Arrived' in the LIFT system do they get paid twice - once for me as a 'no-show' and again when they finally show up? I'm so disgusted with Broadway Cab for their behavior and with LIFT for their lack of oversight with a contract company. read more

This is the worst cab service. Not at all dependable. I would give them a -5. I have severe health issues and had to wait in the freezing cold for them for 2 hrs. I was in tears by the time they got there and were very impersonal. Another time I had to be somewhere by a certain time and they never showed up so I just had to cancel my whole trip. Would not trust them to transport my dog. Very unreliable and I am very disappointed in them. Would not recommend them to anybody and in fact will tell everybody I know not to use them read more

I was going to the Rite Aid a mile away at Petercourt Square. They were turned over to me by Tri Met Lift. All I keep hearing is that my ride was ready to go in the que. Lift says they were working on another service for rides and it has been a year and nothing has happened yet. They said it would be hours to go one mile up the street om Bares. Broadway Cab you suck bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish that Lift would get its act together. How are people surviving if they are ot working at all. They cannot live on SSI or SSDI. I hate your guts Broadway Cab. You just cant say you will ot pick me up at all. read more
