And for the ride home, they didn't have enough volunteer drivers, so they hired Radio Cab to bring me back. I'm so lucky! Last month I had an appointment set up with the same doctor, but I had to cancel because Ride Connection did not have enough drivers to get me there. There are no alternatives. Ride to Care is an excellent service for Portland, Oregon Medicaid recipients, but is not available to those on Medicare. I spoke to a Ride Connection supervisor, "Jason" (no last name given) but he was extremely defensive, rude and unwilling to listen to me. I was trying to figure out why funding is so scarce for Medicare transportation.

Just nothing... I called the Express Care 800 number to ask what happened but got no explanation. Just "Sorry." I asked why I didn't get a text or an email telling me my appointment had been canceled. Reply was "I don't know. Sorry." Driving there with a bad ankle was very difficult, so I really wish Express Care had given me the courtesy of letting me know they had canceled my appointment (again, a simple text or email would have been fine). I ended up driving to Immediate Care, which is what I should have done in the first place. EpxressCare was a huge waste of my time and effort. I'll never do that again.

I had been dealing with a very bad cold which went to my chest and I just couldn't shake it off. I got worried that maybe there was something serious going on, so I went to Providence Express Care on Kruse Way. I learned that there was a very bad virus going around and they had been seeing a lot of people who had it. The only advice was to get plenty of rest and take plenty of foods and wait it out. Fortunately, it wasn't pneumonia! I was sidelined for two whole weeks. A friend who had also been dealing with the bad virus said that taking Robitussin helped her a lot, so I tried it and it did help.

I had never heard of express care until my obgyn team recommended them after I had gotten muffled…read morehearing in one ear. Express care is less expensive than an urgent care and was just a copay on my insurance. I was told that they deal with less urgent matters and are comprised primarily of physician assistants and nurse practitioners as opposed to doctors. They do not have a lab and do not do UTI testing here (you must go to a stand alone clinic- not an express care inside a Walgreens). I believe my PA's name was Kyle. He and the medical assistant were so friendly and nice! They were able to flush my ear out and I was able to finally hear again! The only downside to the clinic is that it is a little small, so small that you might miss it. It is located to the right of the pharmacy. There is a tiny waiting area of about 4-5 chairs outside two exam rooms. I was just glad there is an alternative to urgent care where you have to sit in a waiting area full of sick people. Here you can schedule your exam ahead of time online and get in and out a lot quicker!

Patients and providers were going in and out of the two rooms, but no one acknowledged my family. At 7:50, and still without being greeted, my husband checked with the pharmacy and was told they are not affiliated with the clinic, but that someone should see them shortly. A little after 8PM my husband finally was able to talk to the provider who told him that their appt. system was down, and now that it was after 8PM they were closed and we'd need to reschedule her appt. What? Even if the system was down, it was obvious that they'd been sitting in the waiting area for over 30 mins. Disappointed and frustrated.
