Well lucky me, because Marengo was close to my location downtown and in one of my favorite buildings of all time - The Arcade! I said alrighty, let's give this spa a try! I had a deep tissue massage (express) with Brandi and I have continued to see her ever since - for longer periods now! She knows the right pressure points, makes you feel super comfortable, allows you to guide the level of conversation you do/don't want and is a genuine and easy person to be around! I'll be honest, I was a bit wary going into my first massage ever as a female in her 30s. Like have I been living under a cave? Yes. Indeed I have. For some reason I was worried it would be awkward in some way or feel forced to talk to a stranger. I don't know. Usually I had partners try to give me a massage after a long work week but it is JUST NOT THE SAME. I promise. Unless your partner is a licensed massage therapist I guess hehe. Also, five stars for the rest of the staff too. Monique, the owner, is absolutely wonderful and makes you feel at home every single time. I get my pedicure done there as well by a lovely gal and I've also had a very detailed manicure! I have yet to get my hair done but I'm considering that next! She confirmed whether or not I had ever had a facial so I knew what to expect (I've had only 1 before and this one was over the top compared to the basic one I received before). I was thrown off at first when I had to take my shirt off and get under a towel because it was a facial. It was really a facial for the face, the neck, ears, shoulders and top chest area. There was definitely a massage and amazing feels from all the oils, lotions and whatever else was used on me. The best. Rather than immediately posting a negative review, I chose to write a letter to the manager, Kelsey, explaining what happened because I felt it was something she should be aware of. I also left my phone number in case she wanted to contact me for additional details. I genuinely hoped that sharing my experience would help her understand why I left feeling frustrated. Four days later, Kelsey called me. The first thing she told me was that I would be reimbursed and that I was being banned from all of their locations. I was completely dumbfounded. I asked why I was being banned and explained that if I had done something inappropriate or violated some policy, I would certainly like to know so I could understand and correct it. She refused to explain. When I said that I thought it was unfair to ban me without telling me why, she responded sarcastically, "How nice that you want to reflect on yourself." I later called back once to ask about the amount of the reimbursement, and she explained that to me. During that conversation, I again politely asked if she would explain why I was being banned. She said she would rather not. She then told me that if I contacted her again, she would press harassment charges and hung up on me. I spoke with her twice--once when she called me and once when I called back with a question about the reimbursement. I find it extremely troubling that asking reasonable questions about why I was being banned was characterized as harassment. I am still completely baffled by how this situation was handled. I initially took the time to communicate my concerns privately and respectfully rather than publicly posting a negative review. Unfortunately, the response I received was so unexpected and unprofessional that I feel others should be aware of my experience. While the staff I initially encountered were kind and helpful, the way this situation was handled by management left me extremely disappointed. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this establishment.

I got checked in pretty fast and got seated within 20 minutes of getting the chair ready for me. I had Cammy do my pedicure in which she did a FANTASTIC JOB! The place was clean as usual and the hooks behind the massage chairs were definitely convenient to place my purse on. I received the 'Whole Lotta Luv Pedicure" in which the massage part of the package was put to a minimum and very light massage. It was definitely relaxing but I was expecting a little more from it than a 5 minute rub my calves and feet with the scrub and lotion ordeal. The scrubs and the lotions smell absolutely amazing which put me in a good mood. They do accept walk ins at this place but they will always take the appointments before they take a walk-in, so you never know how long you will have to wait. (So I would suggest you to make an appointment unless you have hours to waste...) I love their selection of OPI nail polishes and they do have shellac available as well, but I did not get it this time around. I would also suggest that this place needs to have their workers continue to work on their "French Nail" skills because this is the second time I came here seeing that they are not as cleanly shaped as I would expect a french design to look. I was definitely upset my first time coming here but after my experience with Cammy, I will definitely be coming back (only to her of course).
