I've been a customer for about a year and a half until yesterday. I noticed that the quality of the service had degraded. My nails were breaking days after my appointment, polish was chipping nails were lifting and snagging my hair. My full appointment: nails and pedicure, was done every two weeks and on this past Monday. By Thursday four of my nails were lifting cracking and chipping. I returned to have my nails repaired by Stacy, one of the owners. She used a drill to remove the polish and was EXTREMELY ROUGH; she hurt me. I said to her that it was hurting and causing my nail bed to become unbelievably hot. Stacey told me that I was, "a complainer". I was shocked! I had been a regular customer of hers every two weeks for a fill and pedicure for the last 18 months. I get being conscientious about your work and or the products you provide. However, part of working in the service industry is being able to accept gentle, constructive criticism. If something hurts your customer, you should be able to hear their concerns and redirect your efforts in a manner that is more suited to them. When I first began, as a customer of hers, I was clear to communicate that I did not want the "cheese grater" implement used on my feet and to please use the drill lightly; she agreed and insisted that she could be gentle. This agreement was fine until yesterday. YESTERDAY she reminded me that I did not want the cheese grater implement used on my feet (something we had agreed to 18 months ago) - She was acutely loud with her expression which was disturbing and embarrassing. Fair warning! Be careful not to express your opinions on how you wish to be serviced. Be careful to accept whatever service she wishes to dispense. Be careful not to express pain. Additionally, she's talking about you to others when you leave, I've heard it, but chose to ignored it, yet am smart enough to know that she was doing the same to me. I have been going to Square One in Solon for over a year now and am so pleased with this little shop. The owners, Tony and Stacy, make it a point to remember their guests and always welcome them by name. Their staff is professional, welcoming, and very talented. My dip manicures typically last 4 weeks, which saves me time and money as opposed to every two weeks with the gel polish. This past week, I broke a nail and stopped by without an appointment. They removed the dip, repaired the nail, and redid the polish and didn't charge me a thing. I typically see Bin, but I have seen almost every one of their staff and each one has done a great job. I highly recommend them - but I do suggest that you make an appointment. Also, their prices are extremely fair. A pedicure with gel polish and a dip manicure was $110. I really appreciate this little spa and their amazing service. read more

I'm giving two stars because of the customer service. My nail guy was very hospitable but he did not shape my nails correctly and he did not apply the polish correctly. Highly disappointed because I felt he did great on my pedicure but I am so insecure about my nails now I had somewhere to go and I half don't want to go anymore that's how bad they look. I won't be returning. If I wasn't in a hurry I might have said something but he didn't even give me enough time to even look at my nails. I won't be returning not even for a different nail tech. terrible experience at the willoughby location, was seen at a foot doctor due to the damage done to my toe during a pedicure. i've called & texted multiple times and all the owner has to say is that she wish i came back instead of going to a doctor because the doctors don't fix it right?! i had to ask for an apology!!! absolutely crazy, i was out of work & unable to work for two days NEVER would i allow her to attempt to "make it better" when i couldn't walk or touch my own foot. incredibly disappointed. the pictures are a little much & full of blood so i will refrain from posting them here. read more

Square One does a nice job with the salon atmosphere and keeping a clean environment. However, the services need improvement. I received a gel pedicure that didn't even last 2 weeks! Normally, I can go 5-6 weeks. In addition, they don't know how to apply Dip Powder. On top of that, their services are much more expensive then comparable salons. As a result, I wouldn't recommend this salon at all. read more

The nail salon is very efficient and near. The staff is nice, although some ladies are a bit brusque. My biggest issue is that my manicure isn't the greatest; lots of bubbles in a rough topcoat and my nails aren't fully painted on the sides. However, my nails are very short so maybe it was harder for them to paint. I didnt care too much, since it was only $15 for the regular manicure. My pedicure came out nicer but they do rush a bit since it's a busy place. Overall, average nails but the environment is clean. read more

Didn't have an appointment but was able to walk in on a semi-busy Saturday afternoon. The shellac manicure was fine (lasted a little over 2 weeks) and the nail tech was friendly enough. The issues I had were: 1)The overpowering smell of acetone...yuck. I'm not sure if they were having problems with their ventilation that day, but I probably won't go back to find out. 2) Pet peeve...a nail tech should have nice nails themselves. If you can't find the time to give yourself a manicure at least file your nails or ask one of your co-workers! read more

I love this salon. It was my first visit and I was truly amazed by the service and the staff. They were busy, but I did not, at all, feel rushed or pushed along. My technician was Agnes. She was wonderful. I opted for the hot stone pedicure, and it was well worth the additional charge. If you have a career which has you on your feet a good part of the day, this is the pedicure for you! I have visited many nail salons in Solon, and this one is at the top of my list! I used to come here faithfully when I was in high school. They definitely were the best nail salon in the area. I hadn't been back in years and I stopped in to simply get my acrylics soaked off, nothing hard or crazy at all. Of course this place is known for up charging, changing prices, and for how expensive it is so i made SURE to call and ask how much the service was going to be. I was told TWICE that it would be ten dollars to soak off acrylics, which is basically how it is everywhere I checked. The receptionist was very rude and had a horrible attitude. I walked in, waited for a little and Tony started the process. He did a good job wasn't rough or anything. Not only did he leave acrylic on pretty much all of my nails, I get to the front to pay, and I'm told 15. So I politely ask I spoke to you on the phone twice and was told 10 and she tells me it "varies" on a lot of "stuff" and how long it takes. I quietly paid and walked out. So i paid for almost a whole gel service for a half ass job and bad customer service.This place will never get my money or business ever again. I came here for a walk in appt the girl at the front desk was rude and very short with everyone. Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long. The man that did my nails was nice and professional. However toward the end he kept making some comments about how short my nails were and basically how he would try his best but that my nails wouldn't look very good. A very horrible place I was unfortunate to have my nails done by the owner . The finger file that he was trying to use on me was very very warn down. I had asked if I could get a new emery board . The owner suggested that there was nothing wrong with the emery board and why could not use that one after I refuse to give in my hands he storms away with a very very nasty disposition took a very long time to come back to the table. I will never ever go back in this establishment the treatment was horrible and the job that he did on my nails was subpar. Went there to get my nails done before my baby shower. I was talking to the woman and mentioned i was pregnant (at this time i was 7 months). She said "You're pregnant, I cant tell" Looking me up and down, implying that I simply look fat, not pregnant. She didnt do a very good job of filing down and when i asked her to cut them shorter she made a very audible sound of distaste. I left there with lots of snags and ripples in the paint.
