I come to Broad Street Cafe for two reasons, bagels and paninis. They have the best in town of both in my opinion. They will make a bagel sandwich out of any bagel if you prefer that over a simple toasted bagel with cream cheese. Their bagels are overwhelmingly fluffy and they are made in house fresh everyday. You can sometimes buy leftovers from the day before by the bag for a discounted price, but they are often limited and no specific type of bagel is garunteed. On my last visit I came with my parents who haven't lived around here is about a decade. They both have their favorite places and Broad Street Cafe has been on my dad's short list of favorites since I can remember. My parents both got bagel sandwiches and my dad also got a bag of day old bagels to take home. I got my usual order of the club panini minus tomato. Staff was friendly and quick with making food. The lady behind the counter, I assumed the owner, even remembered my dad and chatted with him while he paid for our order. If you love bagels, sandwiches and coffee I would highly recommend coming in to Broad Street Cafe.

    Roasted Red pepper Gouda soup

Roasted red pepper gouda soup is incredible. Was a firehouse, so has a fun retro feel. Very nice staff and owner. Decent prices.

I stopped by here on the way to Chicago, it's a decent sized old school diner. We ordered at the counter. I was happy to see they had my favorite raspberry seltzer, used to love this stuff ages ago. I had a vegetarian and added cream cheese, my friend had a chicken wrap sandwich. The food was good, service was as well.

We wanted a quick but fresh place to eat and found Broad Street Café. I expected more than what we got from this place. We came in within an hour of closing (3p) and I could get the vibe that the staff were annoyed we were there. Staff was not friendly and not very helpful. No customer service. The place is an old fire house which is very cool but is tired looking - regarding the décor, tables/chairs, and set up. Felt dingy too. I was impressed with the menu and found it to have a lot of good options, but the execution was lacking. I got the special - smoked turkey bagel which came with a drink and a side [either chips or potato salad]. The chips are from Gordon's and so is the potato salad, meh. The bagels were great, and I think they were fresh. I noticed some cookies and other baked goods. Overall, this place was fine, not great. It was decently quick and reasonable in price.

Small hidden sandwich place super good great prices. Have a wide selection of coffee and bakery goods! Had peach turnover that was awesome.

Asiago cheese bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese

A very simple breakfast but oh my gosh was it good. I have never had a bagel like this before. I'm so used to bagels being dense and chewy and almost hard. This had a fluffy texture almost akin to bread, not your typical bagel. And that was the great thing about it. It WASN'T your typical bagel. It made me want to eat more. I wanted to keep experiencing this texture that I had never experienced before. Bread but not, bagel but not. The best combo of both. And I'm so glad I chose the Asiago cheese bagel because it went perfectly with the sausage, egg, and cheese that was smooshed in the middle. Ah... one of my biggest food regrets after having left there. I want one so badly now.

The bagels and cream cheese are really good here. They sell Natalie's orange juice. Muffins are ok. Prices are reasonable. A solid stop.

We ordered lattes, a ginger shot, and avocado toast with an egg over easy. My latte I ordered with lavender. So yummy! The portions were large. The avocado toast was okay. I would probably get something else off the menu. Everyone else's food looked amazing! Our avocado toast came with four pieces. The toast wasn't toasted. We weren't able to pick up our toast. Lots of avocado which was great. We added an egg, which really covered one piece of toast. I would probably go with the breakfast tacos or omelette next time. The people were so kind! There is overflow parking down the street. Easy walk.

The coffee tasted like ground asphalt mixed with cleaning solution, and the latte was completely undrinkable. To top it off, there were flies crawling on the big, beautiful muffins displayed by the door -- definitely not what you want to see before breakfast. For $25 for two coffees and two muffins, I expected something special -- not a science experiment gone wrong in a cup. The service made things worse. We felt rushed out the door as staff kept stopping by every couple of minutes to take something away -- a spoon, a knife, a plate -- each on separate trips. It was absurd. Aesthetically, Clifford's nails it. But between the awful coffee, the flies, and the constant interruptions, it was an expensive disappointment. Beautiful place, but we won't be back.

The food here is ok but apparently they want to lose a customer over refusing to refund an item…read morethat was not given, like I don't spend enough in their expensive store on a regular basis anyway. Or, I did. This person must really need 50 cents badly to actually ignore a customer and to refuse a refund. Your business will not last if you do not have the management skills to back up cooking skills. And this is a small area. When a customer asks you why you charged them something, they are not just asking. It is theft. I expect an answer when I ask that question. My receipt clearly shows a custom charge of 50 cents, for a side of sauce that I did not receive. It was actually supposed to be a dollar because I ordered 2 sides. I sent a message and was told that I was not charged, end of reply. I replied that I was. Instead of sending a refund, they sent me a copy of the current receipt that clearly shows a 50 cent custom charge on it. I am not the blind one here. I messaged again asking what the charge was for, if not for the sauce. No reply. I am also tired of tipping on takeout just to have no one check the orders and for it to go out wrong, no more. What is the tip for? It was 2 items, juice, and some sauce, not hard to get right. Tip in cash only if your order is correct. A normal response would also be to apologize for getting the order wrong to begin with. I have not received another response or a refund so I take it that they feel entitled to take money for items not given. It is not about the amount of money, just the audacity and bad business practices. Shameful behavior. There is nothing special about the menu here so something better will eventually take its place.
