Super cool place on the inside - muster up the courage to go in what looks like a seedy bar scene from outside. Place has a fun /fantastic menu. Loved the separate dining rooms down the hall (good for private parties) and the upstairs room and patio access to just party. I'm extremely picky when it comes to my hash. Large pieces of corned beef mixed with potatoes with egg on top! Don't miss it. We stopped at this restaurant last year on our way to our son's home in Washington. We enjoyed it so much that we planned our stop this year so we could have dinner here. My husband had the cheese steak sandwich and I had the honey salmon bowl. Both were good. We finished it off with caramel crunch cake. It was awesome! Best of all was our server Bonnie she was very sweet and super attentive. She's a keeper. Her positive personality was appreciated after a long drive. We will be back. read more

The service has always been mediocre but the food is amazing and the restaurant is very nice. Although the last time I came I chose to sit close to the kitchen where it's open and you can see the cooks at work. If you want a pleasant meal do not sit by the kitchen. The men in the kitchen have the most disgusting behavior i've seen in a workplace. They treat the women awful. They are cussing up a storm and are very passive aggressive to other staff. One of the cooks after talking to a woman server made the comment "either speak up or shut up" and then the other cooked laughed and mumbled under his breath "shut the f up" It is very unfortunate to hear the things being said regardless of the fact that customers can hear. The miscommunication between the kitchen workers and servers was clear. We sat near the kitchen, and could hear bickering between workers. We also called ahead to ask if the rooftop seating was available and if it was a family-friendly location, and they told us yes. However, when we arrived, they told us that the rooftop was for 21+ and because we were a family, we had to sit inside. The restaurant was clean and overall, it was a fine experience. We've been here several times for breakfast and are never disappointed. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Management (Tatiana) was wonderful in the instance where I left my coat at the restaurant and wasn't able to return for its retrieval for almost two weeks. She told me she would put it in the office and the staff could retrieve it when I returned. I very greatly appreciate this gesture and hope to return to Brix soon. read more

When writing a review, I try to be objective, fair, stick to the food, service, and ambience. So here goes. Food : Mediocre. Took 45 minutes for food to come out. I ordered the Salmon my husband ordered a beef pasta bowl. My salmon was completely lacking in flavor, even though it was supposed to have a Burr Blanc sauce. What was on it did not resemble that at all. Dry and overcooked plus I got the tail portion of the salmon. It came with roasted vegetables and I can honestly say I got maybe one zucchini round cut in half (I counted) and two strips of pepper everything else was onions, and there was random, canned corn, mixed with it, which I thought was really odd for roasted vegetables. There was a pile of arugula on the plate, for no particular reason. Mashed potatoes were OK. They had some sort of seasoning on them that made them brownish in color. all that for roughly $40 a plate. My husband said his meal was OK. Didn't rock is world, but was just OK. Service: I cannot speak about all the servers that day, but for ours, I can honestly say that, although she brought our food out, her personality and customer service skills were severely lacking. It took her almost 10 minutes to acknowledge us and only after she walked right past our table, did she stop, turn around and actually notice us. She walked back over to our table and said...and I quote.... "do you know what you want?" there was no greeting, no Hello, no welcome in, no, let me tell you about our specials, just ..."do you know what you want". I asked if they had specials and she said yes, she proceeded to tell me and when I inquired about one of them, and the sauce they used, she said, "I don't know". There was no offer of "Let me go find that out for you" nothing of the sort.... just plain "I don't know" . The owners or managers, might want to teach some customer service skills to their servers, as they are the first impression and face of the business. A smile and a friendly, greeting go a long way. I was really hoping to give them a second chance because I actually love the rooftop bar, but I probably won't be back anytime soon. Second chance because a little over a year ago I went for breakfast on my birthday and slipped on the floor coming back from the ladies room right in front of the kitchen. I fell forward on my knees and hands (several patrons and server's witnessed). Unfortunately, when I spoke about it to the owner and the chef, they acted like because they didn't see it, it didn't happen. All they asked was "are you OK" and then proceeded about their business. I wasn't looking for anything for free, but was hoping they would care a little bit more about a guest slipping on what clearly was something greasy on the floor. read more

Waitress not wearing a mask at all despite going in and out of the restaurant to the outdoor patio (keep in mind Douglas County is one of the biggest covid hotspots in the entire country right now). Wow! So disappointing. The WORST service I've had in years! I'm local and have been here often. Came in at 11:40am with a group of 5. Had out of town guests and wanted to take them somewhere local and nice. After 40 minutes, asked if we could please have our drink order! Then asked how much longer on food and waiter said "oops, I never put the order in." We finally got our food after waiting over an hour. When I asked if the food normally takes this long, the lady at the register shrugged and said "Well, it's Sunday." Other tables were not waiting like ours. Nobody checked in on us and nobody cared. Once we got our food, it was not seasoned at all. I never salt my food but couldn't eat it without salt & pepper. Others at the table said the same. DOESNT DESERVE EVEN 1 STAR!!!!!! My husband and I Just had the worst meal experience eating here tonight. To start, while I was getting into our booth I made eye contact with our waitress and smiled at her. She glared at me with no attempt to seem pleasant in any way. When she came to give us our menus, I asked her if she could tune the tv ( we were in the bar area) to Thursday night football. She replied. "only if the tv will let me". She then put the channel on some random sports commentary and left. She came back a little later and took our drink and dinner orders and left. She came back with my husband's salad making no verbal exchanges. All while she was chatty with other customers dining at other tables. After my husband finished his salad ( about 15 minutes) I realized that we hadn't gotten our drinks nor was there anyone preparing them. I asked my husband if he wanted to leave and go somewhere else. He said that he would at least have to pay for his salad which I would have gladly left $5 on the table and left without any regrets. We must have looked thoroughly disappointed because another cheerful waitress came up to our table and asked us if we had wanted to order anything else to drink besides our waters in which we replied that we had placed drink orders with the unfriendly waitress 20 minutes ago. She apologized for her coworker and went straight to the bar and prepared our drinks. Our waitress brought our meals to our table, placing a chicken caprese pasta bowl in front of me (which is not what I had ordered). She took it away, leaving my husband his bacon wrapped filet mignon and returning with my correct order a few minutes later. My meal was ok however my husband ate only half of his filet because the meat was full of tough fibrous tissues that were hard to chew. A very low quality of beef ( imposter) that was cut to look like a filet. When our check came it was disappointing to pay $90 for this below standard meal. To top off the experience, while walking out of the restaurant my husband was smashed by a swinging door when an employee was exiting the kitchen. (The door opens into the customer walkway. ). We have dined at Brix a few times before with nothing to rave about yet nothing negative to say either until tonight. Needless to say, after trying to give Brix the opportunity to prove their worth, we won't be returning to Brix after this horrible experience. read more

I wish I'd had a different experience and I hope my case is just a mishap. When I went with family we all ordered different things and I think that for the most part the stuff they got was okay (perhaps not incredible but still enjoyable). However, I ordered the Italian scramble and it was a completely different story. It was described as having a good ratio of the veggies and the sausage but mine literally only had two tiny cubes of diced sausage in the entire thing. I think the warning sign for what was next should've been the unmelted cheese sitting atop the scramble. The saddest part about my meal was the raw white onions. I believed the vegetables would be cooked and while the others were better off the onions were just impossible to down as breakfast. It would've been a completely different story if they'd been at least half cooked. It was also shocking because our meal took so long to come out! The drip coffee only added salt to the wound, it wasn't strong enough -it very faintly tasted like anything resembling what it should've been. read more

Brix is our favorite breakfast spot in town and not just because the mimosas are fantastic! We've tried most of the menu items and everything has been amazing! Portions are always sizable and they have a Bloody Mary Bar. I also stop in for lunch often because I work downtown. Again, I've never had anything I didn't love. I usually call ahead and it's ready to go by the time I walk less than a block to get there. Brix has a fabulous atmosphere as well. The main restaurant is family friendly and open, the lounge is great, and the rooftop bar is perfect! Why do we not have more of those to enjoy perfect Oregon summers?! What a great experience today! Our first visit to Brix and we were so impressed with the menu, the service and the food. What a cool vibe at Brix. Love the design and decor. All staff were wearing masks, social distancing was in practice and safe cleaning practices were evident throughout the building. I felt very safe. We learned that Brix had only just opened for indoor dining over the weekend, and sadly would stop indoor dining after today. Apparently the OLCC has threatened to revoke the license if they continue to offer indoor dining, against the governor's covid mandate. My Lord, these people are struggling to stay alive and the state continues to play these bipartisan political games with people's lives. It is very sad to know that more people will suffer from loss of income, loss of homes, business closures, long term mental illnesses, depression and suicide, than the number of people infected with the disease, and its purported fatalities. The restrictions and mandates are more deadly than the disease itself! I encourage everyone to patronize and support Brix. Not only because it represents small, local business, but because they offer delicious food at affordable prices and have a lovely staff that cater to your needs.
