We heard about True Kitchen and Bar and thought it would be the best place to celebrate my daughter's graduation!! We called to make reservations last minute and they were able to squeeze us in at 8:00 PM. We arrived at 7:45 and were promptly seated by the hostess. We previewed the menu and knew we would get the Fried Calamari for sure! We ended up ordering that to share and an order of Brussels sprouts for me! We each ordered the TKB Burger - 2 with sidewinder fries and one with Pomme Frites. Our server was amazing - super attentive and knowledgeable. My son was impressed that she took our order without writing it down. Hahaha. We got the Fried Calamari and it was AMAAAAAAAZING. The aioli was delicious also. The Brussels sprouts were good, but a little more cooked (and soft) than I normally like. An added bonus was the candied walnuts - I haven't had that before! The burgers came out and the sidewinder fries were not the curly fries we were thinking, so my so traded me. The Pomme Frites were perfectly cooked!! I meant to order my burger with a lettuce wrap, but I forgot. The brioche buns were delicious. The burgers were a little messy, but tasty. My daughter and I cut ours to make them more manageable but my son didn't and his cheese basically ran right off the burger. He didn't mind because he doesn't normally order cheese anyway. We were all stuffed so we didn't even order any dessert. The restaurant was buzzing and it gave off a very nice vibe. We probably won't be back. September 30, 2024 Absolutely recommend. We were in Roseburg for our anniversary, so I checked Yelp for a nice restaurant to celebrate the day. True Kitchen and Bar had great reviews, so we made a reservation. When we arrived, we noticed the restaurant is divided into two areas; the dining room and the bar area. We liked the booths in the bar area, so we requested to be seated at one of the booths. Once seated, we each ordered a Smoked Rosemary Maple Old Fashion ($11), which we enjoyed. I then ordered the short ribs with mashed potatoes (Braised Short Rib - Boneless, house demi-glace, garlic-white cheddar mashed, sautéed spinach, heirloom carrots, caramelized sweet onion, $30), and my husband ordered the sea scallops with butternut risotto (Seared Scallops 6oz, parsnip puree, brown butter-sage butternut risotto, parmesan, dried cranberries, toasted hazelnuts, haricot verts, $40). The short rib dinner was delicious. Husband shared one of his scallops with me, and it was perfectly cooked. I'm always hesitant to order scallops, because they can be a bit rubbery, but not here. The scallop was beautifully cooked and wonderfully tender and moist. For dessert, we split a slice of Hawaiian cream cheese pineapple cake. I made a reservation for 5:30 PM and mentioned to the woman on the phone that it was our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess seated us on the bar side of the restaurant per our request. As she handed us our menus, she said "Happy Anniversary!" What a nice surprise that was! We got a comfortable padded booth looking out to the nicely stocked bar. It had a really nice warm feel to it. Our bartender, Taylor, came over shortly afterwards and took our drink orders. "Two Smokey Rosemary Maple Old Fashions, please!" Taylor got right to work on our drinks and we watched as he added the smoke to our glasses. It had a beautiful aroma. He brought the drinks back to our table and then took our food orders. My wife ordered the short ribs with petite squash and mashed potatoes, and I got the sea scallops with butternut squash risotto and green beans. We also ordered a couple of glasses of red wine. I have been here once before, and really like the food. I had the Caesar salad salad today. I was not a fan that it's half a romaine lettuce with toppings on it that I had to cut myself. The yuzu halibut was amazing and will be back for it. The chocolate cake had absolutely no flavor. read more

What a hidden gem in Roseburg. Must take a detour on the I5 to visit this beautiful restaurant. Cocktails were one of the best Ordered Adobo Lime chicken which was fantastic. I scraped off the last remaining sauce from it. Chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. Green curry stir fry was delicious as well. Great Service. We enter and are greeted warmly and asked if we have a reservation. We did not, but it was okay, there are open tables and booths. Menus were provided and drink requests were taken. The booth had plenty of legroom and the seating was comfortable. The staff were very polished and polite. The calamari appetizer was enough to have as a meal. It was breaded crisply and had a small amount of heat to it that was amplified a bit by the dipping sauce. For dessert I chose the Hummingbird cake. It was a multilayered cake with pineapple, banana and a cream cheese frosting. There were also some fine crisp shavings of maybe almond? Hard to define that crunch but it was a very moist cake that was light and not too rich. The service was impeccable and they even brought out our elder's dessert with a candle for her birthday, just a nice touch. This is one of those fine dining experience places that must be visited periodically to remind ourselves that there are finer things like this to enjoy in life. Friends had baked crab cake (good) and grits and shrimp (surprisingly good). Then we were told the kitchen issue was fixed. Birthday friend had the pork chop. She said it was good. Other friend had a burger. I don't know which one. It was 'interesting.' I had the stuffed chicken. It didn't seem "stuffed." It was OK but not for $31. Hubby had the braised short rib. Now THAT was a hunk of meat and delicious. Birthday friend had Ciderboys Strawberry Magic. It was DELICIOUS. I wish I had tasted hers before I ordered my so-so wine. Stopped in here during an overnight trip to Roseburg and this place was suggested to us from our hotel desk clerk as one of the best places in town I was excited to try! I will start with the good first. The food was very flavorful...both my wife and I ordered a ribeye that came with a Yukon mash and a chimichurri sauce. Steak was on point with its temp and mash was very good. My only issue was I wish they offered the chimichurri sauce on the side as it was a bit overpowering for my taste. The entree also came with some broccolini which was also good. But the star of the meal was their cocktails...we both had the grilled pineapple margarita...honestly one of the best I have ever had...super delicious. Now the bad...and this was really bad...the super slow service. We sat at our table after being seated for over 20 minutes...we actually had to flag a server down to get an order in...which was weird as they were walking past us the entire time. The drinks came maybe 10 minutes after we finally ordered...and when the food arrived we had been there more than a full hour. We were getting so hungry waiting and saw an adjacent table with bread on it...that was not on the menu but they brought us some for $3. It was good and helped...but maybe if you are going to take so long with your service offering complimentary bread could be a good idea? Just a thought. And no effort was really made to apologize for the service or any type of make good...it is for that reason I cannot offer more than three stars for this place...if they upped their service game it would be 4.5 for sure as the food was good. read more

Travis, our server/mixologist was helpful and incredibly personable. Taylor was also checking in on us throughout the night and he's great. Besides the excellent service, the meal was impeccable. We started with the pork wings. They were meaty and tender with a fruity-honey glaze. The tang in the slaw made for a great accompaniment. We based our entrees on the most popular dishes on Yelp and were not disappointed. The filet was tender and the mushroom risotto silky. The spare ribs were succulent and rich in the gravy.
