Great food. Great service. Worth the $. Went for our anniversary. This will definitely be a place we go when we want a nice dinner out and don't want to waste our money on being disappointed. If I had to find something to dislike (and that's really too strong a word for this) I would say that I was disappointed that the chocolate cake was a little too dry. Delicious. But dry. That ganache was perfect, though. I had the Cilantro margarita and oooo, if you like a kick of spice, it's so good!!! read more

We heard about True Kitchen and Bar and thought it would be the best place to celebrate my daughter's graduation!! We called to make reservations last minute and they were able to squeeze us in at 8:00 PM. We arrived at 7:45 and were promptly seated by the hostess. We previewed the menu and knew we would get the Fried Calamari for sure! We ended up ordering that to share and an order of Brussels sprouts for me! We each ordered the TKB Burger - 2 with sidewinder fries and one with Pomme Frites. Our server was amazing - super attentive and knowledgeable. My son was impressed that she took our order without writing it down. Hahaha. We got the Fried Calamari and it was AMAAAAAAAZING. The aioli was delicious also. The Brussels sprouts were good, but a little more cooked (and soft) than I normally like. An added bonus was the candied walnuts - I haven't had that before! The burgers came out and the sidewinder fries were not the curly fries we were thinking, so my so traded me. The Pomme Frites were perfectly cooked!! I meant to order my burger with a lettuce wrap, but I forgot. The brioche buns were delicious. The burgers were a little messy, but tasty. My daughter and I cut ours to make them more manageable but my son didn't and his cheese basically ran right off the burger. He didn't mind because he doesn't normally order cheese anyway. We were all stuffed so we didn't even order any dessert. The restaurant was buzzing and it gave off a very nice vibe. We probably won't be back. The pricing was a little out of our normal dinner range, but it was a special occasion. Aside from the fried calamari, we weren't really impressed with the food. Our server was amazing, though!! read more

Brought my younger sister here for her birthday and it was a great decision. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees - I will be returning for those apps. Those drinks are just as good - if you like sweet drinks, the pear blossom is amazing. Service was great, we were seated immediately on a Wednesday night. read more

Located in downtown Roseburg, with lots of street parking around. This restaurant is pretty popular so try to make a reservation or snag a seat at the bar. Cocktails and food is good. Would highly recommend the mushroom appetizer. Food is expensive for the amount you get, 3 people was about 200$ read more

Always a pleasure. Thank you. The best choice in Roseburg. 10 year anniversary because they are consistently crushing it.

The food here has gone down in value significantly which is concerning because there aren't many "fine dining" options in this area. The servers and bartenders do their absolute best so no issues there. I do think they should consider changing the menu providing a variety of options maybe something seasonal. Think bigger! read more

What's wonderful surprise! The food, service and atmosphere were all terrific. Great cocktails, lots of food options. We were so pleased.

September 30, 2024 Absolutely recommend. We were in Roseburg for our anniversary, so I checked Yelp for a nice restaurant to celebrate the day. True Kitchen and Bar had great reviews, so we made a reservation. When we arrived, we noticed the restaurant is divided into two areas; the dining room and the bar area. We liked the booths in the bar area, so we requested to be seated at one of the booths. Once seated, we each ordered a Smoked Rosemary Maple Old Fashion ($11), which we enjoyed. I then ordered the short ribs with mashed potatoes (Braised Short Rib - Boneless, house demi-glace, garlic-white cheddar mashed, sautéed spinach, heirloom carrots, caramelized sweet onion, $30), and my husband ordered the sea scallops with butternut risotto (Seared Scallops 6oz, parsnip puree, brown butter-sage butternut risotto, parmesan, dried cranberries, toasted hazelnuts, haricot verts, $40). The short rib dinner was delicious. Husband shared one of his scallops with me, and it was perfectly cooked. I'm always hesitant to order scallops, because they can be a bit rubbery, but not here. The scallop was beautifully cooked and wonderfully tender and moist. For dessert, we split a slice of Hawaiian cream cheese pineapple cake. Totally enough for two people, and a very nice ending to a great meal. Note: Definitely make a reservation. read more

This used to be the best date night place for my husband and myself. The food has gone downhill and prices are raised... I expect the raise in price but not the downhill slide on our meal. I used to love the scallops literally any way they were prepared whether on the appetizer menu or main course.... Recently and it's still only on one menu it's a gross corn scallop thing not good and not worth $40 please go back to the orzo for the main course and cheesy polenta with a bacon fig jam for the appetizer scallops. The newish ones that have been on the menu now for at least 2 years are just gross read more

My wife and I had a reservation for 5 pm. We showed up a little early and were greeted and seated in the bar area immediately. There were other tables available. There we sat until twenty after five without so much as a notice, although there were servers, including the bar tender, walking around and past us. The bar had seven or eight people at it and there were three tables with people eating. At that point I noticed a girl in a corner behind the bar preparing dinner ware. I motioned her and asked if it would be possible for us to get a drink while we waited. She checked with the bar and apparently was given permission to waite on us. She was sweet and did her best. We ordered some horderves, and a drink. The horderves were good. as were the drinks, although a little slow in coming. (The bar tender, who I assume was supposed to be our waiter was very busy flirting with a couple of girls at the bar who I observed have two drinkis while we waited to see anyone.) I ordered fish for dinner and my wife ordered Scallops. The fish, although good, was served with a small side of "greens". The scallops were a joke. They were about the size of a nickel, certainly smaller than a quarter, and there were four of them in the bottom of a bowl filled to the top with pasta. Certainly not as the menu indicated. No other sides. Four little one bite scallops that really didn't, because of their small size require cutting. They rather looked like something you would get in a salad. I had been to True on one other occasion, a birthday party where I picked up an $850.00 tab plus tip. We won't be back. The service, the bartenders attitude. and the food were all poor to say the least. read more

True Kitchen and Bar, Roseburg, OR - September 30, 2024 We came here on the eve of our 35th wedding anniversary. I made a reservation for 5:30 PM and mentioned to the woman on the phone that it was our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess seated us on the bar side of the restaurant per our request. As she handed us our menus, she said "Happy Anniversary!" What a nice surprise that was! We got a comfortable padded booth looking out to the nicely stocked bar. It had a really nice warm feel to it. Our bartender, Taylor, came over shortly afterwards and took our drink orders. "Two Smokey Rosemary Maple Old Fashions, please!" Taylor got right to work on our drinks and we watched as he added the smoke to our glasses. It had a beautiful aroma. He brought the drinks back to our table and then took our food orders. My wife ordered the short ribs with petite squash and mashed potatoes, and I got the sea scallops with butternut squash risotto and green beans. We also ordered a couple of glasses of red wine. The meal was delicious! Afterwards we ordered the Hawaiian cream cheese pineapple cake to split. Delightful! We were very happy with the food, drinks, and service! A great way to bring in year 36! read more

our entrees were delicious and cooked to perfection. My rating is not so high because the portions were very stingy. I ordered the scallops comes with some. pasta. 4 tiny little scallops about 1.5 inch diameter was $44 after eating every bite I was still quite hungry. I ended up having to order more food. They measured the wine I ordered. I saw the manager on the way out and mentioned it to him just to give feedback. He got quite defensive and argued with he said that the portions are 7 ounces of scallops my experience I've been eating out for a long time as I'm in my 60s now and when a restaurant starts to measure and weigh everything they eventually go out of business. Usually, it's a manager that comes in there and wants to look good by saving all kinds of money and making money becomes more important than providing a decent experience and value the place soon goes out of business. I've seen it so many times. read more

Best food in Roseburg. Upscale, nice, high quality in all respects. Great service and attention to food sensitivities. Recommended!

We enter and are greeted warmly and asked if we have a reservation. We did not, but it was okay, there are open tables and booths. Menus were provided and drink requests were taken. The booth had plenty of legroom and the seating was comfortable. The staff were very polished and polite. The calamari appetizer was enough to have as a meal. It was breaded crisply and had a small amount of heat to it that was amplified a bit by the dipping sauce. For dessert I chose the Hummingbird cake. It was a multilayered cake with pineapple, banana and a cream cheese frosting. There were also some fine crisp shavings of maybe almond? Hard to define that crunch but it was a very moist cake that was light and not too rich. The service was impeccable and they even brought out our elder's dessert with a candle for her birthday, just a nice touch. This is one of those fine dining experience places that must be visited periodically to remind ourselves that there are finer things like this to enjoy in life. It is not an inexpensive place for dinner, but it is worth it. read more

Visited True with friends to celebrate a birthday. Mentioned it to the server. Nothing was ever done. Guess they don't even provide a cookie or mini-something for a celebration. First time we've eaten at True. The kitchen was experiencing problems so we weren't even sure we'd get dinner. We were able to order appetizers and our fried calamari was good. Friends had baked crab cake (good) and grits and shrimp (surprisingly good). Then we were told the kitchen issue was fixed. Birthday friend had the pork chop. She said it was good. Other friend had a burger. I don't know which one. It was 'interesting.' I had the stuffed chicken. It didn't seem "stuffed." It was OK but not for $31. Hubby had the braised short rib. Now THAT was a hunk of meat and delicious. Birthday friend had Ciderboys Strawberry Magic. It was DELICIOUS. I wish I had tasted hers before I ordered my so-so wine. Hubby and I have no plans to return. We have other friends that like True and, if asked to go for an event, we'll (maybe) go. Not all that impressed with choices and prices. HOWEVER, I don't remember our server's name. She was really good. Very attentive. I didn't take pics. Sorry. read more

Very good food, I had the stuffed chicken breast and my husband ordered the halibut we both were very impressed! and service was awesome. My only complaint was the seating. Very uncomfortable. You know a restaurant is good when there's a line waiting at the door for them to open! That's was how we found Tru after reading so many great reviews. Besides the excellent service, the meal was impeccable. We started with the pork wings. They were meaty and tender with a fruity-honey glaze. The tang in the slaw made for a great accompaniment. We based our entrees on the most popular dishes on Yelp and were not disappointed. The filet was tender and the mushroom risotto silky. The spare ribs were succulent and rich in the gravy. The white cheddar mash had just the right amount of tang. Those who were not stuffed ordered dessert. It's was a perfect way to end the meal. I highly recommend Tru! read more
