The staff is extremely friendly and the locals obviously love this place because they were very chatty with the two ladies who were working here. It does get very busy (and crowded!) and I have shied away from calling orders in (seems easier to order in person)...but these bagels are the best I've had since living on the east coast. My favorite is the breakfast sandwich on a Jalapeño and cheddar bagel...and their brownie cookie is a chewy-chocolatey bit of goodness...you should try one. So The Bagel Tree Cafe was hoppin when we got there but the girls worked super fast and got us taken care of quickly. I got a lox sandwich sans onion, but I used the special for the week, the bacon jalapeño cheddar bagel, and jalapeño cream cheese. Jon got the lox with a jalapeño cheddar bagel and salmon cream cheese. Let me just start off by saying that the amount of salmon they put on that bagel made it worth the price alone. It was piled high. If we had gone to Food 4 Leas and gotten a package of salmon to make bagels for $8, THIS WAS STILL ABOUT TWICE AS MUCH SALMON YALL! I could taste the salmon, jalapeños, cheddar, bacon, capers, and tomato in every single bite. They had a ton of other stuff to purchase- drinks, cake slices, and so many other tasty treats. I even spotted a "bagel and gravy" which looked interesting. The service was quick and super friendly, and they even wrapped up some pickle slices for us to take with! Best bagels in town (county? southern Oregon?) hands down. We've gone here for years, and it's always consistent quality. My family loves their food so much a bag of bagels and some cream cheese is frequently gifted for birthday and Christmas presents. If there's a bag of bagels in the house, some need to be hidden to make sure they last, and even then people usually manage to sniff them out. It's madness. That being said, service is always iffy. Half the time we make an order when I get in there they look at me like I'm crazy and have never heard of such a thing. Even when I specify a time it is never ready, and staff often acts annoyed that I'm there to pick it up. I get it. It's a popular place. It's almost always packed. But it can still be off-putting. Still, the pros outweigh the cons here for me. Go if: you love tasty carbs toasted and lathered in creamy cheese. Pass if: you don't like bagels enough to brave cramped, crowded spaces or sometimes encountering curt/disinterested staff. read more
