I found this spot just by searching on Yelp the other day and it was a good find indeed. A little bit on the pricey side, but the options were great and I appreciated that they tried to keep it local. There was a nice selection to choose from, ranging from wine to beer, and champagne - yay! It was spacious with plenty of seating inside and out. The bathrooms were very clean and the wait staff were friendly and kind. It has a laid back ambience, like a super chill wine bar in the middle of the bustling downtown area so it was a nice find. It truly breaks my heart to write this review, but I feel it is a must. I've been going to Brix & Hops since it's inception. Great beers on tap, solid beers in the fridge. I looked past the high prices, and chalked it up to "you're paying for the quality". Soon I started referring fiends and family. This was the place to meet up. A hidden gem! Well, they hired a few more bartenders. Understandable, the main bartender needs to live her life beyond the bar, but unfortunately a particular person hired probably shouldn't be in hospitality. DOG OWNERS BEWARE! They allow known aggressive dogs not only in the bar, but right at the bar where you'd be ordering. I brought my very friendly dog here, and was told I could not approach the bar with her since there was a known to be aggressive dog at the bar. Luckily my boyfriend could watch our dog while I ordered, but what if it was just me and my dog? I mentioned this to the bartender and she became hostile. Very perplexing since I was just mentioning the liability. Come to find out these folks with the aggressive dog we're her friends. Later I messaged the regular bartender who gave me a "if we ask to keep your dog away from another please follow instruction" response along with a few more impersonal sentences. All of this along with another bartender who leaves his dog off leash and has had aggressive tendencies with my dog will have me sadly finding another regular spot to unwind with my dog and friends after a long day. Wish they cared about friendly dogs, liabilities, regulars and hospitality more than pride. read more

Walking down School Street looking for a brew. Saw gathering of people across the street so stopped in. Brix and Hops....hmmm, hadn't hear of it. We were there four hours after they opened for business. Nice selection of wine and beer available. Owners very friendly. They do not brew but have a fairly diverse selection of microbrews. No wheat beer but several pilsners and IPAs. They also offered some snacks on the bar. Good experience, recommend you stop by for a brew and a sip. read more

Came here when it first opened a while back, definitely had a cool vibe to it. Returned recently, and wow they had an amazing draft beer selection. I'm a big fan of IPAs so it was nice to see such a wide selection of beers from local craft breweries ranging from Tracy, Berkeley, Livermore, Reno to name a few. I stopped on a Sunday evening it was very relaxing and laid back. I'll definitely be back. read more

I read the reviews and thought I might experience the great service everyone seems to talk about. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. My girlfriend and I came in last weekend and sat at the bar. The only person working there didn't look at us and didn't acknowledge us. We sat a few moments grabbed a couple of drink menus that were near by and thought about ordering a couple flights. So then we sat some more. Others came in and the "bar tender" silently gave them drink menus and walked away without a word. He then walked over and proceeded to poor a couple flights for other guests that were already there when we arrived. He kept his back to all the patrons and continued to ignore everyone. So, after a few more minutes of being in the most quietly uncomfortable bar like place I've ever been we decided to leave. I probably won't be back and it's a shame I love tasting beer. However, I really have no reason to give this place money. Perhaps they only really like serving friends or something I don't know. It was like a movie when a character walks in to a bar and the music skips off; except in this case, everyone was disinterested that you came in and there was no music and there was no reason to be there. I guess it wasn't like movie. Maybe you'll have better luck, but I will tell people I know not to go. read more

This is by far one of my favorite places to come. The owners and the staff are super friendly, and the beer is AMAZING. There are 30 taps here - and I always have a hard time picking out a flight because there are too many delicious craft beer choices. The atmosphere here is great, and if you're a wine drinker, they have a lot of great local Lodi wineries available (Harney Lane, Prie, Lange Twins, and McCay for example). We had my boyfriend's surprise 30th birthday party here (as like an after party), and I was so happy with the amazing service we had, and that I was able to rent the place out (it's also one of his favorite places to go). They treat you like family here, you can't get any better than that. :) You can also bring in food from nearby businesses. The events here are amazing as well, we went to a Noir Night here (all dark beers), we had never been to anything like it. We enjoyed snacks and sweets while enjoying amazing dark beers (from a list of 24 at the time), there were so many to choose from and I was in my happy place. Brix and Hops goes above and beyond most of my expectations for a beer and wine place. We have started to become regulars here. We love it so much. We arrived at Brix and Hops at the end of our "guys night out". We aren't in our 20s. We aren't assuming. We heard they had a great selection of beers. I dislike beer. I came for the wine. Jeff and Carrie (and staff) are amazingly relatable. They are expectedly knowledgable about wine AND beer! And they are openly inviting in conversation about everything under the sun. Ive been wanting to check this place out for a while. Nice little taphouse, no TVs blaring sports, just music piped in at a comfortble volume. Saturday around 2:30 wirh Christmas tunes playing, nice. I've been to many, many breweries, taphouses all over the USA. Partaked in many flights offered. I've never been to one where you pay anywhere from $3.75 - $4.75 for 5 oz. "Taster" glasses. Hmmm, this 5 oz glass looks a lot like 4oz glasses they give you at brewfests back in CO. Everywhere else you throw down about $7-8 for like 4 or 5 choices. Their prices range from $7.75 - $9.50 for a pint/tulip. Nice place, good vibe, but expensive. read more

Been looking for a spot like this in Lodi which has an AWESOME beer selection (24 taps), some of which they rotate as they deplete. Nice entrance with street side patio so you can bring your furry friend and enjoy a pint, or two outside. I went in and was greeted by the friendly staff immediately. I tried out their flight which they call tasters... I had 4 5 oz. (Dragon's Milk Stout, Aunt Sally's Sour, Hobo Pils, and the Hoppyrighted). All were very great and recommended by the friendly owners/bartender. I'm typically an IPA guy, but their selection has something for everyone I'm sure. It's BYOF as they don't currently have a menu, but welcome anything in. I'll be back this weekend for sure. read more

This is a cool, chill spot. My brother made me come in here after a movie to try a peanut butter beer but it wasn't available because they switch as soon as the keg runs out. Im so glad I came in here though. I tried the #27 ¡Viva La Beaver! Belching Beaver and it is really good!! You need to come in and try it. The place is clean and neat. Definitely a spot to have a beer or some wine with friends or family and chat. They close at 11 on Friday's and close at 10 on Saturdays. Do not pass this place up. read more

It's pretty nice to have a true beer place in Lodi along with Taphouse Pizza. There's a ton of selection and rotating taps with a very chill vibe.
