I finally made it to Brito after seeing countless TikTok videos and so many wonderful reviews! After a long day of celebrating and day drinking, one of my girlfriends suggested that we head to Brito to grab some chicken, lol. Random, but we're always down for a field trip. Located on Buford Highway, I swear that I smelled that chicken before I even pulled into the parking lot. When I parked, the smell of grilled chicken filled the air and I could seriously wear that scent as perfume lol. There were huge grills outside grilling up more greatness as guests hustled in and out of the supermarket lot. Brito is a market that sells meat, produce, Mexican snacks of all sorts and of course - delicious, flavorful, food. It's not a very big place and you could probably walk the entire floor twice within 5 minutes, but the flavor is BIG here. The employees here were on their p's and q's, assisting each customer with ease. I grabbed some snacks and a spicy mango frozen treat before we headed to the counter to grab our food. I had no clue how much it would be, if there was variety, none of that - I just did what everyone else did lol. There wasn't much conversation happening, just delicious birds being plucked from whatever magical place they were stored behind the meat counter. Each chicken was wrapped in plastic, set on a plastic tray and paired with two souffle cups of salsas, a green sauce and a fire red sauce. The chicken was still hot and packaged perfectly. As we went to pay for our wins, there were stainless steel pans with piles of chickens just pulled from the grill. It took everything in me to not jump into one of them and nibble my way out, lol. My chicken ended up being $13 and it was enough for two meals for my partner and I. Let me say - that chicken is everythinggggg everyone said it would be. It reminded me of a chicken I was obsessed with in Puerto Rico, so full of great flavor, juicy, tender - just A1 all around. All in all, I will absolutely be making my way to Buford Highway more often and leaving with a chicken or two. read more

Something told me to go to the next one after I had read all of these reviews and seen all these stories online... I was so happy to see a grill going outside and even ha[ppier to walk in to see cooked food options! Ok... So I had the ribs, pollo, and the HUGE chicharrones... Brito Supermarket #2 is a small, unassuming supermarket that serves the best pollo asado (grilled chicken) in Atlanta, as well as costillas (ribs) and chicharrónes. It is on the corner of Curtis Drive and Buford Highway in Brookhaven. There are other locations in Marietta and on Chamblee Tucker Road (Embry Hills area). The smokers led me to pull into the driveway one day years ago out of sheer curiosity. Now that I work and live close, I am probably at Brito on a monthly basis. My friends often ask me to bring pollo asado and the fixings for potluck dinners. I usually pick up onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and homemade tortillas before heading to the register (I love a one-stop shop). Especially for its diminutive size, Brito has a well-stocked meat counter, fresh produce, fresh tortillas, and Latino specialty pantry items and sweets. Upon walking in, head past the cashier and take a right to find the meat counter. The pollo asado is expertly seasoned, juicy, and smoked to perfection. There are a few picnic tables if, like me, you can't resist tearing open the Saran-wrapped container (I usually have to sample it in my car). But the ribs are also really good. I love the smoky flavor and tenderness of the ribs. You know you are experiencing tasty ribs when you do not miss barbeque sauce. Homemade salsa verde and rojo accompany both meats (warning: both salsas are kicking). Don't forget to pick up tasty fresh chicharrónes. The pork rind variety is more regularly available than the ones with the pork belly. read more

I went here after seeing a video on TikTok. It was very packed on the day that I went, assuming that the other people saw the same TikTok video that I saw, lol! They claim to be the best grilled chicken in Atlanta. Coming from a Mexican establishment, I had to see if they were telling truth. But because I haven't tried ALL of the grill chicken in Atlanta, I can't support their claims of being the BEST but they are GOOD! lol! The spatchcock a whole marinated chicken, char it on the grill, then pair it with this red and green sauce. The red sauce was a little spicy and the green sauce was cold but ok! We ordered 2 whole chickens and cost us around $27.00? But 1 chicken could easily feed a small family of 4 or 2 greedy adults lololol! They are located inside of small supermarket / farmers market type setting. Plenty of produce and Mexican condiments / seasonings / etc to choose from. This is a small convenience store that does not sell alcohol. They have a gigantic smoker on the side of the building that smells amazing. The meat section is in the corner of the store. They have whole chicken, pork ribs, and pork rinds available. All tasted amazing and came with salsa. The salsa is green or red. I can't remember which is hotter. The entire process lasted 2 minutes because the food is already prepared. I also like to grab some drinks and chips. read more

I didnt know of this place until a friend told me her secret to her chicken tacos. The whole time she had been coming here to buy the already grilled seasoned and delicious pollo!! This is a small Mexican grocery store with all the ingredients, fresh vegetables, herbs to go home and whip up a fiesta dinner of your own. When you go inside to buy the chicken head over to the meat counter where you tell them how many you want. I purchased 1 grilled chicken about $9. The chicken came with two small salsas both green/red. I shopped through the store and picked out a few tomatoes, cilantro, onion, avocado and some corn tortilla and went home to hook up my Taco Tuesday dinner. read more

This little supermarket is a lifesaver when you have forgotten but don't want to travel far or if you don't feel like cooking that day. I personally live close to it so I've gone in there multiple times for things. They are nice and personable and they remind me of NY with the bodega vibes they have. It's not necessarily the same but it's one of the closest versions I've seen since moving to Atlanta. Some of them may not speak English well but do not let them deter you. If you're looking for a quick lunch stop here. You drive up to the most glorious smell of fresh chicken being smoked outside. Walk inside and toward the back they have some already packed and ready to go. The employee held up two to my fiancé and I to choose which one we liked which was very courteous. He gave us a red salsa (SPICY) and a verde sauce (EVEN SPICIER) we were out the door. The smoked chicken was delicious. When it comes to authentic, local, places like this I typically don't want to let the secret out and cause long lines, increased prices, and degraded product. Tucked away inside this little gem of a neighborhood supermarket is without a doubt the best grilled chicken I've had in my life. Moist, seasoned to perfection, and priced appropriately. I'll admit, even after reading reviews that clearly said "go to the back and ask for pollo asado" I still managed to have trouble figuring out exactly where to order. It really is that simple, go to the meat counter in the back (despite the raw meat case) and ask for the pollo asado. It's a Mexican supermarket - get your cilantro, limes, onions, etc. while you are picking up your chicken. So this is a supermarket - just go to the meat counter and ask for the chicken. There isn't a place inside to eat the chicken in the supermarket. It's a supermarket. However, there are a two park tables out in the back that you can eat at, if you so wish. The pollo asada is famously addictive, although both sauces are too hot for me. Love how they deliberately grill by the side of the road so that you can't help but smell it. Wasn't as impressed by the ribs, kind of tough and dry. Big surprise was the chiccarones, for some reason these have almost disappeared during the pandemic. Although the meat can be a little tough, they're ridiculously lean and the amount of meat makes this stand out for me. Be warned they're only available on the weekends like a bowl of menudo and lime. I have been back here multiple times since my first review, and brought along several friends (and my wife)...so I think it's time to update/upgrade the review. After repeated visits, I still think the chicken taste great.....all the friends I brought here agree with me. To make it taste even better, chop up some cilantro and white onion to put in a soft corn tortilla, top with the complimentary salsa and some freshly squeezed lime juice....mmm mmm mmm!!! My wife said that's probably one of two best grilled chicken we've had (the other one was from a grilled chicken stand in Hawaii while on our honeymoon). I went to Cross Keys High School in the mid to late 80s and its always fun to visit the old stomping grounds. I believe Britos is in a building that was a bank or an office at the corner of Curtis Drive and Buford Highway. Britos is similar to most carnicerias with the exception of having the largest BBQ pit I've seen in front of the store. The pit can easily cook 100 whole chickens. The chicken is grilled to perfection, as it juicy and well seasoned. The chicken is butterflied, which reduces the cook time. I do my share of bbqing and grilling. I know good chicken when I taste it. For 8.99 you get a whole chicken cooked to perfection with a side a side of red and green salsa. If you don't want to cook dinner, stop by and grab a deliciously grilled chicken. read more

I saw this on Yelp and I recently moved to Lenox Road so I mentioned it to my Bf. I come here at least twice a week and get a whole chicken or two each time. The whole grilled chicken is never a disappointment. We actually get the chicken here and the sides from Roasters for a complete meal. Inside, they don't speak much English, but are never rude. They also have raw minced steak which I us for tacos. While they stay open a bit late, an hour before closing they were out of chicken. I don't know when they stop, but keep that in mind if that's what you want. I will continue to get my protein fix here for $10 a pop.
