I was running behind schedule and totally forgot to order and go somewhere beforehand to pick up a cake for a gathering, so I sent the husband to Brioche De Paris since it was local to check pick a cake, assuming there were some in stock for Mother's Day. Luckily he came home with a cake, so Brioche De Paris saved me that night cause I was able to bring something to the gathering. The cake itself was pretty small, especially for around $50 or so, but we enjoyed the opera cake as it was not too sweet. Beautiful and tasty! The space here is fairly large, with plenty of room to sit. They have a lot of options, such as food, beverages, pastries, cookies, slices, cute individual desserts, and much more. I did go here once to check it out, but didn't buy items, but found things to look really good. The workers here checked in and let me know if I had any questions, feel free to ask. Individual desserts and such are really atheistically pleasing, but they are on the pricier end of things. Heads up, this place is related to the ALAMO location. NOT the Walnut Creek one. Why this place was able to get the same name somehow, I have no idea. Came here to try this place thinking it was related to the Walnut Creek one and it was...disappointing. My husband and I saw they had way more cakes which was fine and they had a bunch of croissants. But the cakes are labeled as they appear. So the hazelnut cake is called...hazelnut...but then they have other menu items using the same word. So mind our awkwardness when we wanted the cake and the girl behind the counter asked "which hazelnut item" and you can't explain much more because the name of the item is just "hazelnut". We also got a scone and a couple of hazelnut chocolate croissants. I saw that they had the same exact quiche flavors as the Walnut Creek one and...they were way more deflated and thinner than the Walnut Creek ones. So I'm not sure if the intent is to be an imposter? When we got the takeout box, the sticker listed Lafayette and Alamo (but not Walnut Creek) which is when my husband looked into it only to find out it wasn't related to the Walnut Creek one... Anyways, when we got home, I noticed the hazelnut cake/mousse thing wasn't really made well. The shell is wayyyy too hard to break. I would've preferred it to be thinner. A fork should be able to break through it, not a knife...and the top of hazelnut was cracked as opposed to it needing to be completely sealed. On top of that, it was pretty sickly sweet that I was only able to eat half of it. I forfeited over the second half to my husband who said the same and he has a sweet tooth to begin with. To his words, his hazelnut chocolate croissant didn't taste much of either. Neither side was strong enough. So...next time, hard pass. I'll go back to the other Walnut Creek one. Maybe I'll try the Alamo one to see if it's better than Lafayette, but this place was disappointing. read more

I've been waiting and watching for signs of when this place would open and FINALLY! On a whim, I drove by on New Year's Day and saw that they were open! It was good to see that there were still a variety of goodies in the cases. As hubby is always in the hunt for the best almond and chocolate croissant, the almond and chocolate hazelnut paste came home with me. Love how bright and airy the shop is. Parking can be a challenge during the week so just park across the street. All spaces are pay lots with the exception of the building behind the shop. The croissants are very crispy and flaky , especially the corners. Now, it didn't help that it's rainy which means humidity. Taste wise, the chocolate hazelnut paste could have been stronger perhaps a smear of Nutella would be good. Almond croissant is good. For the hubby, rating of 3.5 because he likes more fillings. It's pricey so take your time sitting in and savoring the delights. Yelpers have notes other food items which I may come back to try. The quiches looked especially good. I specifically wanted to try this bakery out for the fruit shaped dessert. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and found parking close by, there were some teenagers inside, and a person cleaning the coffee machine. After waiting for a few minutes a young woman came out and took my order. I ordered one lemon shaped dessert and she seemed a bit annoyed at that. Outside I opened my prized box to see my tiny purchase. With a stab of a fork my toddler cracked it open and started eating the lemon custard. It's basically a tiny bit of lemon custard, a ton of cream and yellow colored white chocolate. It was not very flavorful, very small and overpriced. read more

We chose the hazelnut and the tiramisu as they were viral items, the hazelnut was so sweet it wasn't enjoyable I purchased a princess cake slice as a backup, IT WAS STALE. In addition to their beautiful and flaky French Pastries, they have fancy cakes and desserts, items like Croque Monsieur and Madame, French Toast and Crepes. The service is great with indoor and outdoor seating options. Full array of coffee options. Lafayette has many breakfast and coffee options but I find myself drawn back to Brioche de Paris. I tried brioche de Paris in Lafayette for the first time today. Wow seven dollars for an almond croissant and five dollars for a regular. I don't even pay that for the best croissant in Paris. My croissant was cut in half and the filling was added. How unusual and it tasted stale. Probably because it was cut in half. I was told it was fresh bake today in their Alamo bakery, but I really doubt it was that fresh based on how dry it was. Won't be buying here again. read more

No bread today at 10 am. Appreciate the cool interior, but I had to bus my table since the two employees behind the counter made no effort to do so. There were only 2 or 3 other tables in use, so it shouldn't have been hard to clear tables when someone left. Employees were advised to clean the glass in the cases when a delivery from another location was made, but using only a paper towel, so not much improvement. Staff moved the pastries out of the case to clean, and then returned to case, but no hand washing when someone needed help at the register, or when they came back to move pastries again. A friendly family-owned coffee shop with even more pastry options in the little gourmet ghetto next to Sideboard. My coffee was excellent - maybe the best I've found in Lafayette so far - and the pastries are also fantastic. Thy have beche de Noel and other beautifully decorated special pastry items as well as your typical croissants and cookies. Ambiance is pretty with a lot of light and good seating options. Parking is never great here but the location, ambiance and food makes up for that. I know the pastries are the big draw here but I'd come back just for the coffee! The baked goods ( almond croissant )I purchased didn't seem fresh at all I was expecting much better quality and more of a variety of baked goods, especially from a bakery on a weekend. On top of that, the customer service could definitely use some improvement. The interaction felt unwelcoming, and there wasn't much effort to provide a positive customer experience. Bought a piece of Opera cake that looked great. Staff member threw it into a box that was too big for it. I asked for a bag, ideally a paper one that keeps its shape so that the box does not move around in the bag when placed in my car trunk. She gave me a standard plastic thank you bag. I come here for afternoon tea and their delicious triple chocolate chip cookies often, and am never disappointed. What a sweet cafe. Calm atmosphere, comfortable seating, friendly service, and blissfully not too crowded (yet!). It's been a breath of fresh air in my otherwise very busy life. I recently tried the new Brioche de Paris location in Lafayette and was absolutely delighted! This charming French bakery is a wonderful addition to the area. We sampled three items from the menu, and each one was excellent. The almond croissant was perfectly moist, flaky, and incredibly delicious. I asked them how it's so good and they explained that they use imported French butter. The Avocado Toast was fresh and beautifully prepared, topped with bacon. Lastly, I tried the Lorraine Quiche, which they kindly heated for me. It was light, flavorful, and wonderfully satisfying without feeling heavy. Although there is a bakery by the same name in Walnut Creek, my understanding is that this location is independently owned and not affiliated with that store. The fresh pastries served here are delivered daily from their other store located in Alamo. Everything tasted fresh, and the attention to detail really stood out. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu -- highly recommend stopping by if you're in Lafayette! read more

Not clear what this is. It claims to be a patisserie, but then staff says it's a bakery. But then the menu and bistro tablets suggest it is a cafe. The (current), (soft) opening hours are clearly challenging for a Lafayette location (and actually not even listed) given the commute town nature. Also, I mean cakes and patisserie items, as advertised on the website, is an afternoon dish, but they're closed then, yet nextdoor places are open and good. Joker's in the middle I guess.
