It's incredibly disappointing that a company would admit fault, promise to make things right, and then fail to follow through. Accidents happen, and I understand that. What matters is how a company responds. Unfortunately, Guardian's customer service after the damage occurred has been far more frustrating than the original mistake. I was not familiar with the company, but spent some time on the phone with one of the technicians, Rob, who gave me all the details about the services, plans & pricing on his off time! After speaking with Rob, I called the Encon office on a Wednesday and was able to schedule a visit for two days away on Friday. Rob came right on schedule and went through the entire house, checking for signs of mice, sealing up small openings that could be causing the problems and explained everything as he was doing it. Rob placed multiple bait stations in areas he suggested as an expert including some small spaces, behind appliances, the laundry room, basement, crawl space & garage. Even tho it was his first visit he did a quick spraying for bugs in the basement and walked the permittee of the house using steel wool and spray foam to seal up any open spots he saw that could be contributing to the problem. The plan I chose was the one year which was so reasonably priced I'm not sure how Encon makes any money. It includes today's visit, plus 2 more scheduled visits, PLUS as many other visits we need to deal with the mice and any other pests we encounter over the next here including pretty much ever bug imaginable (except bedbugs, mosquitos, ticks & termites which they do treat for additional fees). And at that point, no one thought this was a simple DIY project -- what, were we going to smack it down with a baseball bat and run for our lives?!? But we didn't want to use any toxic chemicals -- we have a small dog and there's a daycare right next door with little kids always running around in the yard just downwind. Thankfully there were a number of pest control companies in the area, and when we reached out to several, Green Planet Pest Control responded promptly, answered all our questions, and were able to schedule something within a day or two. The guy who came out to our house wore appropriate protection gear, and got the job done without any toxic chemicals that would've been bad for our dog or kids nearby. He also advised me on what product to get (a fairly pleasant-smelling natural spray with peppermint oil) to keep spraying in the area if I saw any return buildup, that would dissuade the wasps from sticking around. They were very happy with the price and the one-year guarantee. Based on their experience, Rob is a pest control expert "at the top of his game." They said "inside and out, he had it covered." I had a good experience with Rob too--I texted him to see if he would make the long trip from his home base to where my parents live, and he texted me back right away to say he works all over Rhode Island. To summarize, we are very happy with Rob. One caveat is that Rob treated my parents' house for mice. He put bait all around where they are inside, and closed up all the points of entry from the outside. He told my folks it would take about three weeks to stop hearing the mice.
