Due to an unrelated construction accident the power cable was cur from the service panel. It took Brinks 6 weeks to get a service technician (contract vendor) to come an replace the power cord. I was without home security service for 6 weeks but was required to pay the monthly fee. Brinks stated that they no longer reimburse for service disruption. I was also billed $227 for a trip fee and labor. I have the Brinks Home Plus Warranty that supposedly provide3s a $75 discount on fees charged if a technician is dispatched. Brinks stated that the $75 benefit was replaced with a flat $100 trip charge instead of being billed hourly. No service disruption rebate and fees the warranty could have covered does no reflect well on the Brinks Customer Service model. read more

In October 2024 She informed them that the system was not being used and requested cancellation. They stated that I had to cancel it myself, which I did. Brinks home security should be called Brinks steals your security. My elderly mother was talked into a Brinks contract after her existing system was bought by Brinks. They use sketchy, scary incompetent contractors to service their equipment. In a year and a half the only service my mother got was to be scared by the creepy person they sent who did not fix her equipment. They insisted we pay out the rest of the contract -30% even though they realized through their own diagnostics, that the equipment only worked for about a month and a half of the last two years. I truly wish I was able to give them a -5 review. I called the company on three separate occasions and could never get a price from them. The sales people are worse than used car salesmen and refuse to give you a price without a 30-45 minute pitch and trying to sell you more than you need. They rescheduled and did not keep the time they were supposed to show up and i had to reschedule again. Then they wanted to charge me $75 trip fee. Bad customer service. Brinks is a crooked and devious business!! If you have an issue (like the alarm going off for no reason) you will be on hold for a long time trying to get help (30 minutes plus). I pay a year in advance for monthly monitoring (pay for 11 months, get the 12th month free.) Last May I get a bill and the price went up significantly from $243 a year to $252! Subsequently I found another monitoring company. I called brinks on May 28, 2022 to cancel service. My yearly service was to end June 27, 2022. The call was made in advance to my paid up service; the new service started June 8 and before the paid Brinks service ended. Recently I checked my credit report (Dec. 2022) and I see that a collection company: Hillcrest and Davidson put a $47 amount on my credit report, that I owed. I had no idea what this was for, so I call them and they told me it was Brinks. It makes no sense. I have a statement dated June 16, 2022 that I owe $47.49 (with a $5 late fee). If I could give ZERO stars, I would. When Monitronics managed my security system they rocked it. Brinks bought them out and everything went to crap. See the attached photo? That is how long you are on hold every time you call. Nearly 3 hours!!! I tried to cancel last year because of the wait time on the phone and the rep said that the long hold times are due to Covid. BS. Hire people. I have purposely been setting off my alarm system for months now and NO ONE answers the alarm. About a year and a half ago, my previous home security company sent mail, informing me that they would no longer be servicing my contract and had made arrangements for Brinks to take over my contract. I called brinks home security and they confirmed this was true. So I decided to accept the offer and Brinks home security came in and installed a panel to monitor an existing system. Other than the panel, the rest of the system belonged to me, and was already paid off, since I had completed contract requirements with a previous company. After about a month, I was having so much trouble with the system so I called brinks home security, and ask them to cancel the service, but they told me I was locked into a three-year contract with them. Since then, my system has never worked, and I have not used it a single day because of problems with batteries in an outdated system. And I still believe that I was swindled into a contract by brinks home security. So I am now stuck making monthly payments for a system that has never worked properly. All I want to do is end the contract at no cost myself. It is just not an issue of sensors not working, but also my panel is failing. It is also about poor customer service. My system has never worked and originally I would spend hours on the phone with Brinks customer service trying to get things fixed. Customer service Took too long to answer and would not call back after promising to do so. So I gave up and decided to wait it out and just write it off as a bad experience. But the touchpad to my front door will not work now since the Brinks panel is not functioning correctly. Now I cannot unlock the Front door using the touchpad. It is about the huge disconnect between what brinks customer service and what technicians say. For example, originally I asked about getting sensors replaced and the Brinks technician recommended against it saying that it would cause too much drywall damage and that brinks would not take responsibility for the damage. Now brinks customer services is offering to send a Brinks technician to install new sensors to replace the old ones. From day one my system started failing after brinks installed their panel and took over the contract. There is a huge disconnect between what Brinks technicians and sales people say to get you to sign a contract and the actual consequences of signing that contract. The bottom line is brinks home services is incapable of providing "good" customer service. Found a great solution and after about a year, they sold their business to Brinks :( As you can see from many of the reviews, Protect America sold the business to Brinks and is now losing all the customers because of the incredibly bad customer service and cost of service. Complete rip off!! Brinks raised the cost of my monitoring from one month to the next with no notice at all by 20%. I had my account setup on autopay. I tried to arm my house on a Saturday and was told my account was blocked due to "non-payment." Called them to figure out what was going on and told no one could assist until Monday. Called on Monday to find out my monthly fees had gone up by 20% and I was paying the incorrect amount. EIGHT months AFTER the rate increase is when I found out I was underpaying and being charged late fees. Not a single bit of contact from them to alert me to an issue. Finally got the service up and running again and decided to switch to another provider. Since I was on month to month, paid through the end of the month. Thought I was finally finished with Brinks. Nope, they wanted even more money because they require a 30 day notice. I pray I never have to have any contact with this company ever again in my life!! Needed help to setup my security system with a new network. The "technical" person was working from home with 1 or more small children screaming in the background. Very difficult to hear the person and she didn't seem to understand me. Repeatedly asked me to repeat. Instructions should have been easy, but were complicated by interruptions. Eventually, she dropped the call (before) we were done setting up the camera. Seemed very stressed out and argumentative. Not impressed with the technical service. Brinks bought out Protect America and my problems began. First when I signed up with Protect American price of $35.99 and was locked in for life. Well that ended the day they sold to Brinks. First tech never showed, then we were told they had to reschedule due to road conditions even though the roads were open without chain control.
