Due to an unrelated construction accident the power cable was cur from the service panel. It took Brinks 6 weeks to get a service technician (contract vendor) to come an replace the power cord. I was without home security service for 6 weeks but was required to pay the monthly fee. Brinks stated that they no longer reimburse for service disruption. I was also billed $227 for a trip fee and labor. I have the Brinks Home Plus Warranty that supposedly provide3s a $75 discount on fees charged if a technician is dispatched. Brinks stated that the $75 benefit was replaced with a flat $100 trip charge instead of being billed hourly. No service disruption rebate and fees the warranty could have covered does no reflect well on the Brinks Customer Service model. read more

The worst company in America hands down. We never wanted Brinks but when Cox Security sold their business to them we had no choice. Since then there is a steep charge for everything. Customer service won't do anything for you. Costs shot way up. And it's becoming a nightmare to deal with this company. Even discontinuing the service requires reaching out to a third-party to uninstall their stuff to send it back to them... there's no manager to express your concerns to either... Dog S$&t company. Never ever use Brinks. read more

I had Brinks Home service for 25 years. My ex-wife tried to cancel the service, which had not worked for 12 years. In October 2024 She informed them that the system was not being used and requested cancellation. They stated that I had to cancel it myself, which I did. However, they still billed me $322.91 for a service that was never provided. Do not hire these people for your security--they care more about your money than your safety. read more

I give this company a 1-star rating because of the "lack of knowledge & communication" of the people this company hires for their "door to door" salespeople! Had I been able to read the reviews about this company prior to being talked into getting this service, I would have told the young girl SOLICITING this company to take a hike! She looked like she had only been out of high school by a few years! She was nice to talk to, but not very well informed or trained! I only found out a few weeks ago, when I called & tried to cancel this service, that I was LOCKED into a 5-year contract! Oh hell no! Now I'm screwed & stuck with this crappy company till 2028! . I told the lady I was talking to that if I had heard the word "CONTRACT" come out of that young girl's mouth, I would have told her to take her scam elsewhere! I sure as hell would not have signed up for no 5-year contract if she had told me there was a CONTRACT involved! And now I have 4 more years till I can tell this company to take a hike! Then I'll dismantle all their security equipment & trash it! Sure, they'll let you cancel service all right, but you still have to pay the monthly service fee! People - don't fall for anyone telling you that Brinks Security is a good company because they are not! Run the other way as fast as you can. read more

I have done the DIY home security thing with numerous providers over the years and Brinks is the absolute worst. Hardware is not reliable and customer service hold times are unbearably long (in excess of one hour in a couple of cases). It was an act of congress to terminate the service. Find another provider. Would give negative stars if I could - yes, it is that bad. read more

Do NOT USE BRINKS. They are a rip off. I have been trying to cancel my account for the last 3 days. I am not under contract. They will not let you cancel online or chat or on the phone.. I hate this company! They are the most unreliable of any company we've ever done business with. Months after they took over our ATT acct., our alarm get sounding off for no reason at all. The gals that we spoke to wanted to charge us $85 for there technician to come out!!!! I told them I would not pay for them to come out and service their own defective equipment. I immediately asked to cancel service. I was transferred to some gal in retention dept who sates she will send some one out for no charge. She had to do some research on my contract and said she would call me and let me know why I was being charged $2 more a month than I was promised. Well that call never came. Our alarm has been completed unplugged and removed from the wall as it would continue to beep. They continue to charge our acct and we have ZERO SERVICE! You would think that because they're our security company they would at least call to see why the system has been disconnected. THIS COMPANY IS THE BIGGEST JOKE IN ALL MY YEARS OF LIVING. STAY AWAY FROM BRINKS ! I will follow up with a report to the BBB! read more

Where do I begin with this poor and unprofessional organization. I have been with them for years and their system never works despite the continual upgrades and extensions to my contract. Finally sold my house. Tried to cancel my service and these jerks have kept ma on hold for already over two hours. I guess if I was signing up for new service, they would answer in a minute. With this in mind, would you ever trust these clowns with your family's safety? The only reason why I am writing this review is to hopefully warn others about this deceptive and poor company. My advice is to go local, support a local business, and not provide a dime to these theives. read more

Brinks home security should be called Brinks steals your security. My elderly mother was talked into a Brinks contract after her existing system was bought by Brinks. They use sketchy, scary incompetent contractors to service their equipment. In a year and a half the only service my mother got was to be scared by the creepy person they sent who did not fix her equipment. They insisted we pay out the rest of the contract -30% even though they realized through their own diagnostics, that the equipment only worked for about a month and a half of the last two years. The bottom line the real criminals are to be found at Brinks! read more

I truly wish I was able to give them a -5 review. I called the company on three separate occasions and could never get a price from them. The sales people are worse than used car salesmen and refuse to give you a price without a 30-45 minute pitch and trying to sell you more than you need. I have no desire to do business with a company that doesn't value your time and spends so much time and effort in trying to bilk you out of something. It's such a shame too because I received a positive comment about their system and was told I'd be happy with the system so long as I had at least an hour to haggle with their sales people. I think I will just stick with ADT because I have no desire to do business with a shady company. read more

I wish I had not gone with this company. They did not have the correct information at the initial installation. Then they did not complete the job and left. They rescheduled and did not keep the time they were supposed to show up and i had to reschedule again. Then they wanted to charge me $75 trip fee. I tried to cancel and get a refund and they would not accomodate and only waived the $75 trip fee. And my keypad sometime won't deactivate when I put in my code. I will be cancelling as soon as my contract is up or if I can find someone who will install another system and not charge me again. The service provided thus far is sub par. I would give it a 0 rating if I could. read more

Do not use this company! If you have them do anything for you they extend your contract! If someone doesn't answer the door after the first knock, don't keep knocking! So unprofessional and rude. We all have cameras and security already. We don't need a 1 star company coming around to solicit to us. This is 2024. No one likes door to door solicitors! Stay away If we were interested in your business, we would reach out to you. Bad customer service. Brinks is a crooked and devious business!! If you have an issue (like the alarm going off for no reason) you will be on hold for a long time trying to get help (30 minutes plus). I pay a year in advance for monthly monitoring (pay for 11 months, get the 12th month free.) Last May I get a bill and the price went up significantly from $243 a year to $252! Subsequently I found another monitoring company. I called brinks on May 28, 2022 to cancel service. My yearly service was to end June 27, 2022. The call was made in advance to my paid up service; the new service started June 8 and before the paid Brinks service ended. Recently I checked my credit report (Dec. 2022) and I see that a collection company: Hillcrest and Davidson put a $47 amount on my credit report, that I owed. I had no idea what this was for, so I call them and they told me it was Brinks. It makes no sense. I have a statement dated June 16, 2022 that I owe $47.49 (with a $5 late fee). Stay away from this company. Even the rep I talked to said she hears my same complaint all the time. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. When Monitronics managed my security system they rocked it. Brinks bought them out and everything went to crap. See the attached photo? That is how long you are on hold every time you call. Nearly 3 hours!!! I tried to cancel last year because of the wait time on the phone and the rep said that the long hold times are due to Covid. BS. Hire people. I have purposely been setting off my alarm system for months now and NO ONE answers the alarm. I called regarding this very problem and someone finally answered nearly 3 hours into holding. Because I had to hold so long, I cancelled my service. Had to pay $300 to get out of my contract because I was breaking it. But weren't they breaking it by NOT answering my alarms?? BS. The woman did everything in her power to get me to stay, but I told her I'd rather deal with a break-in than deal with Brinks crap service anymore. DO NOT GET BRINKS. They charge and do not monitor. Now they are sending emails offering me monthly fee of $14.00 to stay. I wouldn't stay if it were free. The phone issues alone are enough to drive someone mad. read more

Had brinks for years with no problem short of price increase . I was told I needed to upgrade a part of my panel so I put in a work order December 2021. It's March 2022, still no part, or anything they told me it's "back ordered" and tried to get me to do a costly upgrade with a contract. I advised them no I do not have a contract nor would I want one with a company that cannot keep its product working. This company has very bad customer service. Contract expired on 4/17/2022, called and waited for 50 minutes to cancel in March 2022. They wanted me to send cancellation in writing. I sent letter on 3/8. However, they kept charging my account and said they sent a final bill to my email. I never received it. Then, sent another email 6/16 to harass me that I still owe money and will ask collecting agent to bill me. Wow, what a company!! Then, they told me my contract should expire in May... Well, i just paid them to get rid of this BS. BAD and dishonest. I will stay away from this company even it is free...... read more

This company is unbelievable!! Trying to get a tech guy out has been a nightmare to say the least. No service since November and have called, made appointment for tech guy to fix system but as ALWAYS they are a no show!! Call again, reschedule to ANOTHER no show. I then call to cancel in January since tech services doesn't exist but their monthly billing continues to roll in every month! They talk me into upgrading my system, reluctantly I accept but to no avail ANOTHER no show. I'm getting furious at this point. I have a non-working security system. They apologized and stated they will be replacing my entire system for mine is out dated...YES I have been a customer for years!! I said if you don't show I'm done. Feb. 3rd is my date at 8-12noon!! Yep like clockwork they text to reschedule on Feb 1st. Now I have Feb 25th 12-5pm. Here we go, I get another text now they will be here at 8pm!! Absolutely not!! I advised you have all day on the 25th up to 3pm. If you can't be here cancel my service. And as you can guess NO SHOW!! Now I have called every dept. Just to be hung up on. 6 times in one day. I finally get someone who tells me this is the collection department for I am 3 months past due. They offer me a discount (-$15) if I pay today. Are you kidding me. My system has not been working since November I not paying. Cancel my service. Yep disconnect again. I have called several more time and waiting on hold for HOURS up to 2-1/2 one day and still no answer just hold music. This is crazy!! YES I am on hold again now with the cancellation department almost an hour now. This company is undeserving of customers. Brinks Home Security - On hold to be hung up on. Insane service!! They suck - Security Systems Near Me

Brinks Home is hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with. I called, cancelled, contract expired and still two months later was being charged because I didn't fill out a cancellation survey. Meanwhile, they said it was never sent to me because of a typo in the email address the customer service rep input into docusign. This is borderline fraud. Do NOT get Brinks security under any circumstances. Equipment is sub par, prices are higher than other companies, and customer service is horrendous. read more

The worst service I ever have! We have to disconnect the service since we have fake alarms during two hours, call Brinks and you can't talk with anybody, or complaint! In the beginning they call you to see if you're ok and or if you need the police, etc We can't cancel the contract, so we have to pay for the next 2 years, without using the system or have alarms working! About a year and a half ago, my previous home security company sent mail, informing me that they would no longer be servicing my contract and had made arrangements for Brinks to take over my contract. I called brinks home security and they confirmed this was true. So I decided to accept the offer and Brinks home security came in and installed a panel to monitor an existing system. Other than the panel, the rest of the system belonged to me, and was already paid off, since I had completed contract requirements with a previous company. After about a month, I was having so much trouble with the system so I called brinks home security, and ask them to cancel the service, but they told me I was locked into a three-year contract with them. Since then, my system has never worked, and I have not used it a single day because of problems with batteries in an outdated system. And I still believe that I was swindled into a contract by brinks home security. So I am now stuck making monthly payments for a system that has never worked properly. All I want to do is end the contract at no cost myself. It is just not an issue of sensors not working, but also my panel is failing. It is also about poor customer service. My system has never worked and originally I would spend hours on the phone with Brinks customer service trying to get things fixed. Customer service Took too long to answer and would not call back after promising to do so. So I gave up and decided to wait it out and just write it off as a bad experience. But the touchpad to my front door will not work now since the Brinks panel is not functioning correctly. Now I cannot unlock the Front door using the touchpad. It is about the huge disconnect between what brinks customer service and what technicians say. For example, originally I asked about getting sensors replaced and the Brinks technician recommended against it saying that it would cause too much drywall damage and that brinks would not take responsibility for the damage. Now brinks customer services is offering to send a Brinks technician to install new sensors to replace the old ones. From day one my system started failing after brinks installed their panel and took over the contract. There is a huge disconnect between what Brinks technicians and sales people say to get you to sign a contract and the actual consequences of signing that contract. The bottom line is brinks home services is incapable of providing "good" customer service. So finally sending a technician or anyone from Brinks home services to my home is unacceptable because I am afraid of the further damage they may cause and I cannot depend on anything they say. read more

We have been a customer for seven years, with an auto payment of $49.95 per month. Due to a change in our lifestyle, we decided to cancel our subscription. When canceling the service, we were notified that we were still required to pay out the full extent of the contract, valued at ~$2,200, pretty much for four full years of payments; because we added a single camera and a door sensor the previous year. By the way, the camera has a retail value of approximately $150. While I understand that I agreed verbally to the terms, clearly not paying any attention, it is a very bad business practice to ask for four more years of service for a simple equipment upgrade. Do not sign up with them! Do not renew or add more equipment. Do not sign up for any service that is related to Monitronics International Inc. Any new alarm system that integrates with Ecobee, Alexa, Nest, Canary, or any other service offering will be better, faster, and cheaper. DO NOT sign up with them. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I originally searched for security companies trying to avoid ADT & Brinks. Found a great solution and after about a year, they sold their business to Brinks :( As you can see from many of the reviews, Protect America sold the business to Brinks and is now losing all the customers because of the incredibly bad customer service and cost of service. Complete rip off!! Brinks raised the cost of my monitoring from one month to the next with no notice at all by 20%. I had my account setup on autopay. I tried to arm my house on a Saturday and was told my account was blocked due to "non-payment." Called them to figure out what was going on and told no one could assist until Monday. Called on Monday to find out my monthly fees had gone up by 20% and I was paying the incorrect amount. EIGHT months AFTER the rate increase is when I found out I was underpaying and being charged late fees. Not a single bit of contact from them to alert me to an issue. Finally got the service up and running again and decided to switch to another provider. Since I was on month to month, paid through the end of the month. Thought I was finally finished with Brinks. Nope, they wanted even more money because they require a 30 day notice. I pray I never have to have any contact with this company ever again in my life!! All I can say, run away as fast as you can from Brinks. read more

Needed help to setup my security system with a new network. The "technical" person was working from home with 1 or more small children screaming in the background. Very difficult to hear the person and she didn't seem to understand me. Repeatedly asked me to repeat. Instructions should have been easy, but were complicated by interruptions. Eventually, she dropped the call (before) we were done setting up the camera. Seemed very stressed out and argumentative. Not impressed with the technical service. Eventually, I will transfer to another security system. Brinks was a scam originally, saying they were associated with ADT. That was an outright lie. If there was a zero rating that's what they would get. Horrible customer service! Absolutely unprofessional and downright mean. It's extremely difficult to cancel service and they make you jump through hoops to do anything. We mentioned our alarm was going off while on vacation and we didn't receive any notification and no help was sent in case it was something serious. Their response was to get a more expensive package/contract. Called multiple times asking to cancel and they make it very difficult. Had another incident where our security system didn't work and instead of being meant with understanding with our frustration they go into how it's our fault their system isn't working. If I could give no stars that's what I'd put for Brinks. I'm going on my 5th month of canceled installations, LONG waits on calls (currently going on 55 mins holding for what I was told would be 10 mins) just to let them know I want to cancel my account! They won't let you cancel online. Apparently there aren't enough service technicians in the San Diego County area, thus why I'm going into my 5th month of canceled install dates. I guarantee that when I get rescheduled from my May 31 cancellation to July, I'll get a phone call in June canceling the July date. I don't even have equipment set up yet. The absolute worst new customer service company I've ever worked with. I'm a current ATT Digital customer trying to move over to what I thought was a great option. Brinks bought out Protect America and my problems began. First when I signed up with Protect American price of $35.99 and was locked in for life. Well that ended the day they sold to Brinks. Bill immediately went up and service went Down Down Down (now paying over $50.00 a month). My alarm went out in November while I was away. Brinks could not fix until I returned home in December. First tech never showed, then we were told they had to reschedule due to road conditions even though the roads were open without chain control. Finally February the tech finally arrives, worked on the system for several hours. Well less than 2 weeks later back to the same problem. I wish yelp would allow NO stars !! I had this alarm system installed less than 24 hours and I am 110% dissatisfied. Tech Support was even worse. Don't waste your time and hard earned money. Our problem was the alarm wouldn't even be on and if we opened any exiting door it would siren and not stop until we Reboot the whole system, so basically we are trapped in our own house. So it gets even worst .... No one calls us when the alarm sirens, we have to call and we are placed on hold for at least 1 hour or more every time. If this was a real break in we would be dead. I've had horrible sleep all night because we have multiple people in the house and everyone work and leaves throughout the night, guess who has to get up every time to call and wait for an hour to talk to a tech every time ???? Me !!! So going forward to the next morning (today) I call to talk to account manager and I'm on hold again for 1 hour 4 minutes before I can speak to one. I am trying to cancel my service because I've already found a new Alarm company that's willing to come in today to replace brinks. Aggressively the lady on the phone is trying to keep me as a customer and down talk my new company, I'm sorry lady there is nothing worst than brinks and these comments on this page make it very clear ! Now my next issue is they are not trying to return my money for the malfunctioning products they installed into my home ( keep in mind I've only had their service for less than 24 hours) it was install 12/08 by @5pm problems started at 11pm been on and off the phone with their tech support all night until I got fed up and had to wait till the morning of 12/09 to talk to account manager to cancel my contract. I am 1 hour and 30 minutes in on this call and they still haven't been able to cancel my services and return my money for their broken equipment, but they are still trying to offer me deals to keep their services. I would rather pay triple the amount than keep this sort of service. When they install it they make it look all fancy and advance, in reality it's just all cosmetic. I do not feel safe with their alarm system, it had went off multiple times and no one called me I had to call them but wait about an hour before I got through to someone. PLEASE TAKE THIS AS A WARNING, you will be wasting your time and money. They don't even have their owned trained techs, they out source to other companies to install and they have nothing to do with brinks . So going forward with this call they are going to charge me $110 to come and take their broken products back which I haven't even had for 24 hours. They are firm with their decision to take any little bit of money they can before they let me go at this point fine I'll just take them to court and it's not even for the $110 it's for this unbelievably unfair customer service. They are thieves, they install horrible product try to cheat you out of any little bit of money they can, can you imagine how much money they make $110 x 1,000(just a small guess) upset customers a day that cancel but still get charged $110,000 a day for cancelations.
