We recently had a split air conditioning unit installed at our home. The Sevice Technician, Don Wadsworth and his helper (Unfortunately we didn't get his name) were fantastic. They arrived early and took time explaining what they would be doing. The work they did was above expectations. They made sure the sytem was working and cleaned up when the work was completed. Prior to leaving they explained the system and how it worked answering any questions we had. I highly recommend Hop Energy and the team members who installed our unit. read more

My Mother's heater stopped working because she ran out of oil. Apparently, they forgot to refill her oil tanker, even though she was on the automatic refill service plan. read more

Brinker's (HOP Energy) installed our new oil tank and Heater 4 years ago. Things went well until it had to be inspected after install. It failed and had to have the chimney pipe angled higher. The system was supposed to be new, but boy did they ding it up and leave it dirty, but I let it go. I just had a home inspection done to put my house on the market and was shocked to find that they found problems with my 4 year old, lightly used, regularly serviced unit. (We only have 2 people in the house compared to six when it was installed.) I called Brinkers, assuming that most parts were under warranty. Brinkers wanted $95 to drive out to look at it and another $35 for a diagnostic fee. I said that it would be warranty work and right away the attitude from the person on phone changed. Almost defensive, as if they weren't planning on letting it fall under the warranty. I explained that if it wasn't under warranty, and they were going to charge me, then I would just use my regular Heating Company (Waters Heating and Cooling. They're awesome!) I made that clear, even though I knew it would probably be under warranty. They sent out a tech. I showed him the unit and stayed while he looked it over. He took out a small gadget and unscrewed something near the top piece that apparently wasn's working and put his gadget in it's place. He said that device was fine and saw no problem there. He then tweaked some things and was able to get a normal pressure reading (the inspection said the pressure reading was high.) He explained that it was within normal range and checked a few other things. The entire time spent in the basement was about 18-20 minutes. He explained that it could be the expansion tank, but that it seemed fine now. I asked if that was under warranty, as it was only 4 years old and on average they should last 5-10 years, especially with low usage. He said he'd check and headed to his truck to call. All the while, this tech was telling me his liefstory. He seemed a bit needy, so I listened and chatted. He stood in my foyer talking about random things for at least 10 minutes before he went back to truck. When he came back in, the first think he did was comment on my bumper stickers on my car. Boy did he have an opinion! He proceeded to tell me how racism really wasn't an issue in America anymore, and how he didn't have a problem with gays really, he actually went into a couple'shouse in New Hope, and got "a kick out of" the man, even though he was gay, etc.... He then told me that the new expansion tank would be close to $500. I was shocked, because it should be under warranty. I said that I would use my regular guy. Earlier he had tried to explain that they can't trust their install teams, and what products they put in because they subcontract the jobs out!!! (when i asked why it might not be installed right, after he noticed some things that didn't seem in the right place). That was not very professional at all. I then repeated that I would be using someone else to do the work. Here's where it got uncomfortable. He just would not leave. He spent another 50+ minutes in my family room just telling me stories, and talking about his life. Everything from ex-wife, son in college, new girlfriend, his ideas for inventions, his time at the recent repair convention, etc.... It was awkward, but I was polite. I really felt he needed to vent, but I was not happy it was at my time. And later I would come to find out, AT MY EXPENSE! He finally left, just before my neighbor (who my son alerted to the fact that a tech wasn't leaving our house) was about to come over and knock on the door. Anyhoo. I thought it was over. I called Waters to see what he thought. A few days later, I got a bill for diagnostic fees!!!!!!! I had already paid the call and diagnostic fees! They were billing me an extra $410!!!!!! For nothing!!!!!! They were mad that I didn't use them to fix what should be under warranty, which is my right! And the bill was designed in a way to make me think I owed $410, even though it said in small print that I already paid $135 and the real amount due was $286. If I didn't read it thoroughly and know that I didn't actually owe them anything, they made it look like the total due was $410! That's gotta be a trick they do in hopes they'll catch people unawares. I called, explained that I wouldn't be paying them for anything, as they did nothing and the tech just wasted time telling me his life stories. Oh, did I forget to add that his apartment complex is trying to evict him because he is parking his work truck there and it's against the rules. But he's lived there 7 years and it's not right, and he's going to start a lawsuit? Please, please, think twice before using this company for anything!!! Especially since their own techs say that they don't trust their subcontractors! My ordeal with Brinker's is over. I suggest you don't begin one. read more

Iwas quoted $10,000 to do a oil gas conversion because my furnace had to be replaced."Yeah Right!!" I was without heat and hot water because i have a summer winter hookup the service tech pat told me that it was not repairable that i needed a new furnace that wasn't true because as soon as i was able to have my HVAC family member come and take a look at it asked me why they thought i needed a new furnace. There was nothing wrong with my furnace he actually put it back together because Pat my service tech did not do that but instead tried to sell me on buying a new one. in comes Chris the sales guy who wanted to sell me a conversion for $10,000 are you freaking kidding me? i am livid it's friday night and i'm not able to call the customer service department to complain about feeling like i was being swindled into buying a system i really didn't need. Admittingly i have an old furnace but it wasn't dead! i will be reporting this company to the better business bureau and the attorney general no one should feel that because at the time they had no heat or hot water and it's in the winter time especially a single woman with grandchildren. that they have to believe what they're saying just so they can have hot water for the weekend. And i really couldn't afford to do it anyway I'd rather put my money to better use in other areas of my home that really need to be upgraded. this company literally was about to swindle me out of $10,000 when i really didn't need to do that so consumers beware always get a second opinion Update: 01/20/20 my response to the owner (see the owner's response below before reading my response to him) okay so you want to respond to me in regards to the fire department putting it out of service? boy I see you really know your information! correct it was put out of service because the fire department has no idea what was going on but you guys did know and instead of choosing to do the right thing by me and servicing the freaking oil burner you just wanted to replace it in the middle of winter and 20 degrees outside! I have a service contract with you and the point of the call was for you to come and actually service the oil burner instead of trying to sell me on a new but you didn't service it and you tried to take my money from me so the joke's on you it was serviced. The oil burner only back fired. I'm still so pissed off that the guy you sent today to pick up your crappie temporary hot water tank he was also agreed that I did not need to replace it immediately however because it is an old oil burner replacing it after it actually does breakdown would be something I should think about in the future not something that I had to do right away in the middle of an emergency when it was cold as crap outside so yeah, this was bait and switch that it really pisses me off still that you're going to respond to my review without knowing the truth! FOH!! And you've already been reported to the BBB. You are supposed help people not take advantage of them you should have serviced it! And offered to regain my trust. Response from the owner 21 hours ago Hi Lorrie, We're sorry to hear about your less than satisfactory experience with Brinker's Energy and hope that you will accept our sincerest apologies. Unfortunately, your boiler was put out of service by the Fire Department. Until the Fire Department clears your boiler for service, we cannot service it. read more

Have used Brinker's for two major installs over the last few years. One an a/c upgrade and recently a new Burnham boiler system with upgraded pumps, piping radiators etc. The installers are very professional, super hard workers and clean. BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANY CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY! Purchased a contract cap rate in October. Since then prices have fallen drastically- however we continue to be charged our maximum price. I called to inquire about why and they stated that it's not based on market, but on their "retail" price - which is currently $1.50 per gallon over market rate. Seems very intentional that "retail price" is the only undefined term in their contract. They cited "price of having an all-inclusive service". This was not how it was explained during the sales call. The representative stated that if prices of oil came down, we would see savings. Now, they are saying their retail price is so far above market it would never be passed through. This is what you call a BAIT AND SWITCH. They now want a $200 termination fee. read more

Joe R. provided timely and thorough service to our system. We were completely satisfied with his prfessionalism.

Ricardo and Walt were phenomenal! I would recommend Brinkers and especially them. They were fast. Neat. Informative. Clean and went over every thing beautifully. For an ex business teacher my only regret is not being able to tell my class about your "class". Herb and Joan Spiegel read more

Amazing customer service. Don showed up and took care of my mother-in-laws water heater. Despite her desire to "live off the grid" he was eventually able to find our humble Buckingham abode and changed the components of a water heater under warranty. He was funny and friendly. It was a pleasure to have him repair her unit. We would recommend his services any time. read more

I was a loyal customer for over 7 years. They were good in terms of fuel delivery and annual boiler service, and the price was competitive when I first signed up. I only have myself to blame that for the last few years I haven't been inspecting the bills too closely. I looked at it just now to find out that I've been paying 3.999 for fuel oil, when according to the EIA retail heating oil website, the average is 2.87 for our state. When I called to inquire, and to give them the chance to match, they told us that it was the going price including delivery, and was spoken down to by the customer service representative and was told that my research was inaccurate. I immediately switched to somebody else for 2.70. So if you're a new customer, you're fine, but if you stick with them, be aware your prices will continue to rise as the years go on, even when the market price of heating oil falls. read more

SCAM ALERT! Used Brinker's for years, my heating unit stopped working. Called for their service tech, they told me it would be a $100 fee to come out. I told them that if he was going to come out and try to sell me a new unit then I didn't want the service call. They assured me otherwise, the tech came out, looked at it for 5 minutes and told me that I needed an all new unit, and that he would send their sales person by. I called another service company who came out and fixed the unit for $75. I politely asked to have the service call removed from my bill, since I didn't want to be charged $100 for them to try to sell me a new unit. They told me there was nothing they could do, but that they would send out a tech for free to see if I needed a new fuel tank! Terrible customer service. read more

We used Brinkers for decades. We were shocked to find out that they were charging us as much as $2.00 a gallon over market prices. Beware!

Right now (12/18/15) Brinkers is delivering at $2.79 while Meenan is delivering at $1.81 ... also, be sure to stop auto delivery when your contract is up or they will fill your tanks at the "market" aka "high" rate. read more

Three strikes and they're out. I gave this company too many chances to screw me over 1) first time with a home that used oil. I signed up for price protection with an estimate of my usage for the year and payments spread out over the year. The actual usage was 1/2 what I paid for and it was not an unusually warm winter. So they basically charged me for double the volume and held my money for two years. The excess literally paid for my whole next years bill. 2) paid for technician to come look at ailing A/C unit . He charges me for some $100 part. AC still doesn't work right. Come to find out my compressor is shot. (to their credit, they did refund me for part and service charge when I complained about the quality of service I received) 3) just saw they are charging me more than $1 over other companies oil prices. When I call they want to offer me a better price to keep me as a customer. The better price? still not as good as competitors. Plus I wouldn't even consider it at this point if they were cheaper than the competitor. Very nice women answering the phones though. read more

Do not trust these people. Be aware! Their sales person tells you one thing to trick into signing a contract. Then their customer service tell you another thing. I spent more than an hour on the phone with these people, the only thing they can tell me is "I don't know what the sales person told you. But we have a contract here" and "we are professionally trained customer service agents" and "you will be penalized if you cancel the contract." Hmmm, I am sure they are "professionally" trained--to trick you and spent time tell you how professional they are. read more

If I could I would give them a minus 5. They broke my contract twice. I joined the auto delivery and guaranteed price per gallon. Not once in two years did they ever reduce my per gallon price. I knew for a fact that the other oil prices were .30 -.50 cents less throughout a 2 yr time frame. They also kept cancelling, rescheduling, canceling again every time I had an appt for my yearly cleaning AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WINTER SEASON. It got to the point that the only time they were available was after the contract expired. ISN'T THAT CURIOUS!. The last oil delivery was last year. I paid for my VERY EXPENSIVE oil, cancelled my contract and refused to pay for the contract since they DID NOT SERVICE THE FURNACE. Everything was agreed and then some Ignorant bitch got on the phone and said you can't cancel, against the rules and you owe $$$. No, no ,no. That is not how it works. The fact that I paid the very expensive oil should have covered everything and be done with them forever. They did reduce what they say I owe, which leads to believe that they know their SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES BY HEART. STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY. FIND A BETTER OIL COMPANY!!!! read more

Had a new heat pump put in this summer. Had issues with the air conditioning after 2 weeks. Had 3 repairman come out and do nothing. Everyone of them told me something else. I wish there was a 0 star option. Beware of this company as they only care about getting your money then screwing you every which way they can- and they know all the tricks in the book. I had the unfortunate displeasure of using this company as referred by Lowes for a new Trane HVAC air handler, heat pump and duct work about 5 years ago. These guys are complete hacks and will take every shortcut in the business. I even wrote the owners and they never responded of course, so apparently customer service is at the bottom of their list. The workers left my site filthy every time they were here with sawdust and metal shavings, left my attic access panel wide open, left the crawl space door open and a ground hog got in, had no clue how to install a humidifier, shut off the power to our heat pump and left and blamed us and even disconnected the power line to our septic system which almost caused us major issues if we didnt catch it in time, didn't seal the duct work or insulate- we had to ask, tried to install flex duct in the center of our closet from first to second floor, left the flex duct on the ground in our crawl space, to name a few of the issue we experienced. There is no low that this company will stoop too. We even found a white rat in our house shortly after they left, which appeared like a pet store rat since it came right up to my wife. read more

Do not be duped. As I have read from others on this page, they are way over pricing their customers. My contract states that our billing is to be the prevailing market rate, not to excede 2.79. Our bill yesterday, on 2-8-26 was for 2.79 per gallon. Other oil companies are around 1.50-1.60 per gallon. This company will offer new contracts 1.79. If they are offering NEW contracts 1.79, isn't that the market rate? They are gouging me for an extra dollar a gallon, and have no concern that they lost a customer. So much for customer loyalty. FYI, DDM Energy in West Chester is owned by the same company read more

Brinker Energy is HORRIBLE!!! They installed a new Trane air conditioner and heating system at my home. They had to return because the air conditioner would not work. They wired it incorrectly. Then I requested service and the service tech arrived and said "You don't need service. Those thermostats are programmed based on duration and that is why it says you need service". System was installed in the winter and now it was time to service for the summer. He did NOTHING. Well, I know it is hot but my air conditioner runs ALL the time and the bill is higher than it has ever been. During prior years when we had extremely hot summers, the maximum bill was ~$185. Now my bill is at $303. In 18 years I have never seen a summer bill this high. Now, they want me to wait another month to come out to service the system and to determine why it continuously runs. read more

I have a service contract with Brinkers Energy for a year for $99.00 . So this year I had a man from Brinkers Energy come out and clean my oil furnace the man told me that your oil furnace needs to be replaced due to too much carbon monoxide going through the exhaust system . My oil furnace is 26 years so I told the man from Brinkers that's ok I have American home shield I will call them up and have them check it out if they can't fix it they will replace it . They sent out a man from comfort air tested the system everything check out ok. They told me that you're supposed to get carbon monoxide to your exhaust system they check the registers no carb monoxide coming through the registers.callback Brinkers they sent another guy out said the same thing needs to be replaced do not use this system. So I called back American home Shield and I asked for a second opinion they set another guy out from a different heating and air system company . He took the system panels off looked around for cracks no cracks he said the system is running fine. So I think I will not get any more oil from Brinkers Energy . It would cost $5000.00 to replace the system . I did get three carbon monoxide testers on all three floors just in case. I think Brinkers Energy is trying to rip me off read more

I moved into this house in Horsham a few years ago. At first the man from Brinker came out to estimate the amount of a top off for oil. My little house is only 819 square ft. I had no problems for over a year because the man said I would only need about a 60 gallon top off every few months, even though my huge tank in the basement holds 250 gallons. Then a new guy came out and in APRIL filled my bank with 250 gallons. I called to ask why and then another guy came out and looked at my tank and said it was rusty and threatened not to give me further oil. The next day I got an email from Brinker saying my tank was rusty and trying to sell me a new tank. I'm retired on a fixed income but I keep getting bills within days of each other, varying from $458 to over $1,000. When I called to complain the person told me that their billing department is a mess and promised to straighten it out. Never happened. After being satisfied Brinker's customers for more than 15 years, we recently had an exceptionally upsetting experience that others should know about. For those 15 years, we had both a service contract on our heating system and an automatic fuel oil delivery contract. We never had a problem. In fact, their service people were courteous, competent and timely. Their prices were competitive. However, in the past year, they have apparently been acquired by or merged with an outfit called Hop Energy, based in Connecticut. We received a fuel oil annual budget estimate that was far higher than we had ever paid, at a time when oil prices are at historic lows. We also received an outrageous bill for some fuel system upgrades. I called to inquire about these bills and received no reply. I let some time pass, only to be served with a lawsuit for an outstanding balance. I have since negotiated a settlement with their attorney, but gone is the family-run, consumer-friendly neighborhood fuel oil company. Now, with the Hop merger, I can only wonder what goes on. I hope some of their fine service people jump ship to competing fuel oil companies so they can continue to be appreciated by customers. read more

We HAD been customers of Brinkers for YEARS. We spent THOUSANDS on installation of heating and cooling throughout our home and they continued to gouge with oil prices. We asked for a lower rate (we had been buying oil for 10 years from them!) and over the summer I was told the BEST they could do was $2.60. And then another gentleman without Brinkers said that we should be getting around $2.40, which was STILL too high and never offered to be by the customer service person. I never could truly understand my statements and their billing always seemed underhanded and shady and I'm convinced the only reason they're still in business is because people in this area have too much money and blindly just keeping paying their monthly oil bill. The only reason I'm ok with this business even having one start is because their technicians have always been great to us and done a nice job with the installs. Don't get oil from these guys.
