Tom and I chatted over Yelp, and he told me that he was unavailable for the 3 days I had selected. I asked him if he could do another day, and he gave me a call. Over the phone, he ran me through a couple of troubleshooting questions - Model of the unit, if there was ice on the line, if it was blowing hot air up top, temperature readings indoor over time compared to the weather. We talked for a good 5-10 mins, and he determined that he'd have to come out to take a look. He arrived on time, diagnosed the issue within 10 minutes, fixed it within 3 minutes, and gave us some yearly maintenance tips to keep things running smooth in the future. Namely power washing your unit on a yearly basis to keep things inside clean and air flow optimal. Tom is fantastic, and so is Scott. Tom came out rather late one night after I called about our air conditioner which died on us in mid-July. Did an initial assessment, then came back the next day to reassess it before giving me a final estimate and contract to sign. Took a week to get the parts in to replace the 20 y/o stuff, and get the job done, but in the end, it's working like a charm, is much quieter than the old system, and does not work as hard as the old one did to rake the humidity out of the air. My very old heating system went kaput a week before Christmas and with temps about to plummet to single digits. I called Universal to repair my air conditioner and to my surprise he said he would be here later this afternoon. Tom called later on in the day and said he would be here in 35 to 40 minutes. He arrived promptly. Tom replaced the capacitor, and the unit runs just fine. The cost was very, very reasonable, since I believed it would be much higher than $199.00. Before leaving, Tom gave me a company sticker if I wanted to put it on the unit, which I did immediately. I will definitely call Tom again if I have any problems with my heat or air. I called another company on 10/6/22 and made an appointment for 10/11/22. He said to expect him between 9:00 am & 12:00 pm. He did not show up and did not call. My AC unit was broken and within an hour of reaching out for a quote, Tom responded. He was knowledgable and respectful in answering my questions and was able to dispatch his brother to come out within a few days for a proper quote. His brother even went the extra mile during the quote process and provided some temporary stability to one of the lines. I wish that my installation of a new AC unit had been straightforward, but my HOA did not make the process easy, and there were many questions around liability regarding why and what broke the AC unit that delayed installation considerably.
