Wow. I read the reviews after I had selected Davis to perform the job (I know, that's backwards). Initially, I called and spoke with Bonnie at HQ she lined up Alex to give me an evaluation and estimate. Alex came over and looked at the old AC unit and furnace. His professional guidance including a recommended solution was both honest and accurate. I accepted his solution and scheduled the install. The entire time I was kept in the loop by text and phone calls. The day of the job they showed up exactly on time 8am. The team was fronted by Amando and with him was Pete and Tyler. This was clearly not their first rodeo. Amazing, the three men quickly removed the old units both inside and out and installed the new units. I've used Davis before to service my A/C unit and I was pleased with their service. That was a few years ago. About a month ago, I noticed one of my units was icing up. I called Davis and the the earliest appt was about 2 weeks out. When they came, the technician took one look at the units (he performed no testing or inspection) and told me my units were too old and I should consider replacing them for $5-8k each. I said they were only 16 years old! I asked him to look at the units and he said the one that was icing up needed freon and it would cost $500 for the first pound and about $300 for each subsequent pound. The unit needed about 3 pounds and I needed to sign a waiver stating there were no guarantees it would work and that there was probably a leak. I asked if he could check for a leak and he said he did not have the right equipment AND it would cost about $3k to check for the leak, and there were no guarantees. His opinion was that I should not check for the leak and just replace the unit. He seemed very intent on me replacing the unit rather than repairing what I have. I paid $1045 for 3 pounds of Freon and he left. I got no invoice for the visit and had to call to get the office to have them send an invoice. My impression from this visit... I will never use Davis again. The technician was horrible and only wanted me to buy a new unit rather than repair the one I have. Maybe that's a good strategy for some people, but not for me. Since this visit, my 92 year old mother-in-law's two A/Cs were not working. I went over and tried to make them work, but was unable to get them to work. So, we told her she had to stay with us until we could get them repaired. I called Davis and they said they could not come out for 2 weeks! I called many others and most of them could come in a week and I found one that could come immediately (recognizing it was an emergency) but since it was a weekend, they would have to charge us a little extra. I agree it could wait until Monday morning. This company sent the technician out and and he did a completed diagnosis of both units and said one unit was low about 1 pound of Freon and it was $225/pound. He did not push me to get it charged. He also replaced the capacitor in the other unit and measured both units to make sure they were both working well. He even went up in the attic and made sure the drain was clear. Bottom line: This company recognized that a 92 year old could not live in their home when it was 87 degrees and came out and did a full inspection of both units and got them in perfect working order. The bill was amazingly reasonable, given it was an emergency and NO ONE else would come out! Davis blew it on their last visit to me and I will be recommending the other company from now on. read more

I'm updating my review. We have used Davis for over 4 years now and love them. They are a family owned business and will try their best to get to your house as soon as possible. They negotiate prices and give you the best product while also being truthful in what you need!!!! We needed a new furnace/AC for 4 years, but put it off. Finally we bit the bullet and installed new units for a reasonable price. Thank goodness we did bc this winter has been unbearable and the old furnace would have been done. Simply the best. They know what they're doing and Tom (the owner) has gone to great lengths to make sure I'm happy. They installed a new Lennox furnace & AC system for downstairs (already had a similar Lennox system from a different installer for upstairs). Done quickly, smoothly and correctly. The former installer was simply not competent. Tom now maintains both systems with Bronze care for existing unit and Davis Care for new system. When I had a problem with my iComfort Wi-Fi controller, Tom worked with the manufacturer to pinpoint the problem, then got them agree to replace it with a new and FREE S30 controller (which doesn't have that problem). They are wonderful but want to add we had a little problem and the true test of a company is how they handle a situation. If I could give 6 stars I honestly would. I chose Davis after seeing other positive reviews, so glad I did! I put in an inquiry and they called me within a half hour. We called to have Davis come out to check our air conditioning unit because with the warm weather it didn't seem to be working. They were totally helpful & sent a tech out the same day. Dylan arrived at the time that was expected & checked out the unit & told us what he found to be problem. Since the unit is only 5+ years old we should be covered for parts. Unfortunately Davis does not deal with our brand so we have to have to deal with original installer for the repair but we are happy to have found a reliable local heating & air conditioning company to deal with from now on. As soon as Davis was notified of the situation they came to house and assessed the situation. They were very informative and discussed all options with us. Called davis when my furnace motor went and they were excellent. They came over the same day and gave me a detailed bill on what everything was going to cost. They also answered any questions we had and gave us other options. A couple weeks later the outside unit stopped working and I called them again. They came and fixed the problem within three hours. They never overcharge and are always upfront with you. They also can work out payment plans for people that may not be able to pay in full.
