Brilliant Earth - Seattle University Village Showroom. Faulty clasp discovered the day after Christmas. The store acknowledged the defect and sent them out for repair -- without disclosing that doing so could affect return eligibility. A replacement pair was issued... with the same clasp defect. After multiple visits, calls, and emails, I returned both the earrings and the gift-with-purchase item. The return was accepted and later confirmed. Nearly a month later, I was told the return was "outside the return window" -- the first time that was ever mentioned. Brilliant Earth currently has the earrings in their possession and we still do not have a refund. Defective product, defective replacement, inconsistent communication, and a return accepted then retroactively denied. Extremely disappointing experience for a fine jewelry brand. read more

My partner and I dropped by to view engagement rings. This was just a browse and learn about diamonds and to view the styles in person vs online. We had a 50 minute consultation and while it was insightful to learn about the 4 Cs and get an up close look at the diamonds. We felt like the entire appointment was so sales pushy. We stated this visit was JUST TO LOOK and get an idea of what I'd like. But the lady really tried to get my partner to put a deposit down for a ring I was just so-so about. So disappointing considering the rings they do have are very pretty. But the negative things I've heard about BE combined with this particular interaction has left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm giving Brilliant Earth in Seattle one star. I bought an engagement ring, and after a month or two, a side diamond fell out. We sent it for repair, after about a month of waiting they basically just popped it back in and it fell out again immediately when we got it. We asked to change the ring style, paying extra, and after all the trouble, they still charged us that difference (which was $100) no courtesy at all. Then we waited again and after 2 months we finally got the ring back, and got a "sorry" gift that was just insulting. I can't recommend them quality and service were both disappointing. Honestly it ruined the beginning of our engagement experience. The ring was in repair or with them longer then it was on my fiance finger. We walked in on a Saturday not expecting to get much service since it's a Saturday and a walk in, so we also booked an appointment the following Saturday just in case. I pretty much had an idea of what I wanted in terms of shape of the diamond and setting, but wanted to see for myself what it might look like in person. Even though we just walked in, to our surprised, the staff were amazing! We had the pleasure to speak with Caleb, and he was so knowledgable, provided us with so much information on what to look for, answered all of our questions, and just generally vibed with us. He scheduled us an appointment the following day too to look at actual diamonds! Unfortunately, he wasn't the person to lead the appointment, but he did train the person that helped us in that appointment! Sam was wonderful. So sweet and patient with us! In the second appointment we were able to see the actual diamonds in the shape and carat size I was envisioning. Sam explained more about settings and helped me understand what I was looking for. There's loads of review, especially on Reddit, about BE's reputation, and I was really hesitant on service as well as my ring. My ring is beautiful and my experience was great. No issues with my ring and it looks and feels well made. read more

Another BE update. I cannot stress enough to not shop at this store. My wedding band is a delicate band with stones around the top half, and a prong holding the stones in place. When we originally went in to buy a band I had wanted one that was more delicate but they told me that one wasn't suitable to be an everyday wear and you'd have issues with the stones falling out-- they suggested instead the size band that we ended up purchasing and that we wouldn't have those issues. Since my wedding in early September 2024 I have worn the ring seldomly because we got pregnant and then I had my kiddo. We have taken the ring in twice to be cleaned and both times multiple stones were loose, so loose that they wouldn't clean it. BE told us that we didn't need to do anything to send it in other than to file the warranty but once we went to file the warranty the warranty company said we needed to provide a video of the loose stones (just another example of BE being unable to communicate properly to their customers) to BE credit, they finally did the bare minimum, and made this wrong right by fixing the stones for free without the warranty needing to be used. The next time that we went in (less than a year later) and were told more stones were loose after minimal wear, we asked to speak to a manager to understand why a ring, that BE recommended we get and had been barely warn, continues to have issues. The manager said that before she could help us we'd have to send it in for inspection. We spoke with that team today who said stones were loose, prongs needed to be fixed and my favorite part: they emphasized that the ring had more damage than you'd expect to see in the time since the last time it was fixed as if implying it was not only warn often but mistreated. She then said something along the lines that the type of ring isn't meant to be a daily wear ring. I cannot stress enough how little I've warn this ring because of pregnancy and postpartum and again this is the ring that BE suggested we purchase as our wedding band. I can't help but think this was done on purpose to try to take any blame away from BE and why the manager wouldn't help us until it was sent in for repair. If in the 20 times I've worn that ring in the 8 months caused that much damage it says a lot about their quality of rings. I cry whenever I have to deal with this ring and this symbol from my wedding day that should be nothing but happy memories is instead overshadowed by this terrible company. read more

I sent my ring to Brilliant Earth to be resized just half a size and to have a diamond tightened--routine work after only six months of wear. After they pushed the delivery date back by three weeks, I'm now over six weeks past the original return date and just found out they're re-making the entire ring. After only six months, why does a $10,000 ring need to be completely remade? What's worse is the complete lack of real customer service. You never get to speak with anyone who can actually help--only call center reps who are clearly limited in what they can do. For a company that markets itself as premium and ethical, the customer experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Buyers beware: you're paying top dollar, but the post-purchase support is nowhere near what it should be. read more

He took the time to educate me on what to look for in diamonds and settings, explained all the options, and even helped me pick a few different combinations of stone and settings. I loved the fact that I could see each individual diamond online at high magnification and 360 degree view. It really helped me pick the perfect stone. I also loved that I could see how various shapes would look on every single setting available. My only qualm is that FedEx is a terrible courier and delivered my package a week later than scheduled on 2nd Day shipping due to a myriad of problems. Visited Brilliant Earth Seattle on August 21, 2021 to have my engagement ring resized. Another couple was there picking up a ring. Place is nice and clean, small in space. The woman I dropped off my ring to stated my ring was a 4.25 based on her resizing tool. Informed her it should be a size 4.5 per invoice from Brilliant Earth. The woman there was able to locate the order my fiancé purchased with a phone number search using his phone number. Was informed 2-4 weeks for resizing. Informed her I would suggest Brilliant Earth call me instead of my fiancé as he lives in Texas and I live here in Washington. Provided her with my phone number, ID for verification of drop off and left. Later my fiancé informed me Brilliant Earth called and wanted $135 for resizing and they failed to grab payment. I am not sure why I did not receive that phone call. I then receive a separate call on August 23rd that 'my husband's' billing address for his credit card provided does not match the one on file. I am not sure why they called me this time. Today, I come home to a FedEx package sitting on my doorstep from Brilliant Earth with my ring inside. I received no phone call and am fortunate my package did not get swiped. I am not sure why they shipped this package when I had not authorized any shipping or provided them with an ok to ship to this address. I have a separate address for mailing due to high package theft in the area. Overall, I am disappointed with the lack of attention to details (calling my fiancé versus me, despite being provided with my phone number at the counter, shipping versus pick up, missing the payment needed, not verifying the address prior to shipping, lack of follow-up phone call, need of verifying billing address, etc.) I cannot recommend Brilliant Earth at this time. read more

I would recommend Brilliant Earth to all those who are searching for rings. I believe in their mission and the work they are doing. Their rings are gorgeous - so sooooo shiny when you look at them in the store under the lights. They have 45 min. appointments if you want to look at the products and they have 15 mins. appointments for pick up. I've done both - once to look at potential wedding bands and the next to pick it up. Each one, I felt like I was treated so well - the customer service is really top notch. During the 45 min. appointment, I got to see all the rings that I wanted. The employee gave me advice and was really nice about answering all my questions and everything. She took down notes of what I liked and afterwards, sent me an email with links and notes of what I had chosen during the appointment. I ended up buying a wedding band later on and the pick up was quick and easy and the ring came in a beautiful wooden ring box and a really cute baggy. Sara from Brilliant Earth reached out to me to ask me what she could to get me to remove my review. She quickly promised that Brilliant Earth would cover the cost of this repair and offer an extended warranty free of charge, assuming I removed my review. This sounded like a great resolution to me, until I tried to get it in writing. In the end, they declined to provide anything about the extended warranty in writing and when I pressed the issue further, Sara's manager called me to let me know that I should disregard any promises given by Sara. It was a really strange experience and one that makes me lose a lot of trust in all the other reviews here. In the end, they covered this repair cost but maintained that the reason the diamond fell out was due to wear and tear on the ring, not a manufacturing error. It's insane to me that they would think it's normal wear and tear for a diamond to fall out of ring after less than a year. So TLDR- pretty rings, but very fragile and don't believe anything they say unless you get it in writing. read more

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this company to anyone. I'm on my 4th piece of jewelry from them, which happens to be my most important/treasured (my engagement ring). I had decent experiences with the company until this nightmare of an experience. From the start of the initial engagement ring order, delivery was delayed causing my fiancé to not be able to propose on our trip. Fine, whatever, it happens. He orders the ring too big so we make an appointment to have them resize it. They say it will take 3-4 weeks. Our wedding was 5.5 weeks away at this point. They said they'd be sure to include that info so we'd have it back in time. They spend the first 2 weeks after we ship it to them sending us the same email and calling asking over and over again to verify the size we want it. We remind them of the date we need it back by. When asking why they hadn't started it yet they blame it on delays with extend (the warranty company) even though extend tells us they've already approved it. They then tell us all is good and will be delivered no later than the 23rd. That comes and goes. We call on 26th they say it's been delayed for unknown reasons and will be delivered on 28th. We still have no FedEx email so we call and they say oh it's been delayed again for unknown reasons and will be delivered on the 29th. Our wedding is now 4 days away and our 8k ring is in limbo somewhere with no one able to tell us why or when it will definitively come. Just random customer service agents that hardly speak English reading a generic excuse from a computer. I have asked to be escalated to management multiple times with no success. I now have to go through my wedding and pictures without this ring that means so much to me. I am heartbroken. I wish I never ordered through them and would never wish this experience on anyone!! read more

All the associates here are wonderful and welcoming. However, my experiences with engagement ring shopping here were not great and deterred me from ultimately purchasing a ring--disappointing as I always thought I wanted a ring from Brilliant Earth. I love their designs and ethical sourcing, although I don't agree with their sales tactics . I had two appointments at BE with my partner. Each appointment is limited to one hour. I went into the 1st appointment not knowing what type of ring, sizing, details, etc I wanted. The associate who led my appointments was wonderful and very informative, and requested for additional inventory to see in person for my 2nd appointment. Personally, I wish they'd have all the models of the settings available to see in person, rather than only having some models available and asking their clients to 'pretend' the size and color is different when trying the dupe settings on. Especially for being a large, reputable brand with more than one showroom. The purpose of ring shopping is to visualize the rings in person. Then my 2nd appointment: for the first 30 minutes I got to narrow down the settings I liked and visualize some diamonds that were requested, but I still was unsure about some details and had questions. Still unsure, I was told to step outside of the room, then my partner was given a lengthy 30 minute discussion about purchasing, finance options, ring insurance--a sales pitch we weren't ready for when we still had questions. I wish I could've spent the remaining half of this appointment to look at the settings and diamonds I narrowed it down to, but it felt like I had a few minutes to look at each one. Perhaps BE is a good option if you know exactly what you're looking for. But if you need time to ask questions, try on different settings, band width, size, color, etc, I don't recommend coming here. read more

Made an appointment to look for engagement rings. The staff were friendly and courteous. We were able to start on our appointment time which appreciated. We emailed a list of settings and diamonds wanted to look and of course the budget because it is only 45 minutes appointment. All the settings which I emailed were there to try. Then diamonds, three of them are presented, they were all lab created diamonds, even I asked for natural diamonds too. We were waiting to look for natural diamonds, but never presented. Associate started to talk about protection plans, which is 3yrs, 10yrs and lifetime? ( additional cost, of course the center stone won't be covered which I know) And return policy and such. We felt rushed, and while we were sitting on a room, another associate came and out multiple times which door opens and closes was not pleasant. With the finance issues with this company, the ring I picked was less than 3% of our combined income, I wonder if they missed "0"? we were puzzled and decided not getting from Brilliant Earth. Later, we stopped at Tiffany and we picked a beautiful Tiffany engagement ring and his and her Wedding bands. The engagement ring is "Tiffany setting" and the center stone is excellent cut, it stunning on my finger. And of course we were able to get 0% finance from Tiffany. I'm sure it happened for a reason. However, I would still describe her as unfriendly, condescending, and awkward. There was always a slight edge or tone to her voice, her expressions were judgmental, and she didn't know how to guide the conversation, ask questions, or offer depth of information. Both my partner and I felt the same way walking out of the store. Made it seem like consultations are the only model of business they're interested in. Ben Bridge associates at U Vill were much more informative, professional, and friendly, reminding me that I wasn't bothering them at all when asking to try things on and letting them know a consultation wouldn't be binding, if/when I choose. I experienced very poor customer service. The only person in the store to even acknowledge mine and my fiancé presents was a security guard. We arrived no more then 20 minutes after opening and if you know the store location, it is incredibly small. There was one employee behind the counter helping another customer who arrived before us. We could audibly hear additional workers in the back, a new worker came out to help the person at the counter, and we were not greeted by the cashier or the new employees who were arriving from the back. I even took a seat in the reception area to indicate that I was ready and needed help, all in all we were there for about 15 minutes and we're not even acknowledged ...... worst customer service I've experienced... especially when you're ready to drop a few thousand dollars. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere and bought jewelry from another fantastic jewelry store around the corner. Don't waste your time. read more

I already knew which ring I liked, but we wanted to come in for sizing and to ask a bunch of other questions (about the stone, size, color, etc.) so that he could purchase at a *later* date. She was super friendly and very informative about the stone and band we'd inquired about. We truly learned so much. Jewelry shopping can be an intimidating experience (especially when inquiring and not buying), but Jennifer was so welcoming, patient, completely unpretentious, and even shared her own stories (e.g: "my sister has a similar stone and she loves it!"), which immediately put us at ease and further confirmed our choices. ***Update: I was just bribed with $100 to turn my review into a 5 star and was asked to sign a document stating I would never post another negative review. I declined. The below spans from March-August 17th. A more detailed version of the below went to multiple recipients without resolve. I am STILL very unhappy with my purchase, and it has been 150 days. The 'customer service' I have been subject to is unacceptable. I ordered my dream ring, but the ring had poor diamond quality. I booked a Seattle showroom appointment for review of the diamond. I was told the Diamond had poor dimensions (even though I shopped with the right parameters) leading to poor light performance. I ask the employee how many more times I can change it before I must get a refund and she says 'one more time after this' with no mention of the fact that I am ineligible for a refund if I go forward with an exchange. I pick out a new diamond in person for $1,300 more so I'm not disappointed with an online Diamond again and leave the ring there. Showroom employee says she will email me same evening with the Diamond details and pricing (she did not). I email customer service asking for the diamond details, and they oblige. Showroom employee calls when the new ring arrives to tell me that the craftsmanship is unacceptable, and they do not want me to pick the ring up; they want to send it back to be redone and I tell her I am more than willing to wait for perfection. No contact whatsoever for multiple weeks. I send an email to customer service to get an update. I spoke to them about shipping the ring to my home address from the showroom and was told it will ship next day overnight. It never did. I reached out to customer service via phone call. I am asked to pay the remaining balance before it will ship. I refuse until I am given a full refund policy exception due to the craftsmanship issues prior. A 'manager' calls me and confirms a policy exception for me because she can't believe the number of notes on my account. The ring delivers, is mounted horribly crooked and has prongs that curve badly to the left ***The ring was delivered to the Seattle showroom PRIOR to shipping to my home address and was allowed to ship anyway*** I call customer service asking for a manager to call me. No call. I send an email asking for a manager to call me. No reply. I call again asking for a manager. Again, I set up a return/repair and was told that the ring would be handled the moment it arrived with priority and that someone would contact me PRIOR to the repair process. None of that happens. The ring sits for over 7 days and repairs begin without my knowledge. I am given a shipping and delivery date. It never ships. I ask for a manager to call me. A 'manager' calls and apologizes for the poor customer service. She will work 'really hard' to get me a monetary refund for the nightmare I have ensued. Lie. Ring ships with NO WARNING. Ring doesn't deliver (Took day off work costing me money). Ring delivers (Took day off work costing me money). AGAIN, more quality issues. Now, two prongs on my 'double, triple, quadruple inspected' ring are closer together than the other two. I email Diana Reisman - 'manager' - to tell her that the ring is still not repaired! I want monetary compensation. She offers me $46 off my next purchase as a joke. I tell her no; I will not repurchase. She asks to call me so we can find a solution. Fine. She calls me to tell me that there's nothing she or Brilliant Earth will do for me, but she would be happy to take my ring for a 4th repair. Brilliant Earth has no true customer service whatsoever. Brilliant Earth took almost $8,000 out of my bank account in March/April of 2022 without ensuring that I, the consumer was satisfied; I am NOT satisfied, and it is August 17th, 2022. The continuous poor craftsmanship that Brilliant Earth has allowed to be shipped to me is sad and indicative of their core values. Brilliant Earth stole the romance and joy out of my customizing a very, very expensive piece of jewelry as an anniversary gift from my husband. I will always feel that that when looking down at the ring that still has poor craftsmanship after multiple attempts.
