If you are in pain and push call button expect to wait 4 hours or more for the Nurse to bring it to you, excuse was she had to give out scheduled meds before attending to my needs. I was once a case manager for all Care One facilities and was stationed out of Holy Name Hospital at the time and now know why the patient or their family member would call me of what was going on at one of the facility I would transfer them too.

When my mom would have a day where she was not doing well they sent her to a Psych ward at a local Psych Hospital where she was left alone in the ER overnight with handcuffed criminals! There are no large open outdoor/ indoor visiting areas for family to visit with the patient . Mental illness is very difficult to care for. These Alzheimer's and dementia care facilities for the aging charge $12,000 a month and Medicare doesn't cover a dime. You would expect for that amount of mula, your loved one would be getting hands on care , but not the case here . Was very disappointed with the outcome from this place .

There is very little Continuity of care from a weekday to a weekend. We have had medication issues as well as issues of my father left in bed for up to 18 hours because he is unaware of his situation and agency staffing do not attempt to get him up, dressed and taken to the bathroom. If your loved one cannot advocate for him/herself be prepared to spend weekends there helping. You become a volunteer on weekends and holidays.

The Paramus location is small facility (max 16? residents), but it is exactly what we need. It is good for LO who have limited mobility and do not need the open space to wander around. Each resident has their own small room, and shared bathrooms like dormitory style. Open kitchen, dining and living room concept, letting the caregivers to view of the residents. There is a small front porch and backyard patio too. Director Sheleen is responsive, detail and on top of things. Most caregivers are caring, and regular staffed, enabling consistent care. She was given medication to help with the loss of my dad by the facility doctor. My sister came to see her and the meds made her completely lethargic. My sister asked the staff to watch her because of the condition she was in. The facilities coordinator explained to us that my mom did not want to go to bed so they decided to leave her in her wheelchair unattended. My mom fell out of her wheelchair and was taken to Hackensack hospital. She suffered a broken nose , lacerations,and a severe concussion. One month later she has still not recovered, she lost the ability to swallow and was given a feeding tube, My moms doctor believes she may have lost the desire to live due to depression and the condition she is in. The staff was warned about my mothers condition before the accident by my sister. Instead of placing her where she could of been watched they were negligent by leaving her alone in the hallway. This accident could of been avoided if Emeritus cared enough to use professional judgement regarding my mom and her condition. What makes us even more upset about Emeritus is my mom has been hospitalized since and is currently in a rehab facility for the past month without anyone calling from the facility to see how she is. When someone places their loved one in a facility you would expect them not to end up in worse condition. Please do not make the same mistake our family is going through.

They told me that they ordered them without my knowledge because that's the way they do things..... There are many other rehab places....pass this one by.
