It was interesting to find that the alcohol laws are so different here in New York. But I love a (practically) beer only store! Because you know what isn't allowed in CA?? Filling growlers anywhere except a brewery tap room! And even some tap room locations don't have the right permits to fill your growlers. We love the rotating beers. That's how I discovered Sour Monkey by Victory...and fell in love. As far as customer service and prices, we've never had an issue. The cashier insisted it was "New York State law" that they couldn't accept a vertical ID, which is completely false. NY State law does not require an ID to be horizontal as long as it proves you're 21. When I politely inquired another worker about it, and he was nasty and rude, offering no real explanation and acting like I was causing a problem just for asking a valid question. If this store wants to make up their own rules, at least train your employees to be polite about it. I ended up going to Caputi Liquors, where they properly followed the law and accepted my ID because vertical IDs are valid in New York State. I won't be coming back to Global Wine & Spirits.
