The concept of a store that sells only beer and a few other things is a new one to me. It was interesting to find that the alcohol laws are so different here in New York. But I love a (practically) beer only store! Because you know what isn't allowed in CA?? Filling growlers anywhere except a brewery tap room! And even some tap room locations don't have the right permits to fill your growlers. We love the rotating beers. That's how I discovered Sour Monkey by Victory...and fell in love. As far as customer service and prices, we've never had an issue. They did accidentally charge my husband for a six pack of Coke when it was supposed to be a single can. I noticed later on the receipt, so he brought it up to the cashier the next time he was in and was refunded no problem.

The cashier insisted it was "New York State law" that they couldn't accept a vertical ID, which is completely false. NY State law does not require an ID to be horizontal as long as it proves you're 21. When I politely inquired another worker about it, and he was nasty and rude, offering no real explanation and acting like I was causing a problem just for asking a valid question. If this store wants to make up their own rules, at least train your employees to be polite about it. I ended up going to Caputi Liquors, where they properly followed the law and accepted my ID because vertical IDs are valid in New York State. I won't be coming back to Global Wine & Spirits.

I'm a vodka guy, and while nothing rivalled Gates Circle or even Amherst Liquor in terms of selection, they did have some Texas stuff that took me down Memory Lane, if at prices that indicate that the rent on Memory Lane has gone up a bit since I last checked. There were a few Japanese whiskeys I had not seen elsewhere, so that's worth a look if that is a game you play. The wine selection, so far as I can tell, featured wine but did not stir my soul in its breadth or variety. No points were awarded or subtracted based upon this deeply subjective and somewhat arbitrary observation. So, we rolled around a bit, I grabbed a magnum of Deep Eddy, and we rolled out. I'd give four stars if the markup were more in line with the bigger stores, but it's a bit more ($37.99 for a big Tito's is among the less competitive prices I've seen in Buffalo). Unless you insult deceased relatives, it would be hard to imagine me giving fewer than three stars to a liquor store, because liquor. And so here we are. There is limited parking in front, employees and customers were mask-compliant, and aisles appeared wheelchair-accessible.
