I'm a big fan of the Hot Dog Shoppe in general. I've been to this location multiple times over the years. My most recent visit was right before Christmas. As some have said, this isn't the fastest location but my meal (two hot dogs with chili/onion, side of fries) came out lightening fast. Good food for around $7.00. Location is clean and friendly. I've had the burgers, shakes, soup, and breakfast before. You can't go wrong with anything at the Hot Dog Shoppe. It isn't five star dining but you will enjoy it. read more

My friend and I stopped here for a quick hot dog since we were in the area. She's been here multiple times and loves it. This place is very simple (not in a bad way) and straight forward. I ordered a hot dog with cheese (melted), ketchup and pickles. They have a drive thru so we just ordered that way. The hot dogs are really good. But the star of the show are the buns. It's painful to see the once truly great Hot Dog Shoppe begin to slip a bit. I have been going here for decades (and even worked here for a couple of years in high school a very long time ago), and I still love it. But things have definitely slipped. The chili sauce is clearly still the same recipe and is still great! But the food prep has become very inconsistent and VERY slow! It is amazing how many people are working back there without actually getting the food out. It used to be, with rare exceptions, one person on the grill and one on the fryer, cranking out one order after another as they were called out. Now there is a lot time spent looking around and walking around and opening and closing bags and storage spaces etc. We were there recently on a slow night and they had two grills going, and it still took forever to get the food out. And the burger was cooked to a crisp! Literally inedible because of how hard the bottom of the patty was. Nothing that a little more hands on managing and more energetic workers can't fix, but it seems (unfortunately) headed in the wrong direction.. read more

Good old hot dog shoppe. This place is nostalgia in a brick building for me. This visit I was here with the whole family and we got breakfast. I got the Jumbo Reveille, with bacon, dippy eggs and toast. This place has great prices for all their food, but you really can't beat a giant breakfast and a coffee for under $10. Stopped in while passing through Beaver, PA. The staff was very friendly, and the hot dogs were quite good, although I have eaten better ones. The reason for the 2-star rating is the restrooms, which were disgusting. It appears they clean the restrooms once a month, whether they need it or not. This place used to be the best location in Bvr county. The others were good but this one was my favorite. I ordered take out, and it took the gal who ran the register 60 seconds to acknowledge me. Which is not how they do things at the BHDS, they have a French fries person, counter, and cook or two cooks. I ordered and was waiting and waited from 6:47-7:18 now that's long for a place not busy. This is more of a review for the owners. I love Beaver hotdog shop. There are certain times of the day where they are so busy. But something really needs to be done to help the efficiency of it. I pulled in on a Sunday evening at 4:25 PM, and the drive-through was out the parking lot. I called To ask how long to go order will take. They told me 10 minutes. I place my order on the phone, which was a whole debacle itself, paid over the phone,,I proceeded to then wait 43 minutes in the lobby for my order. Something needs to be done with their drive-through/phone orders/to go orders/dining room orders. We are fully aware that Covid has changed the way restaurants operate, but this location desperately needs some help. The employees were great, and trying to help, but it was too much for the amount of employees they had. read more

My wife and I went to the Beaver Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe Saturday September 17, 2022. We ordered hot dogs, french fries and drinks. First, the buns tasted like rejected buns; they did not hold the hot dogs and fell apart which means we ate the dogs without buns. Second, the french fries were over cooked and tasted terrible; which means we did not eat any fries. The worst experience at this location. How could a company who specializes on hot dogs and french fries screw up that badly. They may want to change their name to Reject Hot Dog Shoppe. Their changes to cheap buns and fries left a bad taste in our mouths. We have told numerous friends and relatives about our experience and most of them echoed they experienced the same issues. First time at this location and it was kinda confusing as I did not know to wait to be seated or order now. So i asked and was told I had to order them sit and wait for my name to be called. There was no line and there was a few groups of people dining but not packed. Service was relatively fast maybe five minutes for two dogs and a water. The dogs where warm and the bun was soft! Lots of chili and not to much of a kick to the spice. The cheese is always great even at this location. And the onions add a real snap! Drive through and overall speed of service is terrible. Has been for years and ownership has done nothing to make it faster. It's one thing to wait 5 min in drive through, but 10,15, 20 minutes! It's ridiculous! They are always the last to update with technology and/or too cheap to invest in updating their systems. The drive through speaker looks like a speaker from the old fashioned drive-in movie theaters...from the 1960s...and sound like an early "talkie film." The only thing that redeems them is that their food has permanently implanted itself into the psyche of the population it serves. My campaign to hit every BHDS continues... BHDS grills a decent Oscar Meyer weiner. It is what they're known for after all, but the real story lies in their fresh-ground-daily (at a central processing facility) burgers, fresh-made-daily chili (see the burgers), and fresh-cut-daily toothpick french fries (see the burgers, again). A pattern is emerging? Can you see it? The burgers are sublime little creatures that are never frozen,are grilled to order, and thus annihilate Big Macs and Whoppers. The chili is rich, not over-beaned, and hides large clusters of that same chopped beef. The fries are simply handful-to-mouthful, handful-to-mouthful...etcetera, yummy etcetera. I challenge thee to just order one damn burger! Just one! Bah! Let's see, what all did we order Saturday afternoon for lunch? 4 cheeseburgers; 2 for each of us. Kay's Build: Chili and Onion. My Build: Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Mayonnaise, and Bacon. 2 LAAARRRGGGE soft drinks. 1 large order of french fries, plain. 1 small order of french fries with chili and cheese. 1 crock of chili for me. Our total? $19.61! The food is excellent, fresh, AND downright affordable. As a company, I hope that BHDS doesn't expand too hastily and become so vast that it loses its charm and attention to quality.
