Buyers Beware of Screamers Costumes!…read more I genuinely hate having to leave negative reviews, but my experience with Screamers Costumes has been so incredibly disappointing and frustrating that I feel obligated to warn other potential customers before they make the same mistake I did. I purchased a Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Leatherface mask well in advance of a Halloween costume event. I specifically chose the 2003 version because I was putting together a costume based on that particular movie. Anyone familiar with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise knows that the 1974 and 2003 Leatherface masks are completely different in appearance. They are NOT interchangeable, especially when you're trying to recreate a specific character's look. When my order finally arrived, I discovered that Screamers Costumes had sent me the WRONG MASK. Instead of the 2003 version I ordered and paid for, I received the 1974 version. Now, mistakes happen. I understand that. I'm a reasonable person, and initially, I wasn't even particularly upset about the mix-up. All I wanted was to return the incorrect item and exchange it for the mask I actually purchased. A simple mistake should have been an equally simple fix. Unfortunately, this is where the real nightmare began. I contacted Screamers Costumes to explain the situation. They responded exactly ONE time, asking which mask I had received. I answered their question and explained the issue. And then? Complete silence. I sent several additional messages attempting to resolve the problem. I gave them multiple opportunities to respond, acknowledge their mistake, arrange an exchange, or offer ANY kind of reasonable solution. Nothing. Not a response. Not an apology. Not even the basic courtesy of acknowledging that a paying customer had received the wrong product. What makes this especially frustrating is that THIS WAS THEIR MISTAKE, NOT MINE. I ordered the correct item, paid for it, and did everything I was supposed to do as a customer. Yet somehow, I was the one left chasing down a company that apparently couldn't be bothered to provide even the most basic level of customer service. Eventually, I paid the return shipping costs OUT OF MY OWN POCKET to send back the incorrect mask they had shipped me. So not only did I fail to receive the product I ordered, I also ended up spending additional money trying to correct THEIR error. To make matters worse, because this situation was never resolved in time, I MISSED MY HALLOWEEN EVENT. This was a costume-required event that I had specifically purchased this mask for. I had planned ahead, ordered in advance, and trusted this company to deliver what was advertised. Instead, I was left without the costume piece I needed, out additional money for return shipping, and completely ignored by the seller. And what has Screamers Costumes done to make this right? Absolutely nothing. No meaningful communication. No apology. No acknowledgment of their mistake. No effort to resolve the situation despite repeated attempts on my part. I find this level of customer service completely unacceptable, especially from a business selling specialty costume products that customers frequently purchase for time-sensitive occasions. When someone orders a specific mask for a convention, Halloween party, cosplay event, or other special occasion, receiving the correct product ON TIME matters. Customers shouldn't have to repeatedly beg a business to correct its own shipping mistakes. I would have gladly left a positive review if Screamers Costumes had simply acknowledged the error and made a reasonable effort to fix it. Instead, their complete lack of communication turned what should have been a minor inconvenience into an unnecessarily stressful and expensive experience. My advice to anyone considering purchasing from Screamers Costumes: BUYER BEWARE. If everything goes perfectly with your order, perhaps you'll have a different experience. But based on how my situation was handled, I would be extremely hesitant to trust this company with another purchase, particularly one needed for an important event or deadline. A business should be judged not only by the products it sells, but by how it treats customers when something goes wrong. In my experience, Screamers Costumes failed spectacularly at the latter. Screamers Costumes, if you're reading this: I gave you numerous opportunities to correct a straightforward mistake privately. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted the item I ordered and paid for. Your refusal to communicate or take responsibility is the reason I'm leaving this review. I will not be purchasing from this company again, and I strongly encourage other customers to consider my experience before placing an order. One star. Extremely disappointing, completely unprofessional, and an entirely avoidable situation.
