As I understand it, the colors that were promised in the flowers, and table arrangements, and the bouquets were not the colors of the wedding, and had to be remade at the last minute the morning of the wedding! (We weren't late but close. I'm guessing otherwise it wouldn't have been crowded.) The beams and chandelier were beautiful! We were towards the back and viewing the wedding party was almost impossible. It would have been helpful if they were elevated a bit. We waited outside as they transformed the barn to reception ready. It wasn't fast but the weather was great and enjoyed a beautiful view and sunset. The venue was very modern throughout and in the main room there are barn doors that open up to the outside. Also for large party sizes there is an upstairs that can hold additional guests. Our day-of host, Pete, was very courteous and helpful. We did have trouble getting management to respond to our emails and texts in the months leading up to the wedding. At one point, we didn't hear back for a full month. We also were told during our initial tour that the sound systems installed in the chapel and reception hall would be available to use, but were later told that we couldn't use the sound systems that are permanently installed, and rather we had to provide our own speakers and equipment. Other than the communication trouble and speaker situation, we really enjoyed having our wedding at River Road.

The location in Anna, TX is remote enough to make it feel secluded. Set off a country road, there is plenty of open field parking. From what I could see, there was the main reception building and the outdoor wedding space was across the creek. Upon arrival to the reception area, very nice, top of the line golf carts were waiting to chauffeur guests to the outdoor ceremony area. The ceremony took place outdoors past a small creek where there was a quaint bridge. The seating was set up in neat rows where the centerpiece had a lovely antique chandelier. There was also a mic set up and outdoor speakers so the vows could be easily heard as well as music to bookend the ceremony. Our friends who got married are huge Anglophiles and they chose "London Calling" by The Clash to take their first walk down the aisle as man and wife. Great touch! For the reception, the building has lots of long tables and some round ones. There was also a dance floor space. The only thing I would say here, is I wish there were some noise abatement measures. While there were speakers to amplify the toasts and speeches, the large space was too boomy to hear with clarity. Other than that, the space was very nice. There are also rooms to the sides of the main room for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready. The restrooms were also very clean and well maintained. Overall, I thought River Road Venue was a lovely place to attend a wedding and had beautiful grounds. I would definitely love to attend another wedding here again sometime.

And the only reason I didn't use them was another venue unexpectedly donated their venue to us at no charge... (Good to have connections!) Hard to beat a free venue... Kim was professional, personable, flexible, and extremely helpful in trying to meet my every need. We're a 501(c)3 and every dollar counts in our effort to fund local scholarships, and Kim took that guidance to the bank. She matched what I needed for per-meal price (beyond what any other venue could do), the price for the venue was VERY reasonable, and she was very timely in getting back to me after working out our deal with her manager. I called a lot of venues and talked to a lot of people. I'd looked into almost 30 venues for this event. Most venues are not flexible and didn't seem to care if they can't accommodate you. That's too expensive for you? Aw, sorry, good luck! *click* Others never even called me back. Not the case with Kim and Buffalo Valley. She really went the extra mile to make it work. It was a breath of fresh air working with her. I truly can't say enough good things about my experience. I highly recommend Buffalo Valley for your event.
