I paid a slightly higher than normal 'copay' but didn't think much about it. I just thought he had extra work done, hence the extra payment. They set our next appointment for August. My son's appointment is in a week and so I received a reminder phone call from a number from "Des Plaines." I'm glad I answered because the person told me the copay was going to be about $110. I said...um...ok...then I hung up. Come to find out from FB posts and another yelp reviewer that Sprout no longer takes Dental Dental PPO! I called Sprout to confirm and they said it's been like that for a year now; they only accept Premier. What?! It would have been nice to know that. Bye, Sprout! Now I really have a good reason to find a new pediatric dentist.

I was very nervous going to this appointment - breastfeeding has been very painful since my daughter was born, so on the one hand I was kind of hoping for a lip tie diagnosis as vindication that it wasn't just "my fault" that nursing was going so badly. On the other hand, I was nervous that she *did* have a tie and might need surgery (albeit very minor surgery). Dr Kirk was very reassuring from the beginning - he showed me a video of how a baby *should* suck and after an examination explained that in his expert opinion, my baby had both a (posterior i.e. easy to miss) tongue tie and an upper lip tie. He showed me photos of both that his assistant took so I could see what he was talking about. I then dissolved into tears because I was both relieved to have an explanation for the pain and sad that she would need to be handed over for a procedure. Dr Kirk and his assistant were both very kind and reassuring. The procedure itself was done by laser, which apparently means pain and bleeding are minimal. It took all of ten minutes before she was back in my arms and they let me breastfeed in a private room straight away. Daughter wasn't even crying when she came back from the procedure. Dr Kirk gave me his personal cell number in case I had any concerns about recovery, and his office called me later that day to see how my daughter was doing. So I received fantastic care in the office and also felt very supported thereafter. They also scheduled two follow-up appointments, which are included in the cost of the procedure (that cost, I would add, seems very reasonable - from what I can tell, it was cheaper for me to pay out of pocket here than it would have been to go with an in-network ENT specialist). I took one star off because I had an 11.30 appointment but didn't actually see the doctor until 12.30. Luckily I didn't have anywhere else to be, and it was worth the wait, but it would have been nice to be told on check-in that they were running a bit behind. If you have any suspicion of lip and/or tongue tie in your breastfed baby then I would highly recommend a visit to Dentistry for Kids.

After saying how that seemed extremely odd and concerning since this is a medical appointment and I'm their parent I was told it was "no different than day care". We don't do daycare either not that this is even remotely the same. Sorry I'm not leaving my small tiny children who I already mentioned were nervous with a man I've never met. I was then told maybe they could arrange for me to "meet him first". There's something very strange or worse going on here. Please steer clear.

Dr. Paula and her team are very friendly and the wait time has never been long. A plenty of Netflix kid shows are available for our selections. Our son is slightly timid around strangers. During the last routine examination, he was reluctant to open his mouth. However, Dr. Paula was patient and very approachable and got to see the condition of my son's teeth. The office visits that we had so far have been easy breezy. I encouraged my partner to make an appointment here since he was considering going to a different place for his teeth cleaning. Free street parking on Milwaukee Ave. is available. Some neighborhood parking spaces may be free, but check the signs before you park.

Then, on top of them over-prescribing work, my husband was given TOO MUCH anesthetic and started to have a panic attack. NO ONE was nearby to help him; he almost walked out and actually called me from the office. Finally, an assistant helped him calm down but the 'dentist' was long gone and seemed quite annoyed that the procedure had to wait. We had both been going to the dentist on schedule for the past 20 years; there is just no way we needed all the work they were telling us to do. We finally cut them off and found another new dentist before they could get their claws in further but it took A LOT of calls and combing through paperwork to get the right amount of money back from them that was being 'held on our accounts.' Oh, and they sent my husband home with a $27 tube toothpaste they didn't mention they'd be charging for and applied fluoride (at a cost) without asking or clarifying that it would cost more. VERY disappointed with their sneaky ways. We loved our old dentist but she moved. We've now found another independent provider (Zephyr Dental - yay!) but will never go to one of these conglomerates again if we can help it. Different dentists depending on the day and again, just lots of over-prescribing work that was not done well. Just had to have my new dentist refill a cavity that they filled LESS THAN A YEAR AGO because it came out. Glad we got out when we did but wish we had never gone here at all.

The whole staff, especially Dr. Lunsford and Dr. Acierno are fantastic. Upon my first visit, I met with Dr. Lunsford who is very kind. He stressed the importance of oral health, especially during pregnancy and made sure I kept up with the extra cleanings during pregnancy. Just yesterday, I had to come in for an emergency visit because the porcelain crown came off of one of my molars. I was able to be seen right away that morning, thankfully! Dr. Acierno re-cemented my crown and fixed me right up. My little girl was so entertained by all the new friends she made while her mama was being taken care of! If you're looking for a new dentist, Acierno Family Dentistry will not disappoint!

I go to Destiny Dental twice per year (check-up, x-rays, cleaning). I have been going here for 2…read moreyears. During the 2 year period, the turnover of dentists changed. In Year 2, I went for my check-up & cleaning and to my SURPRISE there was a different dentist. Also, Destiny Dental DOES NOT HAVE professional dental hygienists who will clean your teeth. Who cleans your teeth? THE DENTIST! I was shocked, the 1st time I went to Destiny, that the Dentist is the ONE performing teeth cleaning. The Dentist did an excellent job cleaning my teeth, but then I thought, wait a minute: Isn't there a better use of her time? Destiny Dental is located near Walmart & Walgreens. Their building/office is hidden and not visible from Touhy Ave. USE YOUR GPS to find it or you might drive right by it. Turn on Central Ave. OFF Touhy (if coming from west to east turn left, but if coming from east to west, turn right on Central). I am coming from west bound to east bound, so I turn LEFT on Central and then another LEFT turn at the very 1st driveway. Destiny Dental is located on the other side of Walgreens. Once you turn left into the 1st driveway, YOU WILL TURN LEFT at the very 1st lot opening. The reason I keep going here is because they accept my dental insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of IL). I don't pay anything for cleaning, x-rays, checkup). I had a molar extracted here and all I paid was $17; my molar was the last one in back on right side. It was very, very loose. It was loose because the bone was NOT holding it in place anymore. The bone was disappearing (shown on x-rays and per Dentist info.). Since molar was very, very loose it popped out easily. I had no pain and, yes, I had a shot to numb the area. I was NOT going to allow the extraction to take place without being numbed up. The procedure went smoothly and I did not experience any complications or pain afterwards. I had a dentist for over 20 years. Unfortunately, he does NOT accept the insurance I now have so I had to find a new Dentist that would take my insurance. This is why and how I ended up going to Destiny Dental in Niles, Illinois.

I returned it for a re-repair, and he attempted to charge me again even though he admitted that he had made a mistake and the fault was his. I recommend an itemized statement for all charges he attempts to hold you responsible for! I will not be returning!

This would have been the second time getting his tongue tie cut because the first Dr we went to was a waste of time. Dr. Walnarr didn't seem to care or have any opinion about his tongue or lip tie. I told him about my breastfeeding troubles and he was so nonchalant about the whole ordeal. I know the decision is mine as the mother, however, I'm not a doctor and need expert advice. He was basically like "if you get it, cool. If you don't, cool." However, with Dr. Kollmann, the minute you step into the office it just feels alive. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable (did not get that from Walnarr) and Dr. Kollmann, himself, was a gem! We were walked to a room and asked questions about why we were there and the lady was so sweet and understanding. He went through full detail with me about how the lip and tongue tie can affect breastfeeding and how the frenectomy can help. He showed pictures and videos about how the baby tongue works during suckling and how a tongue tie prohibits motion NEEDED to demand a supply. After the frenectomy, which was a 10minute laser procedure that I did not see, he encouraged me to breastfeed my son for as long as I need!! Other BF moms out there know how special He then went into detail about what exercises to do and what stretches we had to do to keep his lip/tongue tie from growing back or healing improperly. He gave us the tools we need to get started and although it killed me to do that to my LO for the first few days, my BF relationship with my son is thriving. The price I paid for the frenectomy and follow ups is the most bang for your buck out there. The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly.
