I made an appointment for a cleaning and was able to finally connect with someone after calling three times. My appointment was for annual cleaning. I checked in and they sat me in the back. They took a lot of pictures and X-rays and then they started the consultation. The hygienist was nice. The dentist came in and looked around for 5 minutes and said the girls in front will give you an estimate. The front office kept me waiting for 25 minutes. Keep in mind I have phenomenal insurance, i went up to the front and they hit me with a 5K bill keep mine that's after they maxed my 1k from my insurance benefits. I expressed to them to stop and not continue any services and I would be looking to getting a second opinion. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and I didn't need any of the items they were recommending and only spend 35.00 on my bill at the other office. Please make sure you get a second opinion and know your insurance. The billing at brighter smile is unethical and they are charging patients a 45 percent markup on their services. I am not sure if anyone has made them aware but they are in Jefferson park and not at 900 Michigan avenue. Consumer be very cautious at this practice. read more

This place is such a pleasure to go too! I go to the dentist very frequent due to getting some fillings done and an implant. I have to say, everytime I go to this establishment - everyone is SO welcoming and generous! I've never been so relieved and comfortable to see the dentist! Dr. Lee and Dr. Adam are amazing Dentist! They make my experience worthwhile! Lisa and Jessica are amazing too! I'm never confused about my bill or what I owe/ insurance covers! I do not like getting dental novocaine shots; they're usually awful! This practice was wonderful and patient-centered, and they are very strategic about keeping you comfortable. They use lidocaine intentionally, not just a quick smear and then horse-syringe-of-pain. The shots didn't bother me at all; I barely felt it. So I had to get a dental implant . I did not have enough bone for a crown or a partial bridge. I was told the cost and it would take almost a year for the entire process. Dr Adams was fantastic. Clean facility, friendly staff. They take multiple opportunities to see if you have questions and/or are 'okay' while in the chair or lobby. I'm fortunate to not have dental issues beyond normal cleaning so it was nice they asked I had questions, but I hardly do. My appointment started a bit after scheduled yet I received two apologies on that. Convenient location with parking lot; however I had to circle around the small parking lot shared with other businesses and it was full for 5 minutes before I found free parking. Thankful I found Dr. Beckerly when I was shopping for a new dentist. Not only is she "in my network" (meaning lower costs) she's also in my neighborhood. Proximity to my home came in handy the day before Thanksgiving when I found not one, but two painful teeth. They were able to squeeze me in for an examination, diagnose like root canals needed, and recommend a local endodontist - with whom I was able to schedule an exam and treatment that afternoon. Do not go here! The dentist screwed up twice and twice I needed to see another dentist because of her mess up. The first time was just a simple root canal and she left half the nerve hanging out of my tooth. I thought I was going to die. Went back the next day and acted like it was my fault and sent me to an endodontist. I was in so much pain I could barely walk and I had to take a cab. Worst experience ever! Then, went back stupidly to have a tooth extracted. She got have way thru and actually quit because she didn't have the tools to get the procedure done and said I have to go to an oral surgeon. Still have not gone cause they all want between $300-$500 down even with insurance and I just can't afford that. I had such an awful experience here that I felt it necessary to post. I went in for a routine cleaning,x-rays ( covered by insurance) and after they took the x-rays I was told I needed a "deep cleaning" which was over 1k and not covered by insurance. When I declined she refused to do the normal procedure. I have to agree with the others who posted negative reviews, expect a blatant money grab and retaliation if you don't agree. Dr. Michelle Beckerly and Mr. Ziggy are amazing!!! I was a referral patient through a friend, and couldn't be happier with my new dentist. Michelle discusses all options with you as a patient with honesty and integrity. She gives her patients the confidence to make their own educated decisions, and is not working in the best interest of the insurance company or her financial benefit, but for the wellbeing of her patients. Dr. Beckerly makes you feel comfortable, and makes sure you feel no pain. Ziggy goes out of his way to assist you through billing and payments. He even delivered my new night guard and bleaching trays to my fiancé at work in the neighborhood, so that I didn't have to drive into the city. Unfortunately this dentist office was referred to me and my family. Please beware of this place. As they charge an arm and a leg for any services rendered. They will overcharge your insurance and will paint a perfect picture with in-house payment plans. My wife was a patient here and with a few misdiagnoses and mistreatment from a male dentist here, we asked to be treated by a different dentist. Dr. Beckarly was the one that ended up doing most of the dental work for my wife. Upon many visits and pain that persisted and being told it was normal and it would go away. We decided to go to a different dentist. At this dentist they found a few issues with the root canal that was done and a few other issues with the work done at brighter smile. After a few thousand dollars we are back to square one where we visited an endodontist in which they had to redo the root canal and both crowns that were done by brighter smile. Again a few thousands dollars just to ease the pain from an office that just seems to be money hungry. Upon speaking to this firm again, the owner offered a compensation which was a fourth of what we paid and argued that they knew what they were doing, but if it made me feel better they would cut a check for a certain Amount. I did mention if they could take care of the amount at the other dentist office and they denied such action. Please be careful when you come into this place. If you can avoid it and look elsewhere in the neighborhood. read more

I just got back from these guys, which just so happens to be very conveniently located by my place of employment. This was one of the least painful, efficient and comfortable dentist visits I've ever had in Chicago. I'm definitely going to be using these guys moving forward. The staff was very courteous and professional. The office is massive with a really good layout to facilitate easy entry and checkout. My dentist was very conversational and explained everything clearly. Dr. Beckerly was extremely thorough and clear on what she was doing every step of the way. Dr. Beckerly was nice and easy to talk to. I was able to go in on an emergency and get the problem taken care of. The issue is, this place is probably the most expensive in Chicago. Not only did I max my dental insurance for the year- I had to pay another $1,000 out of pocket just on that visit. They do not offer payment plans, which is one of the reasons I won't be returning, I understand why but the majority of people can't afford to take care of themselves at those prices. The Dr. was thorough, professional, and made me feel comfortable. Now the main cons- I felt very pressured and felt I needed to make quick decisions. They tried to upscale everything. And the main reason is the guy at the front desk. He is not pleasant at all to work with. At first, I thought maybe it was just his personality but the more interaction I had with him, the more I wanted to get out of there. He is very rude and has this abrasive/I dont care about you personality. He almost makes you feel belittled. If it was not for the outrageous prices and that guy, I would go back. If you have the money (lots of it) and you don't mind rude front staff/assistants then this place is for you. UPDATE: I went to another dentist and I am pissed. I have an exclusively breastfed 2-month old at home, do you know how hard it is to get out of the house? Waste your own time, don't waste mine. Easily the best dental office I've ever been to. DDS Michelle is amazing. She does her best to make patients comfortable, no matter what age. She is great with my 12 yr old and with me. I have no doubt she will be wonderful with my 4 month old when he's finally old enough! We are never there for more than half an hour and that usually involves 2 cleanings and x-rays, if needed. I think a proper rating would be 2.5 stars but that isn't an option. My wife and I were looking for a different dentist after our normal family dentist not being fully in our PPO plan so we were always paying a little more out of pocket on certain expenses and chose brighter smile based on the reviews and proximity to our home. Pros: I can say that my wife said the office is very nice and modern and they have wonderful tech. The office helped setup all of our appointments and insurance work online prior to the appointment which was very helpful. She went in for a 6 month cleaning and normal bite-wing x-rays which are usually done i think once a year. Everything went fine in regards to the cleaning and the x-rays. My particular insurance mails me a check for reimbursement that i then pay the dentist with; they set it up so that the check comes directly to them which honestly saves me time and also is a better way to handle it both from a business and a patient side as i then just pay whatever wasn't covered. Cons: Similar to the person who provided a 1 star review, I feel like my wife was treated like an opportunity to make money rather than a patient. You know when you're trying to find a mechanic for your car and it feels like they are trying to find everything that is wrong with it to make as much money as possible? Or rather than trying to give you options they just go ahead and recommend the most expensive option? Yea, that's what she felt like. First, they provide every patient with "inner pictures/photos" as part of their new patient appointment along with x-rays. Per the office, these photos are "hit or miss" when it comes to them being covered by insurance. This wasn't told to my wife up front but found out after we got our bill. We didn't have to pay the entire bill for the photos as there was an adjustment for not being covered under insurance however doing a procedure that you know may or may not be covered by insurance and not informing the patient of this for them to make a CHOICE i feel isn't right. My wife has had cavities and our other dentist had been tracking one tooth that may need a filling. Well, brighter smile noticed this as well and decided that a full blown root canal was going to be needed ASAP. However strangely enough, she had ZERO pain, none. Anyone who has had a root canal knows that when you're at that point your tooth and/or mouth HURTS and is very sensitive. Also, magically my wife was told that she needed invisalign. She was also told that because she's a grinder, that invisalign would somehow magically help her teeth because if they were better positioned she wouldn't grind as much. I can't find anything anywhere that backs that up. You can grind with perfect teeth or horrible teeth, if you grind you grind, you need to find a way to fix the grinding. Also, like most dentists, none of invisalign is generally covered under insurance. Lastly, an estimate for EVERYTHING (root canal & invisalign) was sent to my insurance to get estimates on what, if anything, would be covered so they are "on the ball" to get things going and to take your money. As an update to the root canal issue: We paid out of pocket for my previous dentist to take images of that tooth again to see whether or not she actually needed a root canal explaining that we wanted a 2nd opinion. Brighter Smile was nice enough to email the x-rays they had taken but our dentist didn't find them good enough so we paid to get new ones. He didn't say outright that she needed a root canal, it might be necessary but based on the level of her current pain (which was none) he recommended against it however he did feel that a filling was needed (they had been watching it). She recently had the filling and after getting into the tooth he felt a root canal would have been complete overkill and was not needed at all. If you haven't picked it up by now, we went back to our old dentist. I work in business, i'm not against people making money, however i am against needless procedures to simply MAKE YOU MONEY. I honestly cannot recommend this dentist or facility based on this experience. read more

It's not easy looking for a new dentist but I came across this place after searching, ratings etc. This is one of the reasons why I haven't been to a dentist in a decade. Yes, it's been that long. With that, I was thinking the worst. I got exam, x-rays and a cleaning. Turns out, I've kept pretty good care of my teeth since the last time and that made for a much better experience. Dr. Michelle Beckerly recently moved into this location. She was extremely polite and professional. I, like most people, don't like to visit the dentist but she makes you feel very comfortable in a not-so-fun environment. Her assistant appeared to be still getting used to the new office and equipment but was polite, too. Zac at the front desk is wonderful as well. Let me start out by saying, wow! I'm 36 years old and not only have i seen alot of dentists, but I've caused a lot of damage to my teeth over the years. I am very impressed and satisfied with Dr. Michelle Beckerly, her staff, and her facility. Dentistry is such a difficult thing to talk nicely about, because it tends to cause pain and is very uncomfortable. However, despite the general anxiety, the noises, and the pressure i felt on my oral cavity...I'm actually not dreading my return visits with the doctor to complete my treatment plan. Dr. Beckerly is so nice, knowledgeable, caring, honest, attentive, aware, bright, calm, compassionate, confident, courteous, empathetic, friendly, gentle, humorous, patient, polite, and professional. I kind of wish that she was my dentist all along. Perhaps i would have listened and taken better care of my teeth. What an impressive dentist. Even her staff compliments her well, too. When i walked in, i met Ziggy. He and i hit things off from there very beginning. He is such a bright, positve, friendly, gregarious, polite, and professional office manager. My interaction with him had left me feeling comfortable and welcome. Afterwards, i felt like he took the time to explain everything i needed to know and ensure that i made another appointment. Ziggy is very organized, responsible, and warm. Speaking of warm and nurturing, reminds me of the dental assistant. She was so warm, understanding, tolerant, sincere, sensitive, nurturing, kind, friendly, and professional. My procedure was very involved and complicated. The assistant stayed by my side the entire time and even calmed me at the most critcal moment. She was very cooperative, dedicated, and methodical when it came to performing her job and acquiring the proper equipment. State-of-the-art equipment, by the way. Brighter Smile is conveniently located in the heart of Jefferson Park. There was ample and close parking. The facility is bright, clean, inviting, and brand new. All the equipment seemed top of the line. Dr. Beckerly even had this neat pen camera, that took pictures of my teeth and then displayed them on a large monitor on the wall directly in front of me. This way i could see exactly what the Dr. was referring to, as she pointed it out. No lie, Brighter Smile gets 5 stars with ease. I went to Brighter Smile after 2 years of not seeing a dentist and I had a great experience. The office is very nice and equipped with newer technology and instruments. I really appreciated the staff and their warmth. I wanted to know exactly what was going on in my mouth and they showed me extensive pictures and X-rays and taught me about the issues I was seeing and all my possible options . I have been going here for over a year, maybe even two years. My first visit was an emergency. I called after they were closed, but they still scheduled me right away. Dr. Beckerly took care of my pain immediately and we figured out the best way to deal with an issue I let go for far too long. Since then, Brighter Smile will take care of all my family's dental needs. Dr. Beckerly is really good at what she does, they have a modern high tech office and treat you like family. Another awesome aspect of the Brighter Smile is Ziggy, the office manager. He knows how to deal with insurance companies and works with you to figure out the best payment options for any dental work.
