After researching pediatric dentists, I was thrilled to find such a highly rated provider just up the road! Positive reviews, friendly staff - what more could one want for their kid's first dentist appointment? It took 32 hoops to jump through, but in early 2020 we finally managed to secure a date and time for our little one to get her teeth cleaned and checked out. Why 32 hoops? Let's jump together. First, if you request an appointment via Sprout's online form, there's a 50/50 chance someone will get back to you. Instead of providing appointment dates and times, however, you'll receive an e-mail with a link to an online scheduling site. Sprout uses NexHealth to book/manage appointments online. I could only laugh when I started attempting to find a provider and a time - good luck with that matrix! I think I was deep into June 2020 (and this was in February!) before I found ANY availability. So, after attempting to make multiple appointments online, I gave up and called. We were booked for April. And then we weren't, Covid-19 and all. A few days ago I received a text from Sprout saying they hadn't seen us in a while and to click the link to schedule our next appointment. Check out that screenshot - "Sorry, no doctors available at Sprout Pediatric Dentistry." Sigh, here we go again. It is beyond frustrating when a company/service provider's systems are not in working order, yet are presented as a means to utilize. But, upon reading the reviews here, I think I'll find a different practice. It would be my daughter's first dentist appointment and no way am I making her go back alone. I also am not sure if this still rings true, but according to their website, "Please understand that the most important part about the first visit is the establishment of trust and the positive first experience. Therefore, we do NOT provide dental treatment the same day as your child's first visit to our office." ?! WHAT ?! So, I'm supposed to make an appointment to make an appointment? And if that's not the case anymore/currently, then remove the verbiage from the website. It's 2020 - the year everything pivoted to a digital landscape. If your systems and websites aren't functioning, or are providing incorrect information, you're missing opportunities - and potential business.

After giving all the information needed I was told "how this would work" which was a speech about how parents are not allowed in during the appointment and I'd have to wait in the waiting room. After saying how that seemed extremely odd and concerning since this is a medical appointment and I'm their parent I was told it was "no different than day care". We don't do daycare either not that this is even remotely the same. Sorry I'm not leaving my small tiny children who I already mentioned were nervous with a man I've never met. I was then told maybe they could arrange for me to "meet him first". There's something very strange or worse going on here. Please steer clear.

I called because our 7 yo has ever never been to the dentist, everytime we made an appointment he was terrified. I think he has a cavity. I asked basic questions, explained it was our first time etc. The receptionist, Cassidy, that I spoke to before 10a on July 28th - rudely asked "Why hasn't you taken him to the dentist?" She asked about my insurance, maybe she assumed we didn't have any - and said it would "need to be paid upfront." Ok. I also see that they have the child in the room alone - no parents, which I expressed that this is not something we would ever do ; I've seen other reviews mention this, as did other mom friends, and even they seem to think it unnecessary and strange. She was rude, unprofessional, lacks decorum - and I told her this ; she then hung up on me. I called back, since I had asked for the spelling of her name and manager's name as this was happening - Amanda would be in on Monday I was told after I called back after she hung up. I could care less what your personal opinion may be, have some tact, be courteous - I will never bring my child here, and be sure to tell every mother in my area and the PTA about this prejudiced and unacceptable interaction. I've never called an establishment for preliminary information and questions as a potential customer and been treated this way. It's odd. I would reconsider who you have as the face of your business, as customer interaction is key.

The hygienist who worked on me was a temporary fill-in -- something I was never informed of beforehand and would have not felt comfortable with if informed. After the fact, I found out the dentist himself didn't even know her full name, how long she had been practicing, or what her experience level was. Despite that, the office allowed her to conduct my entire appointment unsupervised -- from X-rays to cleaning -- with no oversight. She attempted to begin a deep cleaning without any numbing solution. Thank God I asked for it, because even with numbing, I've never experienced pain like that during a cleaning. I had to ask her to stop -- something I've never had to do in my life. I told her she was hurting me, and that it felt like my teeth were being scraped down. She told me that was "impossible." But here we are today -- with almost all of my teeth now visibly jagged and shortened. I have before and after photos showing the damage. At my follow-up, the actual dentist barely acknowledged what happened. He offered no solution other than to "smooth out" my already damaged teeth by shaving them down even more. No accountability or further solution whatsoever. This office was recommended by my daughter's pediatrician -- and to say I'm disappointed is a major understatement. My smile will never be the same, and what she took from me can't be restored. All because the office allowed someone unvetted and unsupervised to work on me. Maybe if I had a different last name and wasn't a new patient, the care would have been different. I don't know. But what I do know is I'm disgusted, and I will be moving forward with formal complaints. Patients deserve transparency, professionalism, and basic respect -- none of which I received here.

At that age, losing your smile like that feels devastating-it's not just about looks, it shakes your confidence and makes you feel lost and unlike your true self. I honestly thought I'd never get my personality back again. A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Wittmus. Needless to say, I was terrified about what came next. From the very first appointment, the whole team at Grateful Dental treated me with so much care, patience, and kindness. The team was immediately so understanding of how traumatic my situation was, not just physically but emotionally. They walked me through every step of getting temporary partials and made sure I felt heard and cared for the entire time. I never once felt like "just another patient"- which meant everything to me when I was so shaken up. The temporary partials they gave me look so natural that people don't even realize what happened. I can smile again, I can talk without covering my mouth, and I can finally feel like myself while I wait for permanent implants. That may sound small, but when you're young and going through something like this, it means the world. My temporary partials look and feel absolutely incredible-way better than I expected-putting a smile back on my face. Dr. Wittmus and his team gave me the confidence back that I desperately needed while I heal. The whole staff is professional, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond for their patients. This would have been the second time getting his tongue tie cut because the first Dr we went to was a waste of time. Dr. Walnarr didn't seem to care or have any opinion about his tongue or lip tie. I told him about my breastfeeding troubles and he was so nonchalant about the whole ordeal. I know the decision is mine as the mother, however, I'm not a doctor and need expert advice. He was basically like "if you get it, cool. If you don't, cool." However, with Dr. Kollmann, the minute you step into the office it just feels alive. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable (did not get that from Walnarr) and Dr. Kollmann, himself, was a gem! We were walked to a room and asked questions about why we were there and the lady was so sweet and understanding. He went through full detail with me about how the lip and tongue tie can affect breastfeeding and how the frenectomy can help. He showed pictures and videos about how the baby tongue works during suckling and how a tongue tie prohibits motion NEEDED to demand a supply. After the frenectomy, which was a 10minute laser procedure that I did not see, he encouraged me to breastfeed my son for as long as I need!! Other BF moms out there know how special He then went into detail about what exercises to do and what stretches we had to do to keep his lip/tongue tie from growing back or healing improperly. He gave us the tools we need to get started and although it killed me to do that to my LO for the first few days, my BF relationship with my son is thriving. The price I paid for the frenectomy and follow ups is the most bang for your buck out there. The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. This will most likely be the place I bring my son in when he starts getting his teeth. Thank you Dr. Kollmann

However I'm afraid that I'm going to be, again, in the market for a new one. (The young female officer lost her life and the young male officer is in critical condition.) one of the females who I will identify as "the hygienist" says, I can't wait to see what really happened, I bet they were really aggressive and that's why they got shot. You know male police officers are so aggressive" not females, but males. I bet they deserved it because it doesn't just happen." Now I don't know about you but if I'm a police officer and my coworker was just shot to death. I don't want to hear your ignorant opinion about a job you know nothing about. There's enough negativity and ignorance about policing, I certainly don't need to hear it at my dentist's office. The problem nowadays is that people don't know enough about being professional in a work environment and they certainly don't know when to keep their mouths shut. I would love for this woman to lose her job over the fact that she just lost a client but that probably won't happen. It really is a shame because I really do like Dr Alkass but I'm not going to give my business to a place I consider a hostile environment. UPDATE: Dr Alkass called shortly after this happened and was absolutely horrified about the situation. It turns out that the woman who was going to be cleaning my teeth was a temp who was taking the place of the excellent regular hygienist that they have named Milena.
