After researching pediatric dentists, I was thrilled to find such a highly rated provider just up the road! Positive reviews, friendly staff - what more could one want for their kid's first dentist appointment? It took 32 hoops to jump through, but in early 2020 we finally managed to secure a date and time for our little one to get her teeth cleaned and checked out. Why 32 hoops? Let's jump together. First, if you request an appointment via Sprout's online form, there's a 50/50 chance someone will get back to you. Instead of providing appointment dates and times, however, you'll receive an e-mail with a link to an online scheduling site. Sprout uses NexHealth to book/manage appointments online. I could only laugh when I started attempting to find a provider and a time - good luck with that matrix! I think I was deep into June 2020 (and this was in February!) before I found ANY availability. So, after attempting to make multiple appointments online, I gave up and called. We were booked for April. And then we weren't, Covid-19 and all. A few days ago I received a text from Sprout saying they hadn't seen us in a while and to click the link to schedule our next appointment. Check out that screenshot - "Sorry, no doctors available at Sprout Pediatric Dentistry." Sigh, here we go again. It is beyond frustrating when a company/service provider's systems are not in working order, yet are presented as a means to utilize. But, upon reading the reviews here, I think I'll find a different practice. It would be my daughter's first dentist appointment and no way am I making her go back alone. I also am not sure if this still rings true, but according to their website, "Please understand that the most important part about the first visit is the establishment of trust and the positive first experience. Therefore, we do NOT provide dental treatment the same day as your child's first visit to our office." ?! WHAT ?! So, I'm supposed to make an appointment to make an appointment? And if that's not the case anymore/currently, then remove the verbiage from the website. It's 2020 - the year everything pivoted to a digital landscape. If your systems and websites aren't functioning, or are providing incorrect information, you're missing opportunities - and potential business.

I took my 5 week old baby here with a suspected lip tie. She was seen by Dr Kollman…read more I would give Dr Kollmann, and I would give him five stars. I was very nervous going to this appointment - breastfeeding has been very painful since my daughter was born, so on the one hand I was kind of hoping for a lip tie diagnosis as vindication that it wasn't just "my fault" that nursing was going so badly. On the other hand, I was nervous that she *did* have a tie and might need surgery (albeit very minor surgery). Dr Kirk was very reassuring from the beginning - he showed me a video of how a baby *should* suck and after an examination explained that in his expert opinion, my baby had both a (posterior i.e. easy to miss) tongue tie and an upper lip tie. He showed me photos of both that his assistant took so I could see what he was talking about. I then dissolved into tears because I was both relieved to have an explanation for the pain and sad that she would need to be handed over for a procedure. Dr Kirk and his assistant were both very kind and reassuring. The procedure itself was done by laser, which apparently means pain and bleeding are minimal. It took all of ten minutes before she was back in my arms and they let me breastfeed in a private room straight away. Daughter wasn't even crying when she came back from the procedure. Dr Kirk gave me his personal cell number in case I had any concerns about recovery, and his office called me later that day to see how my daughter was doing. So I received fantastic care in the office and also felt very supported thereafter. They also scheduled two follow-up appointments, which are included in the cost of the procedure (that cost, I would add, seems very reasonable - from what I can tell, it was cheaper for me to pay out of pocket here than it would have been to go with an in-network ENT specialist). I took one star off because I had an 11.30 appointment but didn't actually see the doctor until 12.30. Luckily I didn't have anywhere else to be, and it was worth the wait, but it would have been nice to be told on check-in that they were running a bit behind. If you have any suspicion of lip and/or tongue tie in your breastfed baby then I would highly recommend a visit to Dentistry for Kids.

After giving all the information needed I was told "how this would work" which was a speech about how parents are not allowed in during the appointment and I'd have to wait in the waiting room. After saying how that seemed extremely odd and concerning since this is a medical appointment and I'm their parent I was told it was "no different than day care". We don't do daycare either not that this is even remotely the same. Sorry I'm not leaving my small tiny children who I already mentioned were nervous with a man I've never met. I was then told maybe they could arrange for me to "meet him first". There's something very strange or worse going on here. Please steer clear.

I do not recommend this Destiny Dental location in Niles…read more I originally scheduled dental appointments for both myself and my daughters last month. The office canceled our appointments the day before we were supposed to be seen. I called back and rescheduled all of our appointments for June 9. Earlier this week, someone from the office called me only about my appointment and told me there was an issue with my insurance and that I needed to contact my insurance company. Today around 3:45 PM, I called the office back and told them to go ahead and cancel my appointment because of the insurance issue. Then, at almost 5:00 PM, they called me back regarding my daughters' appointments and told me there was now an insurance issue with them as well. I was informed that because my daughters have MetLife HMO listed as their primary dental insurance, their Public Aid/BCBS would not cover the visit. They told me I needed to contact MetLife and have my daughters removed from that plan. My issue is this: Why was I being told this less than 24 hours before their appointments? The authorization employee told me that they only verify insurance the day before appointments. But that doesn't make sense because someone from your office had already called me earlier this week about my insurance. If someone was already reviewing our insurance information, why didn't anyone check my daughters' insurance at the same time? Had they called me earlier in the week about my daughters instead of waiting until almost 5:00 PM the day before, I would have had more time to try to resolve the issue. I work in healthcare myself, and we contact patients well in advance when there are insurance problems so they have a fair opportunity to fix them before their appointments. Waiting until the last minute is not good patient care. To make matters worse, the authorization employee became argumentative. She told me that 24 hours was enough notice and then said, "If you work in healthcare, you should've known that." That comment was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Patients should not be blamed for an office's failure to communicate insurance issues in a timely manner. When I first scheduled these appointments, I provided all of our insurance information, including my UnitedHealthcare dental coverage and my daughters' insurance information. I even mentioned the MetLife plan over the phone. The first scheduler told me I could simply bring my insurance cards to the appointment. Then after my original appointments were canceled, I had to provide all of our insurance information again when I rescheduled. Looking back, that should have been a red flag. After the conversation, I asked the authorization employee for her name. She refused to provide it. I then asked for her supervisor's name and the corporate office phone number. She claimed there wasn't a phone number and that there was only an email address. She placed me on hold for about 20 minutes, never came back to the line, and someone eventually picked up and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with someone named Ava. I calmly explained that I wanted the supervisor's name and the name of the employee I had just spoken with. Instead of answering my questions, Ava ignored what I was asking and said they were closing and could only take a message. I reminded her it was only 5:08 PM and the office wasn't supposed to close until 6:00 PM. She then placed me on hold, disconnected the call, answered again when I called back, said, "We're closed," and hung up on me. After that, no one answered my calls. I was never given the authorization employee's name, the supervisor's name, or the corporate contact information I repeatedly requested. Between canceling appointments at the last minute, failing to verify insurance in a timely manner, blaming the patient, refusing to identify staff members, and repeatedly hanging up on me, this was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've had with a healthcare office. Families arrange work schedules and childcare around these appointments. Patients deserve better communication and better treatment than this. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this office to anyone

At that age, losing your smile like that feels devastating-it's not just about looks, it shakes your confidence and makes you feel lost and unlike your true self. I honestly thought I'd never get my personality back again. A good friend of mine recommended Dr. Wittmus. Needless to say, I was terrified about what came next. From the very first appointment, the whole team at Grateful Dental treated me with so much care, patience, and kindness. The team was immediately so understanding of how traumatic my situation was, not just physically but emotionally. They walked me through every step of getting temporary partials and made sure I felt heard and cared for the entire time. I never once felt like "just another patient"- which meant everything to me when I was so shaken up. The temporary partials they gave me look so natural that people don't even realize what happened. I can smile again, I can talk without covering my mouth, and I can finally feel like myself while I wait for permanent implants. That may sound small, but when you're young and going through something like this, it means the world. My temporary partials look and feel absolutely incredible-way better than I expected-putting a smile back on my face. Dr. Wittmus and his team gave me the confidence back that I desperately needed while I heal. The whole staff is professional, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond for their patients. This would have been the second time getting his tongue tie cut because the first Dr we went to was a waste of time. Dr. Walnarr didn't seem to care or have any opinion about his tongue or lip tie. I told him about my breastfeeding troubles and he was so nonchalant about the whole ordeal. I know the decision is mine as the mother, however, I'm not a doctor and need expert advice. He was basically like "if you get it, cool. If you don't, cool." However, with Dr. Kollmann, the minute you step into the office it just feels alive. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable (did not get that from Walnarr) and Dr. Kollmann, himself, was a gem! We were walked to a room and asked questions about why we were there and the lady was so sweet and understanding. He went through full detail with me about how the lip and tongue tie can affect breastfeeding and how the frenectomy can help. He showed pictures and videos about how the baby tongue works during suckling and how a tongue tie prohibits motion NEEDED to demand a supply. After the frenectomy, which was a 10minute laser procedure that I did not see, he encouraged me to breastfeed my son for as long as I need!! Other BF moms out there know how special He then went into detail about what exercises to do and what stretches we had to do to keep his lip/tongue tie from growing back or healing improperly. He gave us the tools we need to get started and although it killed me to do that to my LO for the first few days, my BF relationship with my son is thriving. The price I paid for the frenectomy and follow ups is the most bang for your buck out there. The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly.
