Dr. Joy is the most knowledgeable, kind and patient dentist I have ever met. Joyful Dentistry is the perfect name of this business.

My experience was horrible!!! Dr. Joy came to my home was very unprofessional. Her nails were dirty, things in here bag looked like they were from the garbage. She did not provide any service to me, only talked. When she was leaving I asked if she was going to do anything she said it's $200.00 for her to just walk in the door. She billed my credit card over $300.00???? I felt like I was in a horror movie, still do. Do not trust this office. Im fighting the money she charged my card. Im a senior citizen she took advantage of. read more

! BEWARE ! I'd give them 0 stars if I could This business scheduled me for an dental appointment I DID NOT AGREE TO! So the dentist recommended I get some work done, They told me That my insurance would only cover a small portion of the work, so I refused, but they didn't. They instead scheduled me anyway without my consent or knowledge, So of course I missed that appointment and now I owe $111.00 no-show fee for an appointment I NEVER agreed to. And according to some reviews im not the only one. I did not even have insurance to cover the cost so why on earth would I agree to an appointment If I couldn't even afford the premium when I had insurance? Makes no sense ! I've reported them to the BBB. CUSTOMER BEWARE. read more

Dr. Joy came to my home to fix my 90-year-old mother's tooth, it was the most beautiful experience. The good doctor was so sweet and patient, even gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek when she was leaving. I've been a patient of Dr. Joy's for years and her granting my mother the gift of not having to go out into the cold was incredible. I would send anyone and everyone to this practice! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Joy for years. She is off-the-chart knowledgeable about current dentistry practices and is great at describing my course of treatment in a way that is easy to understand. Of late my visits have been check-ups and cleanings which have successfully kept cavities at bay. But back when one of my teeth cracked, Dr. Joy crafted and installed an implant that looked and felt so natural that it earned the high praise of my orthodontist. I have referred many to Dr. Joy, including my adult children. She and her friendly, considerate staff are THE BEST!! read more

Dr Chris is the best!! Very helpful and knows his teeth!!! We have had a good experience here overall

I recently went to Joyful Dental Care on Peterson Avenue for a cleaning and evaluation. My experience with Dr. Joy was very good as she was pleasant and thorough. My wife had a similar experience recently with Dr. Hong for the same workup. It was the first time for both of us but so far we are quite satisfied. My mom recommended Joyful Dental Care to us and has been pleased with Dr. Chris for cleanings. read more

Dr. Joy is truly a joy! my husband was on Facebook that night and saw that one way to schedule dentist appointments is through a third party administrator- OpenCare or OneCare? Within a matter of minutes, we found Dr. Joy based on our zip code. She actually her the best ratings for our area. We both scheduled appointments. One thing to note is that Dr. Joy administration does a lot of text message reminder of appointments and they even sent me a text message to inform me that I have forma to fill out prior to my appointment. I completed the forms in a matter of minutes for my husband and I- it was very quick, easy and convenient. The office is located near Cicero and Devon (about a block away). Street parking is available. The office is right on Cicero so it's easy to find. Diane greeted us and had us just sign the paperwork that we submitted electronically and then Luz (Dr. Joy's assistant) came and got me. I couldn't get an X-ray but Luz took pictures of my teeth. Dr. Joy came in shortly after and introduced herself and got to work. I'm not going to lie to you, it was a little painful getting my teeth cleaned because dr. Joy uses an old school tool to literally clean every nook and cranky in your tooth which may cause your mouth to look like a bloody mess. Although she didn't X-Ray me, she told me I have three cavities but that we can wait to get them filled. However, I will say that her thoroughness is greatly appreciated because I felt a difference automatically in the quality of my teeth. Dr. Joy didn't perform the cleaning with the fluoride- Luz did the actual cleaning. The only thing I would say is that Luz could've been a little more aggressive with the cleaning. My husbands appointment took longer than mine because he has more dentist issues but he really appreciated Dr. Joy's brutal honesty. She just kept it straight with him and also reminded both of us on what we need to do in order to have the best dental care. We appreciated her attention to detail and honesty. The only thing I didn't like is that it appeared to me that the rooms don't close- j don't want other patients being able to eavesdrop on my conversations so that's the only downside to this appointment. Throughout the cleaning, I kept closing my mouth out of instinct and she would kindly ask me to open it and when I did, she would say, "thank you" or "I appreciate it". She also was very kind to her staff. For example, Luz was performing x-rays for my husband and the doctor needed her and when Luz came, she was like "I know you're in the middle of something but thanks for coming. To have a doctor extend kindness not just to her staff but also her patients is truly what makes the patient experience even more memorable. I originally gave this review at 5 stars but downgraded it to 1 stars because of the receptionist Diane. My husband went in less than seven days later for a cavity filling and on the way out, Diane told him that he has to pay $149 for his visit. We have insurance and I have a FSA (flex spending account) account through my company. As most of you know, when you get married, it qualifies as a life changing event through your insurance and I added my husband to my policy in December and really haven't had to use my FSA account a lot aside from my visit last week with Dr. Joy to pay $54 for the visit and my ObGyN appts. On Friday I found out that whoever plugged in my numbers for my FSA made a mistake and only added $250 to my account instead of $2500. Anyways, it takes my insurance a couple of days to make the change but until then I can't use my FSA cars. So when when my husband went in- he had no idea he would pay anything for the cavity filling. He asked what the charges were for and Diane- EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDNT EVEN SUBMIT THE CLAIM YET for his last visit- told him he has a deductible. She didn't a. Tell him how much his deductible is for the year and b. How can you know how much his remainder deductible for the year is when you didn't even submit his claim for his teeth filling from the previous week? I know the claim wasn't submitted because I didn't receive a notification from guardian about services rendered for him but that claims for my services performed last week were submitted and being processed. And c., I explained to her the situation with the FSA and she had no remorse or compassion. She was like well that's not my problem you need to pay now- I said why can't you send me a bill home so when my FSA gets resolved, I'll come back and cover it with that and she just gave my husband the phone back and said I don't want to talk to her. She was so rude and inconsiderate that I have no intention of going back to see Dr. Joy. Pretty sure it's illegal for you to demand payment for services you haven't even charged my insurance for but I'll take my complaints for the Illinois department of insurance. Great doctor. Terrible administration. Save yourself the headache- go somewhere else. read more

I have had the same dentist my whole life so when I had to find a new one, this made me extremely nervous. Dr. Joy had the best reviews for my area and I get why. When I went in for my initial appointment, I was under the impression that I would be getting x-rays and a cleaning. However, I still had some inflammation of my gums from a recent infection and Dr. Joy was honest and said It wouldn't be fair for me to do a cleaning now because your gums are still so swollen and it would be way more painful..Thank you for your honesty. It made me feel like she wasn't in it just for the money (as I had that experience with a dentist previously) The assistants were very helpful and funny and explained what they were doing step by step when they were taking my x-rays (which I appreciate and need) I recently went in for a deep cleaning and Dr. Joy did such a fantastic job, that I cant wait to go get my other side done! I appreciate how efficient and real she is (direct, tough love but we will fix it attitude) She also uses great analogies to explain how to keep your teeth and gums clean- My favorite being something along the lines of keeping your mouth clean and hurricane Katrina.. it made sense to me. I originally scheduled the appointment through open care (if you are going to do this please call the office ahead of time to confirm and see if they need anything form you) I think I finally found my long term dentist! yay! read more

I hate going to the dentist! However, I also hate ugly stained teeth and painful mouths. The staff at Joyful Dental Care almost take the pain out of going to the dentist. My teeth have never looked or felt so clean! I would strongly encourage others to check them out! read more

Dr Joy fitted me in and redid my filling with no charge when I experienced pain after a recent filling. She is always very good at educating me on good tooth care and the science behind it. If you are looking for a dental office or new Dentist please do yourself a favor and DO NOT go here. I went here after reading the good reviews and ignored the bad ones. There is a reason for the bad reviews. First this office cares more about money than quality of care of patient. The first thing they want is your insurance information ( yes I have insurance) and a credit card on file. They will charge your credit card without billing your insurance. Please don't give them your credit card! There are numerous reasons for this bad review. First of all I would give them zero stars if I could. One after over a month of waiting for a treatment plan I NEVER received one, this is even after calling the office twice asking for it- even after I was told both doctor's including Dr. Joy was working on it. Being lied to by both office staff and doctors is a huge red flag. Second when I realized this dentist was a not a business that anyone should use- I called 4 times and was told twice that my x-rays would be e-mailed to my new dentist. Again this was a lie. Not only did they not do it- they then claimed that only one person in the office could send x-rays. Again another lie. Again do not go to this practice. There are a lot of dental practices and this is NOT one to go to. After being thoroughly disgusted by the office staff- this is after a receptionist told me that it was "OK that the doctors didn't do what they were supposed to do" (direct quote) she tried to clean up the statement only to reconfirm the statement in the next sentence. I physically went to the office after I was told that Dr. Joy would call me back within the next hour so she could email the x-rays(another lie- of course she did not call me back ever). When I got to the office they asked surprised that I actually came in person. After waiting over an hour and being told that Dr. Joy was the only one who could give out x-rays( another lie) a technician came out and said she was able to sent my records to the other dental office. Even with writing out and reconfirming the other dental office email Joyful dental was unable to sent the records to other office -this was done on purpose or by incompetence. I asked for my records to be emailed to me, and after two 'tries' I did receive the email and I sent the records to the new dental office- which they of course received. Please note Dr. Joy did not have the guts or the professionalism to actually speak to me at any time in person- not for lack of treatment plan or for her or her staff's claim that only she could give out x-rays (another lie). Please report this practice to your insurance company so they can be removed and or investigated. Also please ignore whatever 'response' that is written to this review. Again just the practice trying to save face and bring in money. They had numerous chances to help me or response which they did not. They do not care about patients only about how much money they can get out of people. Please note Dr. Joy only responses to bad reviews and then claims she can't comment more because of privacy rules/ laws. She never explains why or what her office does wrong including multiple complaints about her offices billing policies. Again STOP and find another practice. This not a practice you go to. Please save yourself and just go to another dental practice! I would give Joyful Dental ZERO stars if possible! read more

Poor billing practices, cost me 1600 out of pocket due to poor timing of scheduled procedures. could have waited a few months and had no out of pocket cost. Each time paid deductible only to get a higher bill than quoted. My children and i will not be going back here again nor would i recommend their services unless you would like surprise dental bills after each visit. read more

I usually dread going to the dentist but my visit with Dr. Joy was great. She was very thorough in her exam and cleaning. Ever since I moved to the city, I've tried a couple of different dentists but I think my search ends here. Both she and her staff were very friendly from the moment I walked in. I felt like they really cared about me as a person and not just a paycheck. Another great thing, this dental office is very up-to-date, Did you know that you can fill out the paperwork online before you come in?? How cool is that! Bottom line: If you're looking for a dentist, Dr. Joy is your gal! read more

Excellent check-up and cleaning by dentist Joy Poskozim.

The new office location is really convenient for me and is bright and cheery. As a new patient I liked Doctor Joy alot, very nice and competent. I have serious questions as to billing practices, however. Word to the wise, get a predetermination for all expensive dental work. I had a cleaning, then came back for five cavities, two root canals and eventually two buildups and crowns. Of course all this work totaled thousands of dollars, thank God for insurance. The problem is, however, that Diane at the front desk will charge you consistently more then the patient amount shown on the insurance EOB. That is partly because she is estimating, she has to wait for the EOB. However, I apparently have access to the EOB ahead of her because of my online insurance portal My patient amount for four visits was $623, she charged me, $1400. So I'm owed $800 so far, and more to follow I'm sure when the crowns are put on. Do not go here, a friendly dentist is one thing, being ripped off is something completely different. read more

I wanted to like this place and I had hoped I had found my new dentist, however i couldn't help but feel dirty when i was in this place. It is the mom and pops of the dentist industry. I came in one day because my gums hurt and all she did was clean them with CVS brand hydrogen peroxide . . . . I am not even sure if the receptioinist/biller knows what their doing. I have been billed wrong numerous of times. There are plenty of better dentists out there. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Joy for about 5 years, now, and and somewhat ashamed that I never reviewed here before this. She is the perfect dentist, very knowlegable and current, technically, empathetic to her patients and to top it all off, funny. Found Dr. Joy Poskozim on the internet. Needed priority dental care for my HOME-BOUND 98 year mother. Contacted Dr. Joy at her office. She would be able to make a house call the next morning at 8:00 a.m. Dr. Joy was extremely prompt and arrived at 8:00 a.m. She is VERY friendly, knowledgeable, not to say a great dentist. VERY reasonable house call fee! Pretty funny response from Dr. Joy. Completely ignores the actual issues that I mentioned and tries to hide behind the Privacy Act. I don't really know what my dental record has to do with why I may have thought the dental office was cramped. All I can think of is that it is some kind of thinly veiled fat joke? I mean, I'm a big dude (6'1" 240lbs.) but not morbidly obese or something... And I didn't think that just the dental work rooms were cramped (which they are) I felt like the whole office was obviously a badly remodeled travel agency or something, like when you see a Chinese restaurant that obviously used to be a Burger King. I had TWO fillings fall out, not one. There were no financial restrictions in my dental life on my first filling that fell out and any financial restrictions later were caused by the fact that I had to keep coming back to have work redone and did not want to continue hemorrhaging money to you. That you think you told me the initial filling was not going to be sufficient is just absolutely false and doesn't matter even if it was. Would you really agree to do work that you knew was inferior or would not last? That seems like the actual problem. The real reason you told me that it fell out was that the filling was too big and you had drilled it incorrectly and had not left enough of an angle to provide support for the filling. As I mentioned in my initial review, my wife also had a filling you put in fall out. That is the real kicker. I have not taken the best care of my teeth in my life. I should probably floss more, for instance. However, I was not so derelict that I had dozens of cavities as a kid. In fact, when I came to you for my first visit visit I had ONE cavity previously that was in a WISDOM tooth. Part of why I came back to you was because I honestly didn't know what I should expect from fillings. I thought maybe the type of care you were giving me was normal. My wife, on the other hand, has taken fantastic care of her teeth. So after she also had a filling fall out, we knew we were just getting bad service. I have not given you much thought for a couple of years now but I recently saw you responded to my review and it was such a silly and obviously ridiculous response that I felt I should reply back. You know what would have been nice? If you had said: "Hey Matt, sorry you didn't feel like your needs were met here. I wish we could have worked something out. Best luck in your dental endeavors in the future!" Haha, then you look like a reasonable person rather than someone trying to hide something. Whatever, I am almost done with you for good. Each of the fillings you put in has needed extra work since then but they are almost all replaced now. I am glad that other people think they have gotten decent care from you. Maybe my wife and I were just an anomaly, but I doubt it. read more

Great Dentist! Great Assisting staff! I had avoided going to the dentist for at least four years because I have a big fear of going! I had recently been experiencing pain in my mouth and knew I needed to go to a dentist soon, or I would probably face severe damage to my mouth. Needless to say after going all that time without a professional cleaning I needed a lot of work. Dr Joy was very up front with me, about the work I needed and the price it would cost. She treated me with respect and did not make me feel ashamed for needing all that work or avoiding the dentist for so long! Her Assistant Raven and Receptionist Ursla are very friendly too! I also live that they can confirm your apt by test and emails, since calling back to confirm in a timely matter is not always convenient. read more
