Mike gave me an estimate of $815.00 to replace my bathroom ceiling. When finished I was informed that it took him longer than he thought so the final price was $1245.00!!! There was no warning he was going to exceed the estimate , no reason given why it was so much, not even an apology for exceeding the estimate by 34.6%. He robbed me of $430.00!!! I asked Mike to seal a crack in my bathtub drain. He sent me a text saying it would take an hour or so to do a 2-3 minute job. He came the next day and spent 35 minutes in my bathroom. When finished he said it would be $100 for the fix. This is his second attempt to steal from me. Mike sent me an estimate to do my bathroom floor. He proved how unprofessional he is by sending me an estimate for $800 in a text with crossed fingers. That's how unprofessional he is! Couldn't give me a firm estimate after stealing from me. It was his way of saying he's going to steal from me, again. Mike was recommended to me but I no idea why. I hired him to do repairs inside and outside of my home but all he wanted to do was steal. His pricing is fair and actually at the bottom end of the pricing scale. His actual work was top notch. He is meticulous about how he does everything and he takes pictures and explains any problem or issues that might arise as he is doing work. HIs transparency gave us confidence to ask him to do more things. His fair pricing meant that we didn't have a shock. We actually tripled the amount that we intended to spend, but, we actually got him to do so much more work because we trusted him. It was a matter of taking the faucet off and replacing a washer filter. The second project was the dripping toilet. Blais said that it was a faulty flapper and he didn't have the part but would run to the Lowe's to get one. A BASIC flapper and he didn't have one with him!! I asked - before he went to Lowe's - to tell me how much the project would be. He said $300!!! for a detachable flapper and a washer in a shower where I provided the part?! I said never mind, he was free to leave. He said he knew what the going rate was and his price was fair. I told him "Fair or not, I'm not paying $300 for a 15 minute job and especially since you kept me waiting for 5 hours." Blais said "What do you care, you work from home! " I asked his name and he told me but then asked if I was leaving a review. I said I probably would. He then offered to do the whole job for free as long as I promised not to leave a review! As if I'd trust him to do anything ever in my home!! I asked him to leave and he started yelling that I was going to ruin a man's business and livelihood over being late and expensive! The next day I bought a $17 Fluidmaster kit and fixed the toilet MYSELF! He had misdiagnosed the problem. It wasn't the flapper, it was the gasket. So for $17 and 30 minutes of my time, I save $300. The lady who answers the phone (Blaise's wife) is very professional and considerate and accommodating And apologetic. But Blais behaved horribly, was irresponsible and inconsiderate in 5 hours tardiness, was rude to expect me to be inconvenienced in such a way because I work from home, and didn't even diagnose the problem properly!
