Here are just a few reasons why we loved our time at LIP! 1) Learning through exploration! The teachers crafted activities that let kids investigate the world hands on (like science experiments, nature projects and creative problem solving). My active son was constantly engaged, never bored! 2) Patient and passionate staff! The teachers are warm, attentive and genuinely love what they do. Their teamwork created a calming environment where my son felt safe to grow socially and mentally. 3) Let kids be kids philosophy!!! A perfect mix of structure and free play that fostered independence and kindness. 4) Small but mighty outdoor space! While the outdoor play area is cozier than others we toured, the teachers maximize it brilliantly. My son still came home happily exhausted from obstacle courses, sensory games and imaginative outdoor adventures. He absolutely LOVES going to school here, plays, talks about his friends and teachers all the time. The support given to our family has been heart-warming, and I know that he is being cared for, loved, and safe. The teachers are incredibly kind, comforting, and truly care about each child's well-being. One of the biggest reasons I chose this school is their flexibility. As a commuting parent with last-minute meetings, their willingness to let me add extra days or swap days when I'm in a bind has been a lifesaver. They provide breakfast, lunch, and an after-nap snack for all the kids. The facility is new with dedicated classrooms and proper tools, unlike some preschools in Tracy that felt more like converted living rooms. Their fees are also very reasonable, especially for the quality of care and amenities offered. Another thing that really stood out to me: my son has seasonal allergies and gets nosebleeds often. At this school, I was never called to pick him up for that reason. In contrast, he just started TK three days ago, and I've already received two calls about it. The overall environment felt negative and, at times, openly unkind. I witnessed staff speaking to students in ways that were belittling and inappropriate. In one instance, a teacher used name-calling toward students--something that should never happen in any school, especially one that claims to reflect Christian values. Administration was equally frustrating. Concerns from both parents and students were consistently dismissed rather than addressed. Instead of feeling heard, I felt brushed off and judged. During a very difficult time in my personal life, I expected neutrality and professionalism, but instead experienced what felt like bias and a lack of basic understanding. Leadership was particularly concerning. While interactions could appear polite on the surface, the follow-through told a very different story. Decisions felt inconsistent and unfair, making it hard to trust the administration at all. The front office experience made things even worse. Shannon, who is often the first point of contact, was repeatedly rude and unprofessional in my interactions. The tone was unwelcoming and dismissive, which sets a terrible example for both families and students. First impressions matter, and in this case, they reflected a much deeper problem within the school culture. To be fair, not every staff member reflects this environment--Mrs. Quilcy stands out as kind, patient, and genuinely supportive of students. She deserves recognition for the way she treats families. Unfortunately, one positive example does not outweigh the broader issues. For a school that promotes faith and character, the lack of compassion, professionalism, and willingness to listen was deeply disappointing. Greeting the students as they get out of the car when arriving at school. Recently she actually directed traffic and prior to this day parents were creating traffic jams. She had traffic moving so smoothly and the whole time she was cheerful :-) said hi to everyone. She leads by example! I want everyone to know that the Best principle of any school in California is at Jacobson elementary School in Tracy. She is truly amazing!
