Bridges Construction recently finished a laundry room remodel and we could not be happier with the finished product and the cost. Similar to other 5-star reviews, I attempted to obtain quotes from two other Reno companies who either did not maintain their own commitments, or returned an outrageous quote that suggested they would rather not do business. Allow me to comment on a few of items related to the project and afterwards, I believe you'll understand why I'll confidently undertake future home improvement projects with Bridges. Communication - Phone calls and emails were promptly returned, typically in less than 24 hours. Additionally, while Steve and Chris were vacationing (well deserved!), emails were promptly returned. The office admin, Monica, was efficient and effective. Once the project was underway, convenient text and phone communication with on-site foreman, Kyle Bridges. Quote and Pricing - Detailed and included high/low break-outs for various levels of materials. For instance, I received pricing details for white oak, alder, and painted finish for my laundry room cabinets. The project estimate was detailed, and clearly stated the overhead costs and profit, which were extremely fair and probably below current market costs. Additionally, and where applicable, vendor and material discounts were passed on to the me, the customer! Vendors - The recommended local vendors were great, as they had ample selection and their workmanship was excellent. My new laundry room included new cabinets, flooring, and counter tops. Design Guidance - Chris Bridges is a wealth of information regarding colors, finishes, and features. This was especially helpful in our situation and there was no sense of attempting to "up-sell" to more expensive options. Craftsmanship and Details - Kyle Bridges and his fabrication crew do beautiful, custom work. The cabinet fit and finish for my laundry room would easily present in any kitchen project. The new flooring was beautifully installed and the small "nooks and crannies" were flawless. It left me wondering "how can he cut and match so perfectly?" Painting, plumbing and electrical upgrades were completed without issue and again, exceeded our expectations. Similar to working with Chris, no pressure to up-sell, but excellent input for lighting/electrical improvements that were best installed while the project was underway. To anyone considering a remodel/upgrade, I whole-heartedly recommend Bridges Construction. Approach any complex project with some level of flexibility as there are numerous moving parts, not all of which are in direct control, and I'm confident you'll be similarly satisfied. read more

My wife and I did a considerable amount of research prior to meeting with Bridges Construction to discuss our bathroom remodel. We met with Steve Bridges and discussed our ideas with him and met with him at our residence on two occasions prior to contracting with him to discuss our options and to see how we could fit a Jacuzzi tub and a double shower in the space that we had. We were able to collaborate with him to come up with our plan. One of the first things that happened after contracting with Bridges Construction is that we were allowed to meet personally with his suppliers, which were primarily flooring, tile, countertops, and pick out exactly what we were looking for and to use the experience of those subcontractors along with Steve's experience to come up with excellent material choices. Some of the items that we chose were way beyond what Steve expected, but he worked with us to make sure that they were all able to work in our remodeled bathroom and would be installed professionally. During the bathroom remodel, there was constant communication as to who was coming and what they were planning to do. A lot of this came from Kyle and Brandon who work for Bridges Construction. We were provided with cell phone numbers for Kyle and Brandon, as well as all of the subcontractors so that we could communicate with them, ask any questions, and confirm scheduling if necessary. The thing that we liked the most in working with Bridges Construction and their subcontractors were the willingness of the subcontractors to provide their opinions as to what would work best, and how the layouts were to be made. This was most important in working with the tile subcontractor, as we changed the layout of how we were going to do the tile, and it took twice as long as was initially thought. The tile subcontractor did not hesitate whatsoever, taking extra time and effort to do the tile exactly the way we wanted. In conclusion, the bathroom turned out beyond our expectations, and was completed without any issues or complications. We cannot ask for anything more, and are ecstatic at how the bathroom turned out. You should not hesitate in discussing your bathroom remodel plans with Bridges Construction, as they will not lead you astray. read more

We contacted Bridges Construction to do our kitchen remodel. To say that we are satisfied is an understatement. This group of people were absolutely amazing. They brought our vision to life. I got multiple different quotes from different contractors. With them giving us astronomically high quotes and saying we'd be out of our kitchen for 4-6 months. Steve worked with our budget and finished our full remodel, including the removal of walls, in 5 weeks! These guys don't mess around. From Steve doing all of our plans, to Chris helping with design and finishing touches, to Kyle the master of literally everything. Not just them either, their workers all were amazing and polite. Such hard workers and truly made that 5 weeks as easy as they could possibly be. We trust them with anything in our home or family and friends homes. We could not be any happier. read more

I'd give them a zero if I could. I'll start from the bid. They charge you 150.00 to come out and give you a bid. They bid low so you think great and then when you go to sign with them the cost is 10,000 higher. After that they continue to tell you they can't garentee the prices they quoted you on plumbing, electric etc so then you're seeing dollar signs going up. The husband and wife team tell you two different things so you don't know who to believe. They ended up bidding on our closet when they came out to bid our bathroom which is a total grift. Your first day meeting to design your closet they are charging you a re design fee 400.00 to give your input on your own closet that they designed without your input! When you complain they tell you it's actually a down payment which they will keep when you cancel because you've had enough of their lies. It cost me 550.00 to be disappointed, lied to and taken advantage of by these crooks. read more

Five years ago when I had a bathroom remodel I would have given 4 stars, unfortunately no longer the case. I spent ALOT of money for a contractor who was only on site 3 times during the 5 week kitchen remodel. He only showed to address some of my issues, and was belligerent and difficult to work with. Basically, all he did was line up subcontractors. So many details were missed during process that cost me even more money to fix. The State Contractor's Board was very helpful as an intermediary, and I did receive compensation for the damage to my wood floors. I was advised to get an attorney for additional issues. Kitchen is beautiful, but stressful and expensive remodel. My friend also had same experience with her second remodeling project. No longer a good choice! read more

We hired Bridges Construction to put our kitchen back together after water damage. From the first interaction with Steve we were impressed by his knowledge and professionalism and most importantly, his honesty and overall kindness. Chris, Steve's wife was very helpful and reassuring. Her genuine kindness was evident from our first interaction. Everyone who participated in the remodel were skilled and professional. Kyle, Steve's son is quite the skilled carpenter and couldn't be any nicer. We were very impressed with his work. John was skilled, thorough and personable. We were happy to have him in our home. The plumber, the electrician, the sheet rock people, the tiler, and countertop installers were all very skilled, kind and professional. Title Kitchen Install With a Lot of Problems This is a long comment. It details a number of issues that arose in my kitchen redesign. The main players are Steve Bridges of Bridges Construction and Steve Fitz, of Fitz and Company, the general contractor. There are also two installers: the cabinet installers who were employed by Bridges and the other installers, (appliances, etc,) who were employed by Fitz. We live in a high rise condo in downtown Reno. After drafting the plans, etc., Bridges took the plans and construction application to the HOA for its approval. Bridges then allegedly learned, despite being in business for over 35 years, that his contractor's license did not allow him to work in a high rise building. Notice: As of this August 15, 2016, Steve Bridges Contractor's License is a C-3. This limits him to carpentry only which . includes C3A- CARPENTRY AND REPAIRS; C3B - FINISH CARPENTRY; C3C - INSULATION & WEATHER STRIPPING; C3D - OVERHEAD DOORS; C3E- DRYWALL. His maximum bid limit is $30,000. By this time I had already paid him over $14,500 to order the cabinets, etc., and invested a great deal of time and effort into this project with him. Once Bridges informed me he could not do the job due to license problems, the HOA manager recommended Fitz & Company. I contacted Fitz. Bridges and I formally cancelled our contract. But as I remember it, Bridges resisted returning y $14,500 and instead it was agreed that Fitz would hire Bridges as a sub-contractor to purchase and install the cabinet. Fitz would work off of Bridge's previously prepared plans. Had Bridges returned my money, he would have been frozen out of the deal with absolutely nothing to show for his time and money already invested. Problems started from the beginning. Here is a small selection: No Contract: There was never a formal contract per se between myself and Bridges At best a two page estimate which in fact got explicitly terminated when Bridges learned he did not have the necessary contractor's license. He said, she said: There is very little paperwork on anything. So a lot of issues between the parties became a "he said, she said" problem Lack of Written Detail: Some of the upgrades clearly were not clearly specified by make, model number, and pictures. For example, thought we were getting an adjustable metal Lazy Susan installed in a corner cabinet. We got a wood one with a shelf between the two parts. Just Looks Bad: Some things just look bad. See the drawer (look for the baseboard), and crown molding pictures. The Veneer vs. Wood Issue: Some things Bridges delivered were not what we thought we were getting. The wood doors are a prime example. We specifically requested all wood doors. We got them in a sort. We were handed a sample of wood with the manufacturer's label that says "A full door sample should be viewed before selection" and Bridges' handwritten note that "this will darken over time to a yellowish brown." What we got was solid wood interior frame construction but the cabinet doors had a VENEER overlay. Grade B Veneer Used? Once the cabinets were installed I noticed a number of dark spots. I later learned they were defects "bark pockets." They are small gaps in the wood which would catch a fingernail. According to Fitz, this was an unacceptable manufacturing defect. Bridges disagreed. He attempted to convince me these were not defects. However according to Hardwood Plywood Grading Guide (2015 Edition), page 25, you are not supposed to see "bark pockets" in either Grade A veneer in the Maple or Oak family. You can see them in Grade B and below. Hence my question: Are my cabinets Grade A veneer or Grade B? (See pictures)? You decide. Blemishes: There were also a number of blemishes which needed to be fixed. One fix looks like some took a slight different color and attempted to paint over the blemish. It looks horrible. (See attached photo). The Panel Ready Dishwasher: We purchased a panel ready dishwasher. The edge of the door was covered by a blue protective material. It was meant to be peeled off. The installer installed the panel door to the dishwasher without removing it. We are now stuck with pieces of blue covering that stick out. (See attached photo.) These are not all the issues that arose. But it is enough to get a flavor of some of the things that went wrong. read more

Kitchen Install-Very Happy My husband and I hired Bridges Construction Co. to do a kitchen remodel nearly 2 years ago. We interviewed 4 companies and went with Bridges, because of his detailed estimate and his ability to listen to what we wanted. It took 3 weeks and ran mostly on-time. Only hold ups were subcontractors, not the Bridges crew. I have since recommended them to various friends. One of which hired him for a bathroom remodel. She and I both talked about why we liked Steve Bridges so much. He said to both of us several times, "I want you to be happy." I felt confident that he would do anything within reason to give us the kitchen we wanted: he did. He is dependable and trustworthy. I found it very easy to communicate with and get in contact with Steve. A few minor issues came up, and he was always very concerned about staying within our agreed budget. He always told me how much more something would cost if I wanted an upgrade. I always knew where we were on budget. Many people have asked me who remodeled our kitchen, and I even have a friend who remodels bathrooms. He recently retired and is referring his previous costumers to Steve.
