I've lived in Antioch for almost 30 years and have never tried this place. Boy did I miss out all these years. We had breakfast on Saturday. We ate outside, but the service was like we were eating inside. Our waitress was always checking on us and refilling our coffees. Food was simple but good and reasonably priced even after Covid when lots of places have increased their prices. Service was great, food was good, price was reasonable, so what more can you ask for. The place was busy with lots of customers for dining in and takeout, but the quality of service never changed. Definitely going back soon. Recommend to give this place a try. We have been eating at Bridgehead Cafe in Antioch for the past 20 years and the food is always wonderful. The service is outstanding, and it's a friendly place to go and have a meal and share with friends. Raul, the new owner,is fantastic, and basically has kept the menu as it was when Murray was there. He is adding new items all the time. If you have a chance today, Easter Sunday, they're having glazed ham with breakfast and an Easter egg hunt at noon for the family. This place isn't good at all. I ordered a waffle and bacon. It wasn't even in the slightest warm and the bacon was thin, extremely salty, and hard. I think it had been sitting out for a while too because it wasn't even warm either. I didn't even eat my food. My boyfriend got an omelette with tater tots. The omelette was at least warm, but the tots were cold. The place is dirty and cold! The waitress tried to squeeze between my chair and the person behind me and said, "I'm sorry. While growing up in Antioch, I never had the pleasure of eating at the Bridgehead Cafe. Yesterday, after a visit to the cemetery, I ate breakfast there with friends. It was great!! Wonderful old fashioned diner style atmosphere. Our server was kind and attentive. The breakfast was delicious - had linguisa, eggs, rye toast, hash browns, coffee - all excellent size portions too. Happened to be in the area and peeked on Yelp that this place was good for breakfast. Many of the patrons seemed to be regulars and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food on the other hand was so-so. I ordered corned beef hash which looked and tasted like ground beef. I chose fruit as a side order and it was canned peaches. First, parking can be a bit of a stretch. Carpool if you can. We entered the building and was greeting by a friendly family like staff- whoa! It was one of those moments where you feel like you're part of the town, team, family, etc. We immediately felt like we made the right choice in our breakfast adventure. My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place for awhile! He used to go with his family when he was a child, I have never been. I am so happy they were open for to-go considering all that is going on. SO GOOD! The eggs benedict is one of my favorites I've ever had! The chicken fried steak was perfect. The service was amazing, they threw in a free cookie and brownie too. Will we be back? Absolutely! New owners thought i would give it a try. Dinner on a friday evening only about 8 other people (3 tables) Menu seams too big for what they xan do. Im not going to nit pick all the little things so ill just get to the main points. The fried Mozzarella sticks were very good bit a bit salty my biggest complaint is that they dont have marinara sauce with them. I ordered the Pork chop dinner with mashed potatoes and corn two of my favorite sides. However for a place that identifies as a classic diner it used instant mashed potatoes the corn was old and the pork chops were tough and salty AF. I ate just a bit over half of one and that was all i could handle. My wife had the chicken fried steak which was a bit better but the same sides. Her soup was surprisingly good broccoli mushroom. After having breakfast here for a few years, they changed ownership recently . My most recent experiences there will be my last. Last time the new owner was running around the dining area, chasing her baby and being very loud. Serving food with the baby on her side, reaching for food. This time, it wasn't crowded. They added big televisions in the dining area. It actually took an hour to get our food. We had started to leave and they brought it out. The eggs were brown and dry. They burned them again. The fake butter wouldn't melt. The cheap syrup was bad. Just a terrible breakfast. It is freezing in there . The new owner was there, he was with his family. They were a large party in a small dining area and were very loud! Just a terrible dining environment. Spare yourselves and go elsewhere. We were in Antioch for the first time ever and wanted breakfast and, of course, consulted Yelp. Bridgehead came up and we drove over. This place is what breakfast is all about. It's the anti-IHOP. The food, homestyle no-frills country breakfast, was perfect. The service was phenomenal as well. Our server was chatty and friendly and helped us navigate the menu so we each got exactly what we wanted. It was a throwback for sure. It was also cool that the owner went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied up to and including giving us great directions out of town (that were better than Waze). I have been here twice now. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. The biscuits and gravy was really good. Very soft biscuit that held up to a mountain of gravy. Also had the eggs Benedict but the hollandaise was a bit thick. In my second trip I had the Club sandwich and it was huge, I was only able to eat half of it. They gave some excuse as to why they were not helping, but still did not offer assistance, so we left. This place reminded me of those small town dining places that are surrounded by nature up in the woods, where locals consistently gather on a daily basis for good food and equally pleasant company. Most customers seemed to frequent this joint often, where they are well acquainted with the establishment's owner and employees. The entrance is located off to the side facing the outdoor seating area. The entryway into the building is narrow. The place is made of wood and decorated with wooden trinkets and old fashioned metal tools that hang on the walls. - P A R K I N G - The parking lot is fairly average in size and can become full fast after 9:00am on Saturdays. - S T A F F / S E R V I C E - Service was also average in terms of wait time. Although we arrived around 8:45am, it didn't take long to be seated; however, the wait time for our food to arrive after our order was taken took a little after 20 minutes--not a complaint from us!! Our server, Lusanne, is a very delightful individual with a courteous personality. She truly cares about each customer and it shows in how she interacts with everyone she meets. There was also a gentleman, whom I am assuming my be Murray the owner, who also kept customers happy and the cafe running efficiently. He didn't speak with us except when we went to pay our bill, but he makes it a point to say hello to the cafe's regulars. - F O O D R E V I E W - Not sure about Pipo, but I personally do not eat breakfast often, and when I do, I eat rather light. That being said, we both ordered from the back of the menu for "Lighter Appetites". Pipo ordered the 1 Egg Cheese Omelette which comes with hash browns and one slice of toast. I ordered the 1 Pancake & 1 Egg that comes with 2 link sausages. (For my option, there was a choice between 2 slices of bacon or 2 link sausages). Between the two of us, we shared our breakfast and tried both dishes. The cheese omelette was literally just an egg and cheese omelette, nothing more. The hash browns were typical and the wheat toast was good -- it came with butter. The scrambled eggs were moist and fluffy, while the pancakes were airy, light, and well made. The link sausages were nice. Personally, I would've liked to have a little more crust or browning on the outside of the sausages, but Pipo liked them as they were. The food was delicious and the lighter appetite option was the perfect choice for us. We were well fueled and ready for our day, but not overly stuffed or bloated. - P R I C E - Both meals cost $6.99 each for a total of $15.21 (plus tax). - C O M M E N T S - This was Pipo & my first time trying out this Cafe. Went to bridgehead to eat before work never ate I made it at 12:45 left at 1:40 no food idk what the problem was but that was bad service the food never got to me I ordered two burgers fries and a sample plater 25 mins after I ordered the waitress come back to say no sample plater I had one drink never got a refill nothing what I don't get is how the waitress could drop a plate with a chicken fried steak and they get a replacement before me it's ok I'll just eat mf Denny's read more

I've been goimg there for yesrs and aftrr the nrw owners took over, I received my first bad meal. There wss 4 of us and 3 had garlic fries wirh their order. It costs a dollar more for garlic. The fries were so salty that they were inetible and instesd of gsrlic, they put garlic salt! I always get a patty melt and it was 1/2 the size as usual. $10 each burger plus. read more
