Carol is such a sweet and caring lady! She will discuss your needs, and even offer suggestions you may have not have thought of. I needed to adjust my shoulders on my wedding dress. She had me try it on, and she pinned it. She told me what she was going to do, but it turned out better then expected. It was ready, as promised in two weeks. When my son's new baseball jersey came in three sizes too big, and we only had a few days before his first big game, I was panicked.. The print on the dri-fit shirt was tricky, but I knew there was no way we could get a new one in time and I needed a seamstress. My go-to, Bell's Cleaners took one look at it and said, "Nope, can't do it." Called KAD and they said, "Nope. Never gonna happen." Called Donna Trumble, she couldn't help me. I called Carol at 2 o'clock on a Thursday after having tried every other seamstress in town. She didn't even hesitate. "Just bring him by after school." Though her sewing room was filled with wedding dresses, she pinned him up in that enormous dri-fit t-shirt jersey and chatted with us about school and baseball the whole time. I was concerned she wouldn't have it for me in time, but didn't say anything, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. She would contact me the next day, she said. Two hours later I get a call that she's done and I can come pick it up. She nailed it. Despite the tricky print, it being a dri-fit t-shirt, and being three sizes too big, she was able to cut out all of that fabric without defacing the logo or his jersey number. It fits perfectly. Carol is a magician with a sewing needle. Friendly and kind and I had to "tip" her because she really undercharged me for the work she did. Doesn't get any better than this. read more

Carol Redman is a consummate professional. My appointment with her was at her home in Georgetown, and I knew when I walked in that I had the right woman to alter my wedding dress. Carol is a gracious, warm, and funny woman, and what a dressmaker. She not only hemmed the dress so that it draped perfectly, she advised me on undergarments and completely corrected the look of the bodice. It was what I had dreamed that dress would look like when I bought it, not the "almost good enough" fit that it had before she altered it. Carol is a woman of contradictions. She has been a dressmaker for 35 years, and during my fitting, she used two French phrases to describe the cut and fabric of my dress I'd never heard before, and I had to ask my mother later what they meant. But Carol is also very down to earth, no pretensions going on there. You are fitted in a room under a picture of Jesus, and when her cell phone rings, the ringtone is a George Jones tune. She has a wicked sense of humor, and she made what could have been a nerve-racking task feel like a visit to a good friend. She said she was one of the first female employees at a steel mill decades earlier. This is a woman who takes pride in her work, and it shows. If I do say so myself, the fit of the dress was gorgeous on my wedding day, and I have Carol to thank for that. Two other seamstresses in the Austin area had given me cost estimates for altering the dress that were four times what Carol charged me (because it is a "couture" gown), so I gave her a generous bonus. The receipt she gave me was handwritten in her beautiful handwriting and had a crocheted angel attached to it. She is just a lovely woman, and she knows many "womanly" tricks to make the most of the female form. read more

Carol is great!! She's so sweet, super detailed, and very experienced. I would highly recommend her for any alterations that you might have. It's a really scary thing to have to turn over your wedding dress to a complete stranger. But luckily, I was referred to Carol by the store that I purchased my wedding dress from. My dress is also completely lace, which is a lot more complicated to hem. So, i was also a little worried about that. But the minute I arrived at Carol's, I was certain I was in good hands. I was very nervous about getting my dress altered because it has some very intricate bead work at the top that needed some alteration. Carol did a fantastic job! You can not tell that the bead work was altered. Carol works out of her house and you can tell she has a real passion for what she does! Carol is awesome! I lived in south Austin at the time I bought my dress, and I had no problems driving all the way to Georgetown to see her. She did any and everything I wanted done to my dress. She's great at giving her opinion, but won't force it on you...she does what you want. She is so sweet. Two of the things I loved most about her: 1. Her prices are outstanding!! Paying a lot of money for a wedding gown, the last thing you want to do is shell out hundreds more just for alterations...she's very reasonable. And 2. She's got a fast turn around time. Things she did to my dress that I thought would take weeks only took her about a week. I would definitely recommend her! My one piece of advice, however, is to get your dress to her as quickly as you can once you have it. Don't wait until the last minute. I'm glad I gave her my dress 6 months before my wedding. I ended up losing a few pounds and it had to be completely taken in just a month before. Also, I'm sure she is busy. I would see 5-6 dresses she was working on in addition to mine while I was there for my fittings. I didn't want to cause her any stress so I made sure to get my dress to her with ample time for changes or further alterations. read more

My son's dance costume came in fairly close to the competition and we were scrambling to find a way to get his costume altered and not be charged an arm and a leg. Look no further than Bridal Arena, where we were taken care of wonderfully and his costume looked better than I could've imagined. All I can say is holy cow, Carol is AMAZING. Seriously, she worked some crazy seamstress magic on my very too small wedding dress. She did it all in just under 2 weeks! I bought my dress over a year in advance and some unforeseen circumstances resulted in the dress being at LEAST 2 sizes too small. She never blinked an eye. She was professional and reassuring and just lovely overall. She made my dress (which has very delicate detail and beading) fit like a glove. I cried. I didn't thing it was possible. Completely awful. I was referred to carol by a friend of mine who had her wedding dress altered by her. The dress was to big for me to begin with and it needed to be taken in. It took me 5 trips and 2 months driving up to her home with trying it on over and over for her (it was suppose to take 3 weeks total) and I finally could not take it anymore. A very long story short she she ruined my dress it is now to small and will not zip up and there is no fix for it. I did not put on any weight either ladies during this time span at all. Very unprofessional and once again my wedding dress is ruined and she still charged me $300 even though I can now not wear it. read more
