We had a terrible experience with them. Our contractor referred us to get pavers from them. Initially as it stated in invoice that they will deliver 22pallets of pavers however they only delivered 21pallets and charge extra $35 dollar which we paid for. Make sure you check thoroughly. read more

Worst company to ever do business with. Went in to look at stones for our yard. Miguel was sales person, after the purchase he gave us today as an option for delivery. At that time Miguel stated that we would be first delivery between 6:00am and 8am. Called yesterday to confirm delivery. Was told it would be 7:00 am. Woke up early in anticipation of early arrival. Called at 8:00 and spoke with Paul and was told, that they don't deliver between time given, as they open at 8:00am. Delivery time would be between 8:00-10:00 am but that the truck was on the way and they would be at our home within an hour. Called again at 9:45 and Spoke with Cheryl and informed her of the situation and she looked up the information. After a few minutes phone was passed to a male that did not identify himself and he said truck was on their way, should be there soon then hung up the phone. We called back quickly and Cheryl answered the phone, and explained to her that I did not appreciate being hung up on, that it was very unprofessional to treat a customer by hanging up on the customer. She mentioned that truck and to come from Vallejo and should be there at 10:45. I mentioned that this was unacceptable as we had planned for the time frame as stated and they were telling us to wait another hour. At that time I canceled the order, after a few minutes I was informed that a refund to our credit card was given, however I had to ask for confirmation number! Greg is the Manager, Tony is the owner! Worst experience ever! We special ordered some flagstone, when our contractor brought the flagstone home is was not the same/correct flagstone as the catalog. The Supervisor then proceeded to tell me that since they are a special order they won't take the order back. We can't use the flagstone. Don't ever go here. They are rude and unforgiving. read more

Even 1 star is not deserving met met the guy who's kinda asian or Latino can't tell he was so nice even accompanied us outside the yard to choose variety of stones when we're done unfortunately he was busy so we opted with this white guy with this glasses and biggest belly (sorry for description didn't get a chance to get his name) he's the rudest I ever met in customer service he treated us like we can't afford to buy anything. Bad experience!!! we purchased $3,500 materials, and paid the deliver fee, they delivered to my home before the weekend, we have hired contractor to work in the weekend for our backyard, but we found the caps for the retaining wall were shipped with the wrong products, we have to wait till next week to get the right ones. In the middle of work, we found another issue, no bins were included in the order which should have been, then we could not be able to do any following work without the bins to connect the wall layers, this broke the process of work, we had to stop and call the company to send it asap, the lady receptionist even showed her bad attitude and explained that's not their problem, what? excuse me! so they would not deliver the bins, they asked us to drive there to pick up by our self (30 min drive for one trip, 1 hour for round trips), you could imagine how bad that feeling was!!! We had to pick it up, otherwise the contractor will not re-schedule because this is the busy season. I don't usually write a review, but this is the one forced me to make it. read more

I agree with the review that it's not always about the product. My husband and I went to The Brickyard several times before choosing pavers for our back yard. Each time we entered the store, we felt unwelcomed. We aren't well versed in the art of buying bricks so we had many quesitons. They were answered intelligently but we had the overwhelming feeling that we were on our own. We asked if someone could walk with us to the display area outside and that didn't go over very well. We did end up purchasing from them. Now that we are done and need them to pick-up the extra pavers, we are told that we have to wait a week. We tried to explain to them that we are having a graduation party on the weekend but they couldn't care less and wouldn't budge. I feel like we spent a lot of money at their yard. Maybe not as much as others but it was big for us. So disappointed in their customer service. read more

But, unfortunately, it's not always all about the product. - Dock one star for they're not being open on Sundays. That really sucks if you are a do-it-yourselfer-but-only-on-the-weekend-person like me. - Dock another star for the non-customer-service-having blond lady that works at the desk. I've used Brickyard Building for a huge 1000 sq ft. patio in the backyard, a fire pit, and a 450 sq ft. side walkway. The staff have been friendly every time I've walked in to get suggestions/place an order. They are quick to respond to any calls and are super easy to work with. They usually have popular items in stock but special order items have always arrived quickly within 3-4 business days. I've requested a lot of samples for my patio and each time the staff have patiently fork lifted samples to my car, even going as far as to remove stacked pallets off of each other so I could get a closer look at some of the product. Highly recommend this place. Bonus: They are now open on Sundays. read more

I love this place. They have a really nice show room where you can get ideas. I stole their idea of a small retaining block seating wall and used it in my backyard. They were very knowledgable and helpful and were able to give me all the information I needed to do it right. Next I want to tackle my paver patio. I went to Brickyard today for the first time for a teeny tiny order, I needed 3 super small pieces of flagstone. The staff was so helpful and nice, spending time with me and going over my color choices etc. they treated my $14 order with the same dedication they would treat a $1400 order. Today I waited in the hot sun watching the only forklift driver move empty pallets from point A to point B. All the while I stood next to my vehicle with my pink pick up slip holding it up to capture somebody's attention. I happen to see another forklift driver walk over to his forklift. I asked if there was another driver that could help his response was we are busy. Finally I went back to the front desk to return the blocks. Might I add that every terminal inside had an employee waiting for a customer to take their order. If management is listening or even cares I have some simple advice. Treat your customers whether they have a pick up truck or a car as your best customer. Also when a customer complains about service try to look like you really care. Last but most important take that waste of front end payroll and certify them as forklift drivers so they can help instead of sitting around waiting for that customer to stroll in. Unfortunately this was the determining factor to move my project over to Morgan's supply. Not only are the friendly to deal with , they also are courteous and will to spend quality time with your questions. There pricing is also better read more

Do not use this company! Rude and don't know what they are doing! Got stone and were told we would have a 6 am delivery. Called the day before to confirm. Were told would have delivery by 7 am. Called the day of delivery at 8 am, told would have delivery by 10 am, as they don't even open until 8 am. After calling again and being told truck is on the way (and being hung up on) and no truck showing up, called back and was told the truck went somewhere else (we were first delivery) and would arrive before noon. We ended up canceling the order. Clearly, they don't know what they are doing! They are inconveniencing customers (had to take off work for this) and do not care in the least! Rude sales people!!!! Bought culture stone only less than 100sq ft was raining so I had seen the display in their show room and bought the stone I needed, So the yard guys had loaded the stone it was raining pretty hard and stone was wet so I Figure it was darker due to the rain than the sample board in the office, kept in the bed of my truck which has a tuneau cover to keep material dry,it rained 4 more days so I could not install. Well when the sun came out I started to remove stone and notice it's still darker than the sample board, the stone is dry! So I took it back to them and told them I am not looking for a refund I just want to exchange the rock it does not match the stone on the board and which will not match my stone on the wall,They still have the nerve to tell me too bad we do not exchange culture stone! My issue the guy that sold it to me just walk away like he did not want to deal with me anymore and like I was a piece of dodo now! I brought 6 pieces of stone and put the board of their sample next to each other and they could see how bad it was and still had the nerve to say you could get a hold of the supplier and they could send a rep out and you could work it out with them! Are you kidding me it's not like I have 500sq ft of stone its just less than 100sq ft.They could not even do that.Here is a thought how about you take the stone back and you tell the manufacture to work with you on it since you buy so much from them they could credit you much easier than me it's your supplier! I showed them the stone in the back of my truck which is the same order that they loaded it in and they agreed to take back with a 20% restocking fee I felt ripped off and told them that the sign that says no returns suck its on 1 wall behind 1 counter and the other counter which is in a different area where I did my business has nothing and the guy selling it to me never said once you take it it yours so make sure it matches. It seems like they are all scared of the owner which just sits there and says nothing. Agree the guys in the yard awesome but the people that are in doing the selling are eager to take money and will say anything not to give back! So sad! Will not do any more business there! read more

The staff is very knowledgeable, they provided me a lot of help making the right purchase, and gave three recommendations for installers. Going this route saved me $2,500 compared to the all-inclusive quotes I originally received from landscape companies. They even took back the extra product (minus a re-stocking fee). They have a vast selection. It can get really busy during many mornings when the professionals are picking up their materials but if you time it right, you'll have plenty of time to work with their staff. read more

We just completed a sizable landscaping job. Our contractor recommended Brickyard, so I went out there on 2-3 occasions to select the rock for our job. SUCH great customer service!! Particularly, a woman who works there, Rhiannon, helped me each time and was very patient, making sure the cultured stone I had selected from their outdoor display was exactly what was ordered. She answered all my questions (and honored a coupon I had!) and was just great throughout our entire process. My contractor warned me not to purchase from this place he said they were awful to work with. Wished I'd listened. Customer service was fine as long as I was paying lots of money and there are absolutely no glitches. However, I'm in the middle of a huge fiasco. Stone that was promised to me 2 days ago now isn't available for two weeks. A smaller order that was promised to at the same time was guaranteed to me yesterday "delivered by the manager personally". And of course, that didn't happen.. I had To CALL THEM to find out where it was and again another excuse.. He didn't even have the common courtesy to pick up the phone and let me know that "he had truck problems" and couldn't deliver the stone. Do they not have any other store vehicles?? Ridiculous. And to top it off, not an offer to try to make it right?!?! And this is supposed to be a manager. Horrible customer service. Guarantee you the owner will be hearing from me as well. They've cost me money and lost me time on my project that should have been finished by next week I Will NEVER purchase from them again, would absolutely NOT recommend you do either. After they sent me the wrong amount of pavers for my job, they proceeded to imply that it was my fault. They acted like they were doing me a favor by then actually filling the order correctly. If you get new tires for your car and they fall off on the freeway, is it your fault for not checking that the lug nuts were on tight? If you deal with these people, double and triple check everything they say and do -- chances are they'll get it wrong the first few times, and it will be YOUR FAULT if they do. read more

This seems to be a rock-solid place to get masonry materials. I've been here before but don't do that much with masonry so it's sporadic. Anyway, they seem to have just about all you'd need for brick/stone/ concrete stuff, and they seem to be plenty helpful. I went to the Brickyard when I was shopping for flagstone for a new patio. I was approached by a man who answered my questions, and then asked if I was going to install over a hard surface, or over gravel and sand, and told me I'd need the thicker flagstone for my application, or it would crack. Before that, I didn't even know there were different thicknesses! Without that advice I'd have probably bought (somewhere else) the less expensive thinner stone, which would have failed! I've also gotten great advice on cleaners, sealers, etc. They don't make a woman feel out of place here. A great place, and they have my business from now on. read more

After selling me pavers (5 pallets) at sale price it turned out half of them were cosmetically damaged during manufacturing. Corners were broken and missing. After i applied it and tried to exchange the damaged once they came up with every possible excuse not to. First the yard guy said i damaged them. He just fired it without even looking at the style of pavers which (Italian renaissance - positano, shape-color) is rough per design. He said i should have reviewed the delivery right away when they were unloaded....all 5 pallets of them (200-400 pieces in each pallet) when they were delivered (all were tightly packed and wrapped in layers of non transparent plastic). Then after i proved that this particular style is on rough end he forwarded me to older guy inside who was main manager on the floor who said that after 4 month he can't exchange or take them back. Because it was too long since purchase. However, when i was buying them, the selling clerks were nice and friendly, saying that I can return within 6 month so I trusted them. Not only they sell defected product at sale price to trick people into buying it, they also blatantly lie straight in your face to keep your money. Later i found that my neighbor tried to return 2 blocks that he had left over from retaining wall project completed 2 weeks after purchase. They also denied him. There was nothing wrong with his blocks. They put their greed before honesty and the customers. They are shameless liars and will either sell you damaged goods and definitely not going to bother to exchange or return your money. Avoid that read more

My husband and I have a construction company in Lamorinda. We have been in business for 25 years. I recently went to the Brick Yard and picked out 3 pallets of blue stone that were all 4-5' pieces. We were laying a 500 sq ft patio for some clients and after checking several other stone yards, the Brick Yards stone had the largest pieces I could find for my project. The cost was about $300.00 more than the other yards but because they were such large pieces with nice even color, I felt it was worth it. The order came and it was missing the mortar that I ordered. That was ok because they delivered it the next day. The problem was when we opened the pallets, 2 of them were not in tact. The pieces fell apart to the size of 1' pieces with various rough edges. NOT what I paid for. WHen I called to see if they could take the two pallets back that were not what i wanted, Jim who said he was one of the owners ( not true) said they do not take back stone and they would not exchange it if I brought it back. He was really rude. He then blamed me for choosing that stone and there was nothing he could do for me. Really, if I wanted crumbled stone I wouldn't have paid such a premium for large pieces!!! I promptly called my credit card company and asked them to adjust 1/3 of the bill. I paid over $2,000 for the stone. I was looking for $600.00 back for the huge amount of waste that I was going to incur. One month later the Brick Yard called me and said that they needed the stone back immediately that was damaged and were quite rude about it. Well the job had been finished for over 2 weeks and we cleaned up our clients driveway. The broken stone was dumped in the debris box along with the other job waste because it was unusable and JIM said under no condition would he take back or exchange it. Now because we didnt have the damaged stone to return the credit card company could not reimburse me! I buy lots of high end materials and have some wonderful vendors that I use. I have been to the Brick Yard on several occasions before this and it was fine however, I will never recommend them or shop there again. Bottom line is...I did not get what I paid for and was treated poorly by this company. We had to go to Diamond K for the rest of the stone, they were very nice by the way.... read more

I've been in there several times trying to plan out my back yard pavers project and the last 3 times I've been stuck with the lady named nicky that works at the counter. First off, the smell of alcohol from her breath is strong enough to make you sick, second off she has a very negative attitude and seems to not care if she makes a sale or not. Do not have them deliver your purchase. Good selection of product, however, completely failed on their delivery. They quoted me a delivery tome between 11 and 2. No truck at 2, called and spoke to a girl who told me the driver left approximately 20 minutes prior and should be arriving at anytime. No truck by 3, called again and spoke to a guy who told me the driver was stuck at another delivery and should be at my site within the hour. I expressed my displeasure and was blown off, great customer service! Delivery finally arrived at 4:30, 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours late. At that time I already sent all my help home and had to move it all myself, including having to rent equipment for and additional day. I will never be back. There are other options in the area with much better customer service. I highly recommend you do not shop here, or if you must do not let them deliver, as they will mess up your entire day and have an attitude about their f up. read more
