Fish tacos. Everything was okay except the fish.

We were really excited to try something new and different in our small town, and the location is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance was great -- music playing, decorated for Christmas -- and the atmosphere alone sets nice expectations. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, though we did wait a little longer than expected for our food. Presentation was nice when it arrived. Unfortunately, the food itself was a letdown. I ordered the fish tacos with fries -- the fries were good, but the fish was dry and had very little flavor. My husband and mother-in-law ordered the shaved beef sandwich, and the meat lacked color and taste and had an unappetizing appearance. It seemed waterlogged, as if it had been frozen or soaked in water too long yet it was dry. My son had the BBQ chicken sandwich and said it was "okay," but mostly because of the sauce. We truly wanted to love this place because it has so much potential, but the food just didn't live up to the setting. Sadly, we left disappointed.

We've now been to The Brickwood twice, and both times were excellent. Today after church we went around 1:00 and had no issues with wait times. I ordered the steak with roasted Brussels sprouts and broccolini--cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My husband had the steak with fries and was just as pleased. The steaks themselves were tender, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly as ordered. The atmosphere is a touch upscale but still comfortable, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. With all the effort and investment put into this new spot, it's refreshing to finally have a restaurant in Lancaster that feels like a step up. For us, Brickwood has been two-for-two excellent, and we'll definitely be back.

Atmosphere was great. Extremely clean. Staff was exceptional. Food was great. Great wedge salad. Main course was really good. No complaints

We always love coming here. Tonight I tried the Reuben from the special menu. It was amazing and the tallow fries were so crispy. Thanks Mica! We had a wonderful dinner at sunset.

Came on opening day, the wife has been waiting months for this place to be ready to open. Drove in and someone directed us past the drive thru line to circle the building just to get back into the drive thru line. Took us about 8 minutes to get up front to order, where there was a nice young woman taking the orders. The line went fast after that and we got our food from a very nice gentleman and went on our way. Got home and was excited to see how this food compared to their neighbor and competitor. I got a pancake combo with eggs and sausage and my wife got a bacon and egg biscuit with a side of gravy. Off the bat I knew the pancakes were going to be bad, something about the look of them. I was very right about that, they were dry and just fell apart with no real taste to them. Eggs were ok and sausage was good. Wife's sandwich looked a little flat but she liked it. Overall this was the opening day so we will see how things change over time. Would still recommend giving them a try.

The lady in front of me had apparently made an error with her order and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating in correcting the situation. The manager even introduced himself to me and shook my hand before taking my order. I got my order for takeout and thoroughly enjoyed it. So bottom line is that the food is very good and the service and atmosphere is outstanding. I will definitely be back next time that I am in Lancaster.

My daughter called and when we arrived, we were lucky and was seated right away as a table was coming open. Small inside footprint but cozy with a full bar. Also outdoor patio seating. The hostess, our waitress and the walk around staff refilling water was top tier. Excellent customer service. Our waitress wasbbomb, I hate i forgot her name. Even though the place was packed she tooknour order in a timely manner, and kept checking on us be9fre we got our food,.kept us informed that the kitchen was busy but she on it. Seriously. Everything has pork. I got a handheld egg sandwich with tomato and cheese on a croissant with their potatoes. Basic sandwich, dry and the cheese & tomato were an extra charge. The potatoes were hard like they're old. The mimosa was good, regular sparkling with pineapple juice. And their tip machine doubles the recommended amount so for my $9 mimosa it generates a +$3 tip at 18 % but it should have been under $2. Just wanted to point that out too. I won't be back.

Now I'll admit -- I'm a tough judge of cornbread. A lot of people will serve it to you as dry as the desert. Crumbly. Without any love. At the southern pecan, I could've had a whole sheet of their cornbread -- it was pleasantly delicious. Also of note: Our server was prompt and kind. The vibe inside was really cool too. Overall, I'd come back!

The bread was hot and soft. The cheese was delicious as well. Will definitely order this again. For the mains, we went with the Chicken and Dumplings and the Southern Fried Steak. The Chicken and Dumplings were amazing as well. I always worry about the balance of chicken vs dumplings but this was very well balanced and delicious. The dumplings were cooked well and the chicken was very flavorful. The Southern Fried Steak was fantastic and well. No complaints about this dish either. Every component was well made and delicious. The only complaint I had was the service really went down hill after we got our meal. Our server didn't check on us until she delivered the bill which was disappointing because initially the service started out so well. The Southern Pecan is a good spot. Stop in and grab a bite.

After having the crab cake sandwich we would recommend doing the platter because the bread overpowers the crab cake. Everything was incredible, the flavors, consistency, and quality. Coleslaw was "meh," but a good, crunchy foil to the fish and rice. Counter Service (order at register, then they bring to table/to-go) was quite fast, given that they had to cook the fish and prep foods for take-out. Everything looked clean, staff was nice, and owner was talking to everyone. Didn't get to try the variety of desserts, but they looked and smelled great. Traveling, but worth the stop!
