I have been here once & had a not so good experience. My family has been here many times & had great experiences. I can only write about mine since thats all I know. SERVICE was bad and good. The waitress did a horrible job in a many ways. The entrees came out half way through our salads because we were waiting so long for plates to share the salad. Drinks went unfilled. Its your typically bar service I guess. She even charged the cards wrong. However, the redeeming grace was in the manager coming over & apologizing sincerely for trouble & refunding half of our meal plus he added a free desert. FOOD was dry, veggies were under cooked. We just discovered this awesome little joint. Kim was our server and did a wonderful job. The food was fantastic. Four people all had very different meals and we all were very pleased. Wish there was a 0 star review, we are from out of town and came to give them business. We have 9 people and wanted to eat some lunch. We walk in and there is barely anyone in there and they wouldn't let us put a table together with a booth. You must understand there is no one in this restaurant and they are saying if someone were to come in then we would have to move and we said ok. Great meal-the 3 of us got four "small plates" to share and couldn't finish them. The crack fries were great, and the fried oysters were one of the best dishes ever. What a terrible experience. Waited over 45 minutes for two overcooked tasteless dry burgers. The excuse was the kitchen was slammed with to-go orders. The entire time waiting I only saw two orders picked-up. We were enjoying the open air patio experience and trying to eat our tasteless overcooked burgers when the table right next to us light up cigarettes and then proceed to blow their smoke towards us. That was the last straw. We immediately picked up our plates and went inside to a vacant table. The waitress tried to apologize for seating them so close to us but come on, I have not been to a restaurant that allows smoking anywhere on their property in many many years. I cannot think of a quicker way to get one star than to allow smokers to ruin our experience. Service was slow food was terrible and COVID guidelines were not being respected. Tables served close together both inside and outside. Not once did the manager show up to ask about our experience I am quite sure they knew how unhappy we were. When we arrived we were seated right away. The hostess apologized that they were out of silverware. The waitress and brought out sone if our drinks and stated they were out of glasses but they were cleaning more. This was at 4:30, right before the dinner rush with half the tables empty. Bricks is without a doubt one of Beaufort's hidden treasures. This place is fairly easy to overlook when driving down boundary street as it is located right next to the town's tennis courts. Bricks has a great atmosphere with great lighting that blends that restaurant/bar style perfectly. The Menu has a wide variety of different dishes for different tastes. Whether you are going there for lunch, dinner, drinks, or just to watch a football game, this place is sure to please just about anyone. The only real complaint i had about the place is that the bartenders might need to take a refresher course on how to pour a pint of Guinness (about a third of my glasses were foam). But other than that, from the minute you walk in and you're greeted by their lovely hostess named Amber to when you're up at the bar sharing a laugh with Emma their witty bartender, you'll be sure to walk out with a smile on your face. read more

What a great place. Servers, host and bartenders were all very nice and the atmosphere was also pleasant. The food was excellent, with generous portions, and unbelievable flavors. My husband had split pea soup and I had the chicken tortilla soup. Both were very good. We split a huge shrimp/crabcake BLT and sweet potato fries-one of the best sandwiched I've ever eaten.. We were both stuffed, but given how good our supper was, we had to try some desert and I would definitely recommend the Krispy Kream Bourbon Bread Pudding. It was served with whipped cream and two scoops of vanilla ice cream and has possibly ruined any future bread pudding that we may ever have. Salad had discolored lettuce, salad arrived literally minutes before my entree. I wanted to enjoy my salad first (before I discovered the old lettuce) My waitress came to my table twice in an hour and a half. She was more concerned about the table next to me (live music group) than my table. Because someone is alone they require less service??!!! So disappointed. read more

2/9/19 We waited over 40 minutes for our food. They were not busy at all. The kids got their food finished their food and we still didn't get our food. I asked to talk to the manager and he or she never bother coming to our table. I left my name and number for that manager to give me a call and to date I have yet to receive any notification from that manager. And can you believe even after we were upset, they still bother charging us for the two kids' meal a cup of coffee and a bowl of soup. I also heard the server said to someone about us being upset and they talked about how to either void off what we didn't eat or make another check. I asked another person that I wanted to talk to the manager a 2nd time . The manager again didn't show up. Update: 2/10/19. A person called me tonight and identified himself as Lorenzo the General Manager. I asked him what time they opened today, and he said 11am. So, I asked him you mean to tell me this was the first chance you had to contact me from yesterday? He offered multiple excuses from being busy in the back, to short of help etc. I asked him, short of a fire or medical emergency what is more important then a customer who asked to see him twice? Lorenzo said nothing was. I informed Lorenzo for him to contact me at 1825 today is more of an insult then, if he didn't bother to contact me at all. I let Lorenzo know by his action's customers don't really matter to him or to this place of business and there wasn't anything I wanted from them. I informed Lorenzo if, the owner wanted to give me a call I would inform the same thing. read more

The menus are so dirty they're sticky. It's dark inside- an elderly person may fall if they are visually impaired. The flatware/silverware was dirty. Had a great waiter named Coty who was very helpful in guiding us to some local must see destinations. The reason I gave this place 4 stars is because of the confusion between dining atmosphere and bar. If you are looking for a kid friendly place or a nice dinner out with a loved one, avoid Thursday nights as this was trivia night and the crowd was rowdy, crude, and very loud. The place presents itself as a local restaurant that focuses on the bar vibe rather than what it could be: a unique dining experience with fantastic food, large portions, and a cool dining experience. This is or maybe was our favorite restaurant in the area. We have to drive about 35 minutes to get here as there are no decent restaurants in the town we live in. We have probably been here about a dozen times and several times we have taken out of town guests because we like the food so much. Huge portions. (We often split an entree and order an appetizer). Or if we get our own entree, we'll have leftovers for lunch the next day. We had not been for several months and recently returned about 2 months ago. Sadly over our last 3 visits we've noticed that the service is poor. Often having to wait 25 minutes or more for our appetizer or salad to come out. Or in addition, the food comes out in the wrong order. (salad comes before the appetizer.) Two of the three times this has happened the restaurant was not busy at all. We hope this criticism is taken well as we would not want to have to find another favorite restaurant. Fortunately the food has remained good. On that note, You used to have specials in addition to the menu items and the menu seems a bit smaller than it originally was. Please Please Please bring back the Bricks Fried Chicken! read more

Only giving one star because I can't give zero. Our experience began by the woman who was going to be our waitress storming through the door and complaining about her job. Then our waitress spent most of the time talking to us complaining about how much work she had to do, yet turned away another waitress who came over to try to take our order, which in turn made us wait longer. She also messed up a simple salad order, claiming that a house salad is a "chopped salad" to her, making my mother wait until we had basically all finished our hot dishes before she could eat her simple salad. She also took an incredibly long time to bring us anything we asked for, including drink refills. By this time, most of the other tables had cleared out and instead of picking up the cleared tables (or even their garbage so if wouldn't blow around), she let the wind blow their dirty napkins everywhere, including against one of the other table's patron's legs. The food was subpar. My "lightly breaded" shrimp were drowned in thick breading. We had two burgers at the table, one was over cooked and the other was just a burger with some extra onion and pico on it, which is advertised as their chipotle burger, but was no where near what was expected. If you went to Denny's to get a burger, you'd get the same quality. And probably better service. The chopped salad was incredibly disappointing and wasn't even chopped up, which is the entire point of the salad, and the chicken on top was incredibly dry. And with the issue with the salad, we fully expected it to be removed from the bill. But it wasn't. As we finally went to leave (we had been standing around with our purses on, clearly ready to leave for a bit before she finally brought the check out) and as my brother paid with her machine and chose "no tip" she immediate asked if he was leaving a cash tip (which is rude) and then when he said "no ma'am" because the service was awful, she then tried to lecture us about that being how she makes her money, and while we thoroughly understand that, we tip based off service. Just because your employer doesn't pay you a living wage doesn't mean you can treat us poorly and try to lecture/argue with us about not tipping. She then claimed she was never going o serve us again, which is okee dokee for us because we have no intention of ever going back. She continued to try to argue as we were trying to leave and then kept yelling as she went back inside the building. What a disgrace. What a terrible time. Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

I typed a long review, but decided to cut it short. Went to Bricks on a Monday night 7/3. Server did her best but clearly under staffed. 3 people, 3 wrong orders. My burger was raw and cold. Took almost an hour and we were told our ticket was lost. Table behind us also complained about the kitchen. Bad all around. Manager comped over 50% of the bill including beer. Credit for that but I couldn't eat my burger. One bite and called the server over. Nobody was surprised by the complaints which was probably the worst part. They knew there was a problem in the kitchen and served us anyway. If you can't serve food, just close the kitchen. I would have more respect if they said sorry kitchen is closed but the bar is open. Dont knowingly serve crap and be ok with it. read more
