I ordered an online order the other day and when I went to pick it up, I was shocked at how dirty it was and was sad to see the B rating on the door. There were only two people eating in there, so there was no excuse for the dirty tables and floors. This place is super expensive for not taking care of their place. I have to say this place has not improved as a coffee/cafe place. There is no free Wi-Fi at all and it's been a few years since they have opened. I remember thinking once this place gets Wi-Fi it's gonna be a hit in the morning and nothing has changed. I went for the "lunch special" which is a little over $10 for a 6 inch pizza, choose any from their menu. The ambiance is nice like a coffee shop vibe, and the pizza quality is decent. The size of the pizza however was tiny. I know, I know, they did say it's a 6 inch pizza, so its more on me to have believed that the portion size would have literally been that small. In my opinion, the size for the lunch special should relabeled as a kiddie pizza, as there is no way it would have satiated the average adult hungry for lunch. For over $10, you're better off getting a lunch special elsewhere as this one didn't even come with any drinks or extra chips to make up for the lack of food. It was a disappointing first experience, but I'm willing to go back knowing to skip the lunch special and just spring for the full size pizza next time. read more

My negative review is based on the cleanliness of this business, which is pretty disappointing considering it's in downtown Redlands if you look around the floors and shelving and counters are all filthy, including the restroom. Was excited to go out for a mother and daughter dinner date. My daughter was craving pizza. We've had delicious pizza before from Bricks and Birch. The salad was ready quickly and was delicious. The pizza on the other hand took 30 min to be ready and was soggy, full of black residue. It had it all over atleast half of the pizza (underneath the pizza), the big chunks of black residue I was able to scrape off with my knife but then my hands were covered in black residue. It got all over my plate, my hands, my phone.... It was everywhere. I finally decided to ask the gentleman employee if they could just re-make it. He looked at his co-worker and she said "oh I think the fire is out already". They confirmed the fire was out. Then she said "that's the flour, it's supposed to be like that". I explained that I come here often and it's never been like that and it's usually not soggy. She looked dumbfounded and didn't know what to say. Her and her colleague just looked at me like "what would like us to do?!", so I asked "can I atleast get half my money back, since my daughter and I tried to eat half the pizza". The gentleman right away "said yes of course" and gave me 9 dollars back, which I appreciated; however, how come they couldn't offer me a voucher for next time, offer a solution. It was I who had to suggest how to handle the matter. In reflection, I think they were eager to go home because it was 8 o'clock. I was really looking forward to try a wood fire brick oven made pizza today here at Bricks and Birch! They are in my neighborhood and I've been wanting to come here for a while now. They use fresh ingredients which is a definite plus and their dough is fluffy and chewy. The pizza's flavors of the topping was outstanding yet they fall short unfortunately. For the price point the need to invest on proper training as far as how to use a wood fire brick oven. I'm no expert but the bottom of the crust should have been more crispy it was slightly on the undercook side and it had minimal toppings. I will go back for the top have of this comment and hopefully they do better next time. But come in try them out it is a cool atmosphere and the staff is friendly, tell me what you think? read more

Horrible pizza! To be making this in a brick oven absolutely no crunch at all , and it was burnt very badly on the undercarriage . For $60 dollars this was honestly I can't even wow. I hate bringing up price because when something is good it's never a problem but when it really bad like this, it makes me go "ohh so that's why little Caesars is so popular " you get what you pay for but in this case you get what you didn't pay for and it's way worse. While we really like the Ron Swanson (basically a meat lover's pizza) we thought we'd try something different tonight. We tried the Triple "B", which the prominent ingredients are: bacon, Brussel sprouts and balsamic reduction drizzle. First you should like Brussel sprouts it's a main ingredient (see pic) - I know not all do. When the pizza was taken out of the oven, and the balsamic vinegar reduction was added, it created an incredible aroma - tangy, rich and earthy. Like Bricks and Birch's other pizzas, the crust is thin and yet will still hold the toppings. However, the sum of the ingredients didn't quite come together. The bacon added a good rich protein and the balsamic reduction added a savoriness (this is a word in mydictionary), but since the Brussel sprouts aren't cooked very much so they added a bit of bitter flavor. We tried something new, and unfortunately the Triple "B" wasn't for us. read more

Pros: their swineapple pizza is so good! Their ingredients are really fresh and higher quality than a chain so that is nice. Their dough has a great flavor, I rarely eat pizza crust but I finish the crust here! I also think their menu is unique and fun plus they serve decent coffee which is a bonus! Cons: I have gone here 3x, 2 of the times were amazing and the third visit was just ok. Usually their Hawaiian pizza is really awesome but we went this week and the pizza was oddly watery? I had to use a few napkins to soak up the excess liquid and it still was pretty soggy. The service here tends to be hit or miss, usually they are nice but this last time I went the cashier at the front was kinda grumpy and impatient with us when we accidentally thought they called our name. She then proceeded to be super extra nice to the person who came in after us so that left us a bit confused. Overall decent pizza and coffee and ok service. read more

My biggest gripe with this place is the wait. It takes a long time to order and then of course the wait for the food after ordering has always been a bit longer than usual. I still like it though! The pizza and salads are excellent! I do not recommend the Avolanche pizza, but, I highly recommend the Kale Caesar salad. The other pizzas and salads are pretty good too. My son said it was a good place for pizza, so what the heck let's try it. I was very disappointed but we will try one more time. Our pizza didn't seem to be cook long enough there was no slight crisp to the dough. Plus we got two of ent Ron Swanson and one seem to have more meat. The sausage was a different texture not so solid very loose when it goes in the mouth. The bacon was very bits and just okay. The pepperoni has some crunch some soft ones. I like it crunchy. The bbq chicken was just okay but the chicken texture doesn't make it taste like chicken. The last one I forgot The name Had the balsamic drizzle ok not my favorite wouldn't get it again. I haven't been here in a long time so I thought I would give it a try. I am now gluten free so I wanted to check out their choices and was pleasantly surprised they do offer gluten free crust so I will definitely be back. I was kind of taken back when I first walked in there though because I didn't get the friendliest vibe. Call me old school but I expect to be greeted with a hello, welcome or somewhere along those lines but instead my mom and I were just stared at and it didn't seem liked they wanted to help us but I started asking questions and they seemed to be friendly so who knows. But the coffee was delicious (strong and smooth) and I had a delicious gluten free peanut butter cookie. Next time I'll be back for their pizza! read more

Today I ordered an iced tea with two salads and forgot to pick up the tea and it was not that busy! The tea sat on the counter for an hour and not one employee thought to bring it me. My bad for forgetting that I ordered it but they could do better! When I called them 30 minutes after leaving, the employee said, "yeah it's still sitting on the counter." Seriously? Yesterday we asked for a mimosa in a plastic cup and while we clearly asked 5 times we got it in a glass and clearly whomever it poured it doesn't know what a mimosa is supposed to be. You would have thought I ordered a French 75. Today a hot chai and a matcha latte took 40 minutes with no customers in front of us. Not a one. I am updating my review yet again... This is my final edit, I promise! I originally rated Bricks and Birch with a 5 due to exceptional everything. Then due to a terrible experience the second visit, I downgraded to a 3 (I wouldn't go from a 5 to a 1, unless they really did something unthinkable that would make me never want to go back). Now that I have gone back a third time, I had a good experience, so I am settling on a 4. Their pizza is still delicious! This time, they were friendly again. I couldn't decide what to order, so I was given the option to do half and half again. They were really good about following COVID-prevention guidelines, so I can comfortably remain a fan. If you're curious about my original experiences, here you go... The 3-star description: I decided to update my original 5-star review from two weeks ago to a 3, due to a terrible experience today. I went in with my boyfriend expecting another great lunch as I had two weeks ago when I tried Bricks and Birch for the first time, but the customer service today ruined it all. The man making the pizzas today gave us an attitude and the woman who took our order gave us a difficult time making a half and half pizza. It was so bizarre, and such a different experience from my first time (see below). Needless to say, different people were working this time than the other time. Both times were on a Monday, but today was at 11:30am and last time was around 4pm. Not sure if the shifts change, but maybe next time I decide to come here, I'll try to make it for later in hopes that it's a better experience. So, we've ordered from this place 5 times. Maybe 4, but to give this place more leeway, I'm going to say 5. First 3 times, fantastic pizza. Mostly, on point. Last 2 times, the pizzas were burnt, and most recently, pretty much inedible, but considering I didn't eat all day, I was starving. Every bite, from center to crust, had a burnt acrid taste. Very disappointing because their flavors are very unique. Wife ordered their jalapeño poppers thinking it was actually jalapeño poppers but it was a pizza. It was too spicy for her, so I took the pizza minus 1 slice to work the next day. Everyone said that it was a unique flavor and it was either good or great. My personal favorite is their buffalo. It's got the nice buffalo flavor with a creaminess to balance the tang. So, why the 3 stars? I'm huge on consistency. Like I said, giving them the benefit of the doubt and saying I've ordered 5 times instead of 4. 2 orders were pretty much trash. So 60% good, 40% bad. Also, another note in terms of consistency. We ordered 2 buffalo pizzas and they both tasted different. If you're ok with a 50/50 chance of getting good food, this is 5 stars. If you want consistency, this is not the place for you. I've been eating hear for a few years, I thought I'd give them a review finally. I've tried only w pizzas here the vegetable pizza and Mushrooms Brie I believe they are called, but both are delicious. The crust is thin and I recommend eating them while hot and fresh out the oven. What's odd is this is a coffee shop as well. Their coffee isn't to bad either, but I come here more for the pizza. Their bathroom could use a little clean up and a little remodel though, hence the loss of a star. I'm always disgusted when I see a nice restaurant with a filthy bathroom, all that goes in my head is the employees use this too, hmmmm, .....are they washing their hands, are these germs making it into my food?
