Hire this company! When you hear HVAC your mind doesn't go to a professional snake wrangler* does it? No? Nor did mine. However, through the process of replacing our HVAC system in our new home we discovered a serious rodent issue that was causing heating issues. So we called Brick and Hammer to come help. Had an appiontment for an estimate with Brick and Hammer to rock the ceiling of my garage today 7/16/21 between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. It's now after 2:00pm and no one has called or arrived. I had to message them on what's going on and was told their guy was in Livermore. Frankly, this is not how I do business. If you can't show up the to sales estimate on time and you can't even call to inform the prospective customer that your people are running late, I have no belief that anything will happen on time or as committed. Now it's 2:40pm and I'm getting repeated texts from one of their employees about covid, a pregeant wife, that the police blocked the road, and how everyone likes them where I live! Gee, I'm a nice guy and upped it to 2 stars - now go away. It's amazing and frankly sad that I had to block my contact number and had to write a bad review but they earned it. Sean and his team went above and beyond for us. We've been struggling with rodents in our attic for the past 5 years. Despite setting our own traps the furry creatures always seemed to come back. We finally accepted defeat and called Brick & Hammer for their help. My only regret is we didn't do it sooner! These guys were efficient, friendly, and professional for the installation of insulation. They provided a great assessment of the situation as well as their options. After deciding on their services, they gave a timeline and explanation on what they were doing that day (and why they were doing it). On each day of work, they checked to make sure they did not damage the ceiling. In our case, they accidentally created 1 small hole during installation of the insulation. When it was brought to their attention, they very quickly stepped in to patch the hole. I rarely write reviews, however, Brick and Hammer (aka Mr. Attic) definitely deserves a shout out. My husband hasn't been very inclined to hire anybody for that matter to check out our attics and crawlspace for any living critters, even though I have mentioned several times that I have been hearing tiny footsteps above our bedroom ceiling. Last November 2020, however, I heard some scary scratching noises below me in our crawlspace. My husband heard it himself, and it was definitely the trigger point for him to finally agree to get the issue checked. I did my research and called around, having about 5 companies come over for an estimate. My husband is very hard to please, so having been able to find Mr. Attic was a godsend. They came over the 1st day to vacuum all the disgusting feces accumulated, which also included rodent carcasses, gross! We were provided with a before and after picture to make sure we could tell they got the job done. The process took the whole day, given they had to tear out all the old insulation, vacuum, and sanitize both areas (attic and crawlspace), and seal any holes. The following week, Sean came over to check out the premises and decided it wasn't clean enough, so he had his folks come back a second time around to re-clean the area again. We appreciated his honesty, given we know other companies would probably jjst hide the fact and not tell us. We asked for additional days to be sure we finally got rid of the rodents, and they were fine with that. Their last time here would be to clean once again and install the new insulation. From day one Ethan was around to make sure things were being done properly and if we had any questions, he would be there to help answer them. Impossible to say enough good things about this company. We bought a house last year and discovered when the hot weather came that we had an attic fan, with no external control, extremely inaccessible, and it came on all the time, apparently because the thermostat was set so low. We got through last summer, but the first time it came on this year it made a loud clanging sound, like someone sticking a fork into a big metal fan. It is located at the side of the house - which meant it would be keeping out neighbors awake all night if we could not get it fixed. Of course, it was 4:00 in the afternoon and we knew it would probably be impossible to get someone to come out to deal with it. Desperate, searched the internet and were lucky enough to reach Sean at Brick and Hammer (dba Mr. Attic) and told him our story. He was unbelievable. He was able to contact a crew who was working in the area and asked them to come by our house, AFTER HOURS AFTER WORKING IN HOT ATTIC ALL DAY, and help us out. Danny and his crew showed up and were extremely friendly and professional. One of the guys climbed into the attic access from our garage and crawled to the end of the house, at least 60 feet, in a sweltering attic to disconnect the fan so that we would not be keeping our neighbors up all night. Sean kept in touch with us and called to make sure that the crew was there, and that everything was taken care of. This was not a big job and it would have been easy for them to simply say that they could not make it until the next day, or next week. But they saw us as someone who needed their help, and went out of their way, above and beyond, to come to our rescue. Helping us clearly came first - profit was secondary. This is the first review that i have ever written. But after the service I received from this company, I was compelled to let everyone know. In Noverber I started hearing footsteps in my attic. I immediately jumped on YouTube (as I always do) looking for solutions. I tried everything for a few months. Finally I contacted Sean. He came out within 24 hours. He inspected the grounds, my roof and the attic at no charge. It took him at least an hour. He briefed me on his findings and gave me a firm price for the services. He came back with a crew a couple days later. They were there a number of hours rodent proofing the attic, the roof and the exterior of the structure. They also set several traps (which weren't part of the original services). The price I was quoted was for a one time visit. So, I was very impressed. Sean came back a week later to check the traps, the grounds, the attic and the wire netting on the roof at no extra charge. I offered to pay for the additional visit but he refused.
